It´s true. Wing Chun, Hung Gar, and other Kung Fu martial arts are not meant to be a sport but a real way to take down enemies quickly, which mean going straight for breaking knees, elbows, punching to the throat, eye gouging and other very dangerous moves that were never meant to be used in just a fighting sport.
When in MMA, a very advanced Kung Fu practicioner would be holding back so many of their moves and training that it simply makes no sense to even be there at all. Kung Fu also teaches people to avoid fighting using these moves at all unless they´re really trying to harm someone, which should only happen when you´re trying to protect yourself, a loved one or somebody in very serious danger. Kung Fu is more of a lifestyle and not really meant for simply "fighting".

    • @d4075361
      @d4075361 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The concept of the non-application of dangerous moves is valid for pretty much every discipline. They all have moves fighters are not permitted to use. MMA is a sport and its rules are not a limit of the Kung Fu practitioners alone.

  • @stevebond4013

Not banned, simply an exclusive stand-up striking art.
Mostly fists, kicks no higher than waist. Close-quarter emphasis for self-defense using simultaneous defensive and counter-offensive striking.
No emphasis on take-downs, throws, grappling, ground-technique, locks/ submission holds all essential to a rounded MMA fighter.
As with all Traditional Martial Arts its confined to the repetoire of techniques mostly expressed in its standing forms. In Wing Chuns case 3 forms, Si Lum Tao, Chum Kil and Bil Jee.
Aside from looking flashy in choreographed film sequences, the actual core emphasis in Wing Chun is developing awareness + superior counter-reflex/ reactivity to your opponents attacks through partner drills such as Chi Sau.
While Chi Sau works on developing spontaneous flow of awareness and technique in close-quarter contact it is not free-sparring.
I found Wing Chun immediately relatable in principle and practice as a stand-alone striking art and arguably my favourite Martial Art to learn as its combat principles are spot-on.
While Bruce Lee acknowledged its effectiveness (likely thanks to the tutelage of his Legendary Grandmaster Ip Man) he recognised its limitations along with those of all Traditional Martial Arts.
No single Blue-Print provides the theory on everything you might experience or require in a fighting situation.
    Thats how MMA was born.
Mixed Martial Arts is as simple as that.
Once fighters from different disciplines came together to test their styles head-on in arena's like UFC they discovered the limitations of single-style combat.
Diversity of technique and understanding reduces the individual confining themselves to one mindset, one set of inevitably predictable tools.
Big hitters dominated the early Octagon until the Gracie's stepped-in with BJJ. Once fighters got used to BJJ, Gracie dominance declined etc.
Today almost all MMA fighters are the rounded product of training across disciplines.
Its proven to work in the Octagon and what works in practice will work in reality when required.
The only danger of using just Wing Chun in an MMA contest is that you might get out-kicked, out-punched from range, taken down and tied up.
    That simple.

Wing chun was a mix of martial arts from the 1600/1700s that refined it for close quarters and to be efficient and adopts a scientific approach to the moves in terms of body mechanics.
Find me a legit fit looking, serious wing chun guy who was proven to be a bad fighter. I knew the comments were gonna be salty lol. So in case anyone is curious I'll give the answer. First full disclosure. I am not a martial artists. I have no attachment to any martial arts practice, in simply an outside, non biased observer who enjoys learning about different things. It just so happy a martial arts is one of those things and I have learned a lot.
So first of all when it comes to "what's best" there is a lot of subjectivity. Some martial arts are better in practice (against a resisting opponent) simply because practicing against a resisting opponent is PART of the practice. That's why some traditional martial arts like akiodo get flack and are generally looked down upon by the self defense folk. Akaido usually (emphisis on usually) is not practiced competitively or against someone who is actually fighting back.
That being said not all martial arts are meant for self defense. Some are strictly for competing against other practitioners of the same type. Others are simply just good exercise and muscle control (although the definiton, especially the "martial" part, becomes a bit blurred in that case.) Be that at is may there is usually always a take away from each art form that can be learned and applied to a larger mma practice. There have also been some mma fighters who have innovated in a way that allows them to use art forms that were previously thought to not be practical to great effect.
So yes the title is click bait, wing chun is not banned. It is also, in and of itself, not considered a very effective martial art when it comes to practical self defense. As a matter of fact there is a lot of propaganda in China around traditional martial arts. So much so that they have gone after mma practitioners for calling out traditional martial arts as ineffective and basically ruined their lives. There some guy (I forgot his name but in sure someone will remember) whos name often comes up when you search this. He has actually effortless beaten wing chun "masters" to prove a point after they ruined him and made it impossible for him to get a job and such.
Lastly its important to realize when it comes to self defense there really is no perfect substitute for the real thing. Obviously in the gym you aren't trying to cause each other serious injury. Your also practicing on a padded mat, wearing a gee or just gym shorts, against other people who also know martial arts and are unarmed.
That's not to say practice doesn't help. But on the street, people aren't going to tell you they are going to attack you. They have no qualms about how much they injury you, they may or may not outnumber you, and they are likely armed. The best self defense is preparation and awareness. Be aware of your surroundings, avoid fighting unless you need to, and even then your goal should be your own safety not to beat the crap out of your attackers. Get away and get safe!

Sorry to tell you this but you're confusing Wing Chun with Kung Fu.
Kung Fu started somewhere around 1000 BC.
Wing Chun is a style made up by the Communist party of China in the 1970's or 1980's ,exclusively for tournaments. It's just for show. It's so bad that about 5-10 years ago there was some American Kempo 1st or 2nd degree black belt guy going around all the Dojos in China challenging the masters (and best students), and he was wiping the floor with them. Eventually, the Chinese government stepped in and banned him from China for making them look bad. ... The funny thing is American Kempo isn't even the best style or anything, it's just kind of okay.

What I can tell you is there is so much bullshit surrounding wing chun unless you have trained this till you actually understand and can do it, you can't trust what you see on you tube and you've no business commenting.
Wing chun is street defence, the object is to finish the fight quickly, it is the school of dirty fighting. All the same. When I was training, I was able to take on fitter stronger bigger more experienced opponents and take the piss out of them, most guys were cool about it, and interested in what I was doing, a couple I can think of a kickboxing champion and an mma enthusiast, a big one mind you, were so full of themselves and so sure that their way was best, let's just say they both spat the dummy out when they fought me, it was completely outwith their experience and they were not prepared and it fucked with their heads! I'm not even that good at it. My last fight was against a 6.6ft Swedish mma fighter, monster of a boy, fucking ruined my leg with those thigh kicks, the only way to best him would be to do the proper dirty stuff, otherwise I was just holding my own,

Is very correct, there are absolutely no rules in a street fight, shit goes down quick and ugly on the street, speed and adaptability become a street fighters best friends, people have no idea how versatile and varied the average street fighter is in combat.
Things I've learned by taking part in around 50 street fights. Time is your enemy, hesitation is and can easily become a painfully slow and vicious ground pound.
Never let your enemy control the pace of the battle. Utilize every available skill you have to end any and all fights as quickly as possible, never ever underestimate an opponent Because overconfidence will get you destroyed in a street fight.
Don't ever gloat, winning is never as important as respecting your opponent, understand fighting is dangerous and can easily end in serious injury and or assault charges.
