What’s really remarkable here is how much the deluxe still sounds like a telecaster. It just has more oomph.. if a good lp is meant to sound like a telecaster with balls the deluxe is literally a telecaster with balls.
Finally a video that compares guitars using not only different effects but different genre styles. Most comparison videos I’ve watched lately are all some guy playing clean blues riffs. Excellent work!
Just came across this today after watching dozens of videos over the last couple of weeks on comparisons, you really did a great job here with the way you compared the 2 guitars, made it very easy to tell the key differences between the two... Many thanks for sharing your talent, your observations and the effort to put it all together in a great video... all the best from California
More than anything, I admire your commitment to the Tiny Terror pulled from a combo you’ve had literally forever. The thing is bullet proof and still sounds great.
Thanks so much for the amazing guitar comparisons you do. This is the way comparisons should be done. Same playing on both guitars, same amp and settings used, the way you don't just play 5 min on this then 5 min on that (you repeatedly jump back and forth which makes it super easy) thanks 🔥🤟🏻
Definitely preferred the deluxe for dirty tones. I was surprised at how close the clean tone were. Both are great, the hb’s are probably a tad more versatile, IMO.
With the crunch, the standard Telecaster just calmly talks with you and occasionally laughs. The Telecaster Deluxe barks it’s orders at you like a Drill Sargent.
Already buying an American professional but couldn’t choose between deluxe and the other. That mastodon riff cleared it up for me. Also, this is how I wish more guitar demos would be.
Tele with more twang as you would expect. Deluxe with the humbuckers seems to respond better with more dirt. Both sound great and ideal video as I feel the need for both a 60’s and 70’s tele to go with the Les Paul.
I have an original American tele, and it's such a wonderful guitar that it made me curious about getting one of these. Ended up buying one used and was horrified when I got it home to find that the pickups were terribly microphonic. Would just start squealing anytime they got near any type of volume. After a couple of attempts to address the issue I narrowed it down to the fact that the wax buffering between the pickup and the metal had melted it was no longer serving its purpose. I repotted the pickups into the metal covers and voila. Problem solved and now it's probably my favorite of my more than a dozen guitars. The sound quality and tonal options from this thing are unmatched in my opinion. Fender at its finest! Fyi, do not leave this guitar in a hot car!
You can get 90% of the deluxe tones out of a standard tele with A boss EQ pedal and a boost pedal. Everyone knows about the Katana but the JHS prestige is incredible and the TC spark is great for the price.
Even on computer speakers you can hear the difference (both sound amazing). A little eq and they can be made to sound close enough to be difficult to tell the difference. Long live the tele.
I have used both ..went with american performer sonic blue. The yasomite on my sounds test at muic store sounded like a tele vs the humbucker style tele. Single coil had the clear highs or chime.
Telecaster is good with its clean tone especially for solo and stuff But the deluxe is not bad either considering the mellow tone we sometimes prefer Deluxe handles distorted tones better thanks to the humbuckers SS tele is crispier by distortion… Anyways we can play around with the tones especially with the dedicated tone and volume controls for each pickup in tele deluxe But it’s better to get a HS tele like the 70’s vibe lol
Thanks for the great comparison. Have you or anyone reading this with experience with the Tele Deluxe’s experienced any issues with the microphonic squealing with the Deluxe humbuckers?
I’d also like to see this one. For completely irrational reasons, I hate the look of Les Pauls. The Tele Deluxe seems like a Les Paul for people who don’t like Les Pauls.
I say a regular Squier Affinity Tele. I would let him choose the colour since a guitar that makes you want to play it is the best one but if it’s going to be a present a simple blue or tobacco burst type colour is a safe choice. If you want a really good starter guitar a Squier CV 50s Tele is Amazing!

This video confirms that I really need to get me a Tele deluxe to compliment my regular Tele.
Me too, but it must have a 12" radius neck like the originals!
@@timnewman1172 is this not mine very own comment, from Wayback when...??!
I was not expecting to hear Sheik's theme while browsing random guitar videos; you made my day! I love the sounds you're getting out of the blue Tele.
Yeah I too was really surprised 😅
I thought I had gone mad
Just the vid I was looking for! Love the quick swaps to each version instead of longer bits of each that others may do.
I have one of each and both a 69 thinline and a 72 thinline, and I still want more.
You never really have enough telecasters, just enough for now.
What’s really remarkable here is how much the deluxe still sounds like a telecaster. It just has more oomph.. if a good lp is meant to sound like a telecaster with balls the deluxe is literally a telecaster with balls.
Mmm nop

Both sound fantastic! In my opinion, single coils make a tele sound more unique, which is why I like that setup better.
If the standard tele sound is single coil then wouldn’t the hbs make it sound more unique?
@@Coolbeans1492 I mean the classic tele sound compared to other guitars. They are very recognizable.
@@GibsonTick so are all the other classic guitar sounds…..

