- Mike Krzyzewski, head coach for men’s basketball at Duke University, spoke with Dean Bill Boulding of Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in April 2019. The talk in front of students was part of Duke Fuqua's Distinguished Speaker Series.

Another of Coach K's tremendous gifts, is his humor and quick wit. He blurted out "ten" to correct the person on how many grandchildren he had, then followed up quickly with "a natural conception"....(Coach K is a devout Catholic, he used a segway from the Immaculate Conception).....I thought that was funny and lightened the moment, because I believe the girl was a bit embarassed by not getting the information right. Humor is wonderful at setting a tone and putting people at ease! Enjoy your retirement Coach K, a job well done, thank you!
I loved the simple exercise he talked about, by putting a piece of paper on the floor. I substitute 4th and 5th grade and even middle school sometimes; I have done this many times....to my surprise especially in middle school, many times that paper was eventually picked up and put in the trash. I am sure some of those who picked it up were curious if anything was on it, they would look at it, but they ALWAYS put it in the trash can or placed it on their desk! I never questioned the class if the paper wasn't picked up at the end of the period, but if it was, I would take about 30 seconds before the bell rang and told them why that was done and gave praise to the person who picked up the paper. You can reach those kids, you just have be to aware of their how to approach them and engage them....thank you Coach K, I will keep using that the rest of my teaching days!
Coach K is definitely a hero in terms of his commitment to outstanding performance. He allowed Carolina the incredible opportunity of participating in his farewell tour which turned out so well for the Tar Heels.
He has the greatest career of all time. Enjoy your moment that you came up empty with anyway.

Yeah that's what I'll remember.
In the last year at Duke, Coach K has revealed himself, his program and their fans to be incredibly bad sportsmen. The worst of which was their loss to Carolina at home. Coach K, his staff, and the fans showed so much pettiness and lack of grace. In his post game speech, you could see the visible anger on his face. You could tell he had just come from chewing out his team. Now they will be left with the memory of screwing up his perfect last home game. The first words out of his mouth were a very bitter, I’m sorry, we played very badly today. No acknowledgement that Carolina played well. Pair that with his coaching assistants refusing to shake hands , and a nasty “chant list” circulating among Duke fans how to humiliate the opposing players. It makes me happy that his l milestones so far this year have been spoiled. No acc tourney title, and hopefully they get bounced early in the Ncaa. Coach K, you need to take lessons in how to be a real leader from Tony Bennett, a man that uplifts his team in adversity, and develops them to be both good sportsmen, but good humans. He is everything you are not.
And im sure you are just as good as a man as him sending a paragraph long message on a video 3 years old that he will never see. but hey im just as bad for replying.
