    Ain’t no shame brother!
    I’ve ridden in that heat here in Central California, but only on flats. Riding in that heat and doing that much elevation would have probably ended my cycling days. Your honesty in your videos makes you a legit cyclist and You Tuber. Keep up the great videos! 🚴🏻‍♂️❤️

    This is why you ride very early in the morning. Those temps are common here in OZ well Perth anyway. All of us cyclists will be out early. to get home before the hot heat hits

    I recognize the call. For me, I sum it up to calling in the cavaliery. Many times I just couldn't make the ride. Either I bonk or had a mechanical failure. Call her what she is. The cavaliery! Great post, my friend.

    To be honest, cycling in that heat for that distance with the kind of intensity that you’re probably riding out it’s just simply dangerous. I’ve been hospitalised with dehydration before exercising in similar heats and it really creeps up on you. You can do all the prep in the world, but it still gets you. And be under no illusion dehydration is a medical emergency and ultimately you can do permanent damage to organs such as the kidneys this is what the doctor told me when I was hooked up to my drip. All that said, you’re much fitter than I am!

    • @TheCyclingTattooist
      @TheCyclingTattooist  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah I’m fully aware it’s dangerous… hence why I called it early! I also drank about 8 litres of water that day… 🥵

      @grahamriley8124 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Considering all the endurance activities people do it amazes me nobody developed a simple pin prick test for hydration like diabetics have for blood sugars. However you can do a skin turgor test which you can do yourself and as you are riding in a very hot place could be useful.

    Love the intensity of a hot, sunny day. I couldn't wait to go out in last year's heatwave in the UK when it reached high 30s, it was glorious. On my bucket list is to ride the Eastern Sierras down into Death Valley California in 40+ temps, it's so intense and beautiful. I've visited there and hiked but never cycled. There's an awesome SAFA brian vid where he descends for ages in that region. As long as you're sensible it is totally doable and special, moreso if you're used to the dreary, damp weather we get in the UK.

    Had to make the same call(well my side buddy). 2018, way hotter than we expected that day. As I limped into The Junction Cafe parking lot after Mt. Hamilton a motorcyclist say's "Man, you don't look good". I didn't ask. I say " My buddy is behind me by a minute, if he doesn't call his wife and ask her to pick us up I'm gonna break his bike". As my buddy rolls up both the motorcyclist and I look up as he say's "I'm gonna call my wife to pick us up". Bless his wife. Only time I ever had to make the call in 15 years

    Living in Shanghai, summer temps don't drop below 30 even at night so I can totally relate .. the first weeks of summer are brutal acclimatizing to the heat.
    Soaking your jersey in water helps act as AC for 30 mins and trying to plan routes to keep you in the shade, but the reality is it just hurts and takes lots of exposure to get used to it.

    Cycling in Riyadh in summer means that I am on my bike by 4:30 am when it’s already 32C. Dealing with extreme heat is no joke, and we should always err on the side of caution. A shortened ride is always better than missing a whole week recovering from heatstroke.
