Day in the Life of a Japanese Baby 5-Month Old

- A Day in the Life of Japanese Baby in Tokyo. Taiga Wolverine "Wolfy" recently turned 5 months old and this is what his typical day would be like from morning until evening. Wolfy shows us what a Japanese baby would typically do in Japan but also what it is like being raised with bilingual parents. Wolfy's has a Japanese Mom and an American Dad and they live in Tokyo in a 2 bedroom apartment. Wolfy shares the same bedroom as his parents, which is typical in Japan. This bilingual family living in Japan show how mom and dad share the responsibilities of raising a child in Japan. so Wolfy learns both Japanese and English throughout the day. As a Japanese mom raising a Japanese baby, Maiko wakes up early to feed Wolfy and is often woken up in the middle of the night for feedings. The longest stretch of sleep at the moment is from Wolfy's bedtime at 6PM for about 5 hours. After that, throughout the night, he usual wakes up after a few hours. At this time time, he is strictly on breastmilk but has recently started to eat rice porridge. We hope you enjoy this life of a Japanese baby.

You did a amazing job on this video
Wolfy: This is how I start my day, crying.
Every adult: Same.

I think Wolfy, based on this video, is an easy baby to deal with. There are kids who cry as soon as their mom is out of sight.

On the topic of ‘sleep training’... where I live in rural Japan, this is NOT a thing. Babies just sleep in their parents’ bed until they’re... well, not babies anymore. (3 or 4 years old is pretty typical for families I know.)
Originally coming from a country where sleep training IS a thing (Canada), I was a bit surprised by this situation. My wife and I actually TRIED to get our daughter to sleep in her own bed, but finally gave up. (So yeah, it was the parents who were trained.) Anyway, it looks like you guys are making it work, good for you!!
Yes, and I think a lot of parents use the Washitsu(Tatami room) instead of their own bedroom so that everyone can sleep in the same room, but in individual Futons. And it's really up to the child when he/she starts sleeping on his/her own. It's thought that it's not necessary to force babies to sleep on their own, because eventually they will ask for their own room, usually when they're around 4 or 5.
I also have a 4-5 month old baby, thankfully he sleeps a lot more than Wolfy here but since the 2nd week he has slept in bed with us, the NHS in the UK stresses you're some monster for having your baby sleep with you, and really push that they should sleep in their own room by 6 months unless you'll make them a psycopath or something.
We're obviously very careful, he has a "snuggle pod" and never sleeps on us, but it's incredible how much nonsense is spread around on the subject.
My wife also couldn't breast feed, she gave birth during lockdown and I wasn't allowed to stay with her, they forced breastfeeding on her till they gave up and allowed him to feed from a bottle. They really stress "breast is best" and I guess it is but it's also incredibly easy for a mother to feel bad for using formula.
@@Chris-jo1zr Man, and I thought our first few months as new parents were rough. But your experience sounds particularly stressful. (And during a pandemic!) But you’ll get through it. It all DOES get easier...eventually... :-)
@@Jordan-inJapan ah it was hard at first, more so for my wife but it's good now, still some bad but that's life. I just wanted to stress the belief that parents should do what works, I knew Japanese sleep with their parents so I wasnt going to believe the "English" way is the best. If what works for your baby works then that's all that matters.
How do these parents have a privet time with each other ?
For a kid with a marvel related name like wolverine.. he sure wears a lot of DC Comics clothing 😂
Nah, he wears obviously Chewbaca Clothing. And it's soo damn cute xD.
@@TempestPoet yeah that chewie all in one is super cute 💖

So cute 😭I got nostalgic of when I was a baby, a baby's life looks sooooo calm
The ‘day in the life’ I didn’t expect but should have! Nice! 😆
my sons 2 now, watching this reminds me how hard it was. the lack of sleep just makes anything simple feel hard. putting ur baby to sleep at night, only for them to wake up 20min later and u have to start all over again. As guy i feel that its much more fun once they become a toddler.
I could cry , he's so cute !!! My son is 3 months old and seeing Tiger flip the light switch made me melt

"Oh thank you so much dad for filming me and posting it on youtube where everyone can see :) "
nah he can see what he was like as a baby I think thats a W?
It's a baby. There's nothing to judge because they all do the same three things and you can't recognise people based on baby footage either.
It must be tiring for Maiko in the morning but happy and cute at the same time spending time together with your family(Maiko,Paolo,Wolfy)
Yea it definitely tiring, but at least she get to sleep back & wake up around 8am(like a normal working person) while her husband probably took a few short break before they end their day around 6pm.
I love that Paolo let Maiko sleep again after Wolfy milk time in the early morning & you notice that Paolo even took a morning walk with Wolfy while Maiko is still sleeping.
This is how the new gens parents should be.Help each other.
It's good seeing him help out, normally the mother does everything but things are slowly changing
@@peanutbutter7357 I think a big first step is to get rid of the mentality that fathers are “helping out,” since it unfortunately reinforces the idea that the mother should be the main parent in the first place
Wolfy is such a good baby. Seems like he barely cries, and eats super well. So many babies I’ve taken care of are a handful! They are so lucky Wolfy is so easy!!
How about the life of a geisha. I really love their makeup you know. So I'm kind of interested.

@Please Clap You will be called a woman if you dont take a form of responsibilities. A man that takes care of his own child is a true perfection of being manly.
@Please Clap it’s not about being a man or women. It’s about being a parent to your child. Both parties should be caring for the baby not just one or the other
Your view is rather archaic as
I'm sure they both play equal parts. It's not that men 'make' the women do everything, it's the fact the the female has more of bond and a nature to nurture. 3:58 reminds me of when I had to babysit my niece. She had the same habit of pulling people's hair. She was just 2, but her arms strength were...amazing. Tried to be gentle and tells her to not do it so many times, at last, what I did was, whenever she pulls my hair, I pull hers back. Not as strong, but strong enough to show her what she did was painful. After few times she stopped pulling my hair, but she still did it to her mom haha. Poor mom, kids are so hard to handle
