    This looks like a very nice set-up... I've used 1210s connected through an S4 to utilise DVS with the added bonus of using real vinyl... but were I to go fully digital this look like a great way to go... I do love the tactile control the Rane 12 offers...

    • @djrichiedon
      @djrichiedon  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do feel the same -and have two torque settings, Low and High, Low I believe are technic identical, and high are slightly stronger in case you have heavy hands.. For an all digital solution these 12's are a great option for sure! I do still use my technics from time to time too, I dont think they will ever be redundant lol! Happy mixing..

    why hasn't Pioneer brought out something like this but where you can plug in a rekordbox prepared pen drive straight into the deck eliminating the laptop with the screen for track selection on the back of the decks or maybe the mixer. This is what I would like

      Of course - just double check your laptop is up to the required specifications of Serato DJ pro. (Check their website for latest requirements)

      Sorry I didn’t see your comment - did you solve this? I can only guess a cable or mic issue as as far I have tested - mic should be plug and play as long as no phantom power etc is required

    • @djrichiedon
      @djrichiedon  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      in theory YES - you would only be able to do this with the mk2’s as the mk1’s do not have an analogue out. and use that to go into your box or interface into your computer for serato. but yes possible 👍🏻

    Hi Richie....will I need to use different USB cables if I connect to a Numark Scratch mixer? The Numark Scratch only has one USB port which is used to connect to my Macbook Air. Can I connect the Rane Twelves to a USB hub & then connect the hub to my Macbook Air? If I can, will I need different USB cables from the ones provided by Rane?
    Thanks

    • @djrichiedon
      @djrichiedon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know a definitive answer to that as I’m not familiar with the Numark Scratch mixer or what MacBook Air you have?? So I don’t want to give the wrong advice. I would suggest giving your local / or any well known DJ store a call to get their advice. I do believe with a powered hub / or high quality hub what you suggest is possible, but all that info going through one USB PORT may be a bit much for a MacBook airs processor so would be good to get a second or third opinion before moving forward - hope that helps in any way

      @@djrichiedon Thanks Richie.....I've seen other videos of people setting them up using a USB hub & they say it works fine. Can you confirm if the ends of the USB cables from the Rane are rectangular (as opposed to square) & will plug into a USB hub? Thanks

    • @djrichiedon
      @djrichiedon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Bennett the usb cables that come with the 12’s are called A to B USB cable. Square ish at one end for the 12, rectangular at other for hub / computer.

    What size cord do you use for the booth speakers? I'm looking to buy my first bedroom studio monitors for practice and want to make sure I have the right cord and the right speakers for it. I'm also using the Rane 72 and 2 Rane 12's

      length of lead? I just use a 1/4 jack to phoho cable, and the length required to the link to one and daisy chain to the other. A sperate left and right would be ideal, but in my scenario this works fine. Hope this helps?

    My husband has the Rane 72 and Rane 12 turntables. Everything new including his Dell XPS desktop. He has been in the music industry for over 20 years and I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to see Serato DJ Pro cutting out or freezing almost every single time he plays music. He has analyzed all files and it's still happening! We made sure nothing else was plugged into the USB ports and no other software was running. We have found no answers. Any suggestions or are there alternative dj softwares compatible with this setup?

    • @djrichiedon
      @djrichiedon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With regret Nancy I can only guess it’s a computer issue.. I used an old £300 - 2012 MacBook Pro in this demo, with no issues.. I have a had a Dell once with serato scratch live and it’s kept crashing that was when I took the plunge to go mac (many years ago) since then personally I wouldn’t use anything else for my library or to run SDJ PRO..
      I use an old mac still as a back up without issue so as much as I appreciate this doesn’t help answer your question can serve as an alternative that will work for sure.
      If you have the Rane 12 mk2’s other software will work with them, but you’ll need another mixer. A second hand MacBook would be a cheaper place to start trouble shoot. Hope that helps in any small way - you will find a solution it may take a while.. can I quickly ask, do you have your WiFi off on the dell and has it been optimised ?? IE Turn off everything you don’t need? Or background programmes?

    How do u connect the Ranes to a Mac?

      1. what software / hardware are you using?
      As I don’t believe it’s possible to connect direct to a mac as such? Normal setup is they would connect to the mixer via USB cable as a hardware connection, and then through to that / via your software to be able to use them as a normal turntable / controller..

    How have you set yours to have the discs so slippery? Even though i use Dr Suzuki slipmats, i have to keep pulling the quick release adapters up to have them slippery. Do you know a permanent solution for that?

    • @djrichiedon
      @djrichiedon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Primo - have you tried the original slipmatts that come with the 12’s? Not that I use them but just thinking of other ways we can test. The only way of adjusting is with the quick release adaptor.. pushing the pin in. Slightly pull the vinyl up, away from the Slipmatt and then release the pin in the quick release. It’s all I can think of as this is what adjusts the distance between the vinyl and Slipmatt / platter. How thick are the Suzuki slipmatts as I’ve not seen them before. Hope you can get it sorted 💪🏻

    • @DJPr1mo
      @DJPr1mo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@djrichiedon I've tried the stock ones and they are quite grippy without a plastic sheet underneath. The Dr Suzuki Skratch are slightly thicker than the stock, but way more slippery.
      Yeah, that's pretty much how i adjust it currently, by pulling the adapter up. Unfortunately that quick locking system is only made to lock the disc to the spindle, not really to adjust it to different heights, so it drops back down when i start scratching...
      Do you just use butter rugs and the clear vinyl on them?
