When i did this swap had to shorten drive shaft 1 inch used Dutchman axles had drums redrilled to 5×4.75 pattern. It came with auburn posi but had it switched to a tru track posi. I used umi boxed control arms. All seemed to help it hook and plant the power let me guess u have 3.42 rear gear. When i got my axle story was it was in a cop car used for movies. Stock was 342 gear.

I got a question I gotta gm 8.5 10 bolt with I think 20 something spline I want to upgrade to 30 but wen I look on jegs or any other website it says it only have 30 spline for an 8.875 does that really matter and I still buy them or would it not work for a 8.5
They make 8.5 rear diffs in a 30 spline.

Not really man straight fwd. Your bolt pattern will change to 5x5. Other than that, it’s a straight fwd “plug & play” install.
Nice one more question, do you know of anyone trying to swap the front hubs and or whole spindle from the 95? From what I read the frames are the same as the 78? I have not looked at them each yet. I’m looking for whole 94-96 caprice now.
