  • In today's video tutorial we're going to create a surreal double exposure effect in Adobe Photoshop, which is based on the authentic multiple exposure technique used by Photographers, where two photographs are exposed onto the same film to blend two images together.

      ***** Not exactly what he did, but after you copy the selected to a new layer you should still have the selection and then you can click back on the original layer, right click in the selection and select fill with foreground or background (assuming one is white), or if the selection isn't still there, when returning to the original layer to make it white simply select the whole canvas and proceed with the previous instructions. (Foreground and background colors are the little boxes middle left with colors in them)

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Ras Miles Englisa Hi, here is what he did at that point. First he made a new layer above all other layers and added a light gray to dark gray gradient. Then he added a Layer Mask to that layer. You can do this in one step by adding a New Fill Layer (Layers Menu/New Fill Layer/Gradient). By default the new layer mask was filled with white which shows everything on the layer. Then he selected that layer mask by clicking on its thumbnail in the layers panel. Next set the foreground color to Black if it isn't already and select the brush tool with a large very soft brush. You can see how large the brush is that he uses by the circle showing as he paints. Finally paint black onto the layer mask using the large soft brush and it will reveal the layers underneath. The main thing to keep in mind with layer masks is that White shows and Black hides. So by painting black onto the layer mask he is hiding part of the gradient and letting the layers below show through. The big soft edge brush gives the soft edge effect on the layer mask. In my videos I try to stay away from keyboard shortcuts and do everything in a way that is visible in the video, a little slower maybe but easier to follow.

    • @RasEnglisa
      @RasEnglisa 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How To Gurus so he just used a paint brush with black to hide parts of the gradient. Thank you Sir. I am very glad.

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ras Miles Englisa Yep, that's it. The nice thing about using a layer mask is that you can adjust the effect by either using white to show more gradient or black to hide the gradient. Allows you the ability to edit how much of the gradient is showing.

    A lot of people are saying that this is impossible to follow..
    If you have basic knowledge of Photoshop this is really easy to follow guys..
    You can't just come here without knowing even basic things about it and then expect to understand everything without a problem.. He even uploaded the CC so you can follow it more easily...
    Chris did talk a bit faster, but that shouldn't be that much of a problem..
    Just focus! :D
    Great tutorial by the way! The thing i always missed was copying the model,putting it over the clip mask and then changing the mode to multiply.. It looks a lot better now! Thanks a lot! :3

      I disagree. I know the basics of photoshop and I've done a lot of work in photoshop and it was just too quick. when doing a tutorial, slow is key. Everyone, even beginners who open photoshop for the first time should be able to use this tutorial and be able to do this. I could not understand why he was going so fast. It was honestly a bit ridiculous.

      Your right baseballguy007,and may I add that if this is a "tutorial" he should explain how to do things as well. for ex. I dont know how to fill in a backround with white,so he should explain ir for people like me who dont know how to do certin things in photoshop.

    • @Old_meg
      @Old_meg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Alex De Jong make sure you're on the right layer and make sure that the colour you want is being shown in the bottom left of the screen where the foreground and background colours are. The colour you want should be in front with another little colour box behind it. You could also use the eyedrop tool and then when you have your colour go to paint bucket and then try :) (also maybe your background layer is locked try that as well)
