It is nice to see a mix of reactions to this video. While it is totally pro Aikido, He wasn`t making fun of Karate. I didn`t hear him disrespect karate and say it was bullshido. Everyone knows karate is effective. It is Aikido that everyone wants to disprove and ridicule. The 2 are cousins. At one point, add judo and you basically get what every karate practicioner learned from a single art. strong strikes, joint and energy manipulations, and throws. None are really better than others. Although soft styles like Aikido tend to have an advantage over the hard style of Karate, this is due to it`s training of absorbing and redirection of the energy of attack, any Aikido practicioner is at a disadvantage in a fight if they don`t have a hard fighting style experience, either specific training against or training of their own. I love aikido but if it is all you have, don`t be surprised if it is not enough, at least against a trained fighter.

None of thes grapplers are grapplers lol. They're MMA. At 0:30, that is NOT a grappling stance, that's a striking stance. Many grapplers in the video also strike! lol

Yes one of the strengths of Muay Thai , I would say that the first one , is the ability to deliver powerful blows with elbows and knees at close range , a range that is considered good only for grappling .

I practice Muay thai. I have sparred people that do BJJ as well as Judo. If I had to choose my opponent... I am fighting the BJJ guy everytime. In my experience, BJJ people are incredible dangerous on the ground but they do not always know how to take someone down. With Judo if you make a mistake and they grab a hold of you, they are slamming you into the ground. I am more wary about a Judo practitioner than a BJJ guy. I am not saying BJJ does not work...I find judo to pose a bigger threat.
