That looks like a Fischer fixing. I've used these, and some from other manufacturers, previously. I have a job coming up and cannot remember which fixings worked the best, and whether I was disappointed with Fischer! How do you find them? Any others you prefer?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thank you! As it happens, I've just found a couple of old Fischer ones (6mm x 60mm) and tested them with a piece of 2" x 1" roofing batten. Drilled straight through into brick with a masonry bit, countersunk the wood, hammered them in pretty much all the way and then gave a final tighten by hand with a pozi screwdriver, and they held _very_ well. I'm not sure how well they'll fare into mortar, but I was suitably impressed and don't think I even need to go to 8mm diameter, although I'll probably get the 80mm long ones.
"Pants down for a Workmans Smile" worth watching just for that!
Can also be used to park a bike!
Thanks for the imperial conversion this is the kind of thing I'd say to my dad 🤣
Fantastic video mate
Many thanks!

I've only used them for a few things but so far they've held really well

Informative video! Guessing you weren’t paying attention when they taught fractions at school, though 😉
Only a 1/4 of the time! 😃
Excellent video thank you, what were the dimensions of the wood?
13cm X 5cm
How deep did you drill the hole in the wall
Haha, liked just for the imperial mick take
😃👍
why don't you screw them instead of using hammer
They're called 'hammer' fixings. 🔨 They designed to be hammered in, not screwed. 👍
How do they expand if you hammer them in? Do you hammer in then screw to expand?
@@rowanationer The plug expands when hammered in, to create a secure anchor. You don't need to screw them in.