I will be buried with that ugly frankenstein of an amp 😂 Sounds so good.
I cant believe i just realized you played Sheikh's theme on the clean segment! Lol! Great demo!!
I heard him do Tifa's Theme on the Strat vs Tele video
Ooooh when you played Get Up Kids it warmed my heart ❤️
Love that you played Sheik's theme! One of my favorite pieces of music

and letting the guitars do the talking bravo
I agree 100% I wish everyone did it this way, it gives you a better idea of the tonal characteristics of each guitar. Great Job brother.
The high gain with the single coil really surprised me, sounded great 👍
yes i use the same amp the tube orange great gain makes all the difference !!!
1:41 that's an awesome crunch tone out of the single coil Tele
They sound the same driven but the chime comes out in the cleans on that single coil.
even on relatively inexpensive speakers they sound vastly different driven
Love the TBS riff! Also, love my Miami blue Pro II Tele Deluxe 🎸
For me, I like the singles better for cleans and the "wide range" for overdrive....
I particularly liked the Deluxe.
Both sound great. I’d go with the single coils…. Love their snap.
Definitely preferred the deluxe for dirty tones. I was surprised at how close the clean tone were.
Both are great, the hb’s are probably a tad more versatile, IMO.
close? Hm... to me the clean tone sounded SO different!
@@SergeiVlassov Yeah me too. Clearly different clean tones, but I liked both. I preferred the Deluxe when distorted.
Action and Action! Glad to see some TGUK on guitar demos
With the crunch, the standard Telecaster just calmly talks with you and occasionally laughs. The Telecaster Deluxe barks it’s orders at you like a Drill Sargent.
Love your demos!😍
Brings so many memories hearing you play that clean part of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
I prefer the standard bridge and the deluxe neck... you've sold me on getting the vintera custom
The single coils always sound more clear to me I love both but prefer the singles especially for clean tones
Already buying an American professional but couldn’t choose between deluxe and the other. That mastodon riff cleared it up for me. Also, this is how I wish more guitar demos would be.
"Hey, thats Ocarina of Time!" - me at 0:05
Did not expect to hear The Get Up Kids in a guitar demo
Oh my gosh, new American classic! You rule for playing that
Tele with more twang as you would expect. Deluxe with the humbuckers seems to respond better with more dirt. Both sound great and ideal video as I feel the need for both a 60’s and 70’s tele to go with the Les Paul.
New American classic- didn’t except that one lol. Great vid! I subbed
The regular Telecaster sounds more unique to my ear, but the Deluxe is very cool in its own right.
Genuinely great comparison!! So nice to see different genres and tones and keeping it simple. Ace Job and super helpful 👌🔥
Have got a humbucker tele and been considering switching. On this I'll stick - hummies are better for growl (personal preference)
‘De Looks’ for me; warmer and richer with those humbuckers

"Ah yes, I'm shopping for a Tele so let me find some Tele comparison demos"
*instantly transported to Christmas vacation of 1998*

seriously, GUK and TBS and then I heard mastodon and just said ok ok I’m subbing 🤣
Teles are my fav...my number 1 is my 72 Deluxe with Wide Range HBs
I loved tele without humbuckers.
They are different but I was expecting a more significant difference
Even on computer speakers you can hear the difference (both sound amazing). A little eq and they can be made to sound close enough to be difficult to tell the difference. Long live the tele.
Excellent demo
I was thinking "wow, this guy is awesome playing zelda's lullaby" AND THEN you started playing Action and Action. Great Video!
I freakin' knew I heard that somewhere. Zelda songs sound like magic on guitars.
The Zelda tune sold me on that Deluxe!
wow, did not expect to hear the get up kids, that's awesome!
Thanks so much for an awesome demo really appreciate it. For my money l prefer the Affinity ? Tele l just love that slight edgy raw sound 🙂
One Word : brilliant!
The get up kids was a total surprise, when i see "drive" i was expecting someone playing "back in black" for the 7676767677878989 time kkkkk lol
They both sounded great, but I feel the deluxe is a bit warmer. However, I was really surprised much they sound alike.
Perfect comparison! Thank you!

Both are Telecasters
The Zelda riff made my night 🙌
Thanks for the great comparison. Have you or anyone reading this with experience with the Tele Deluxe’s experienced any issues with the microphonic squealing with the Deluxe humbuckers?
Haven’t had an issue with them on my model 👍
sneaking in some Taking Back Sunday in there
The Deluxe is a fantastic guitar!
OMG, that clean tone test at the start was Sheik's theme from the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time isn't it?
Don’t tell Nintendo 🙂
Shhhhh... 🤐
@@pedrogarciarobleto 🤫🤫
Dat Legend of Zelda was so pretty at the beginning, damn.
FABULOUS video. Very useful ty
Deluxe is definitely FATTER!! I like it
Wow The Get Up Kids! You don't hear that too often.
Taking back Sunday 😌🥺
Deluxe aaaaalllll day
i think the brass sadles are brighter i like the custom i think. what's your fav?
Great demos! Next Tele Deluxe vs Les Paul?
In a few months it will be comin. I've got some Joyo stuff for the next couple months 👍
I’d also like to see this one. For completely irrational reasons, I hate the look of Les Pauls. The Tele Deluxe seems like a Les Paul for people who don’t like Les Pauls.
The classic tele with single pu's has more clarity and character in all modes to me. The humbuckers sound like a muted version unfortunately.
A little Get Up Kids makes anything sound better.
Muy interesante y MUY bien hecha la comparación, gracias!
So which one I should buy for my Son? Any recommendation?

GET UP KIDS 🧡
Which guitar pick do you use?
Jazz 3’s tortex. I think they are .73 thickness 👍
telecasterのモデルを教えてください。
American professional ⅱですか?
Got an Ocarina to go with that first sound bite? #iseewhatyoudidthere
Even though one is from Indonesia I’ll go with it ‘cause rock&roll sounds better with it. A simple telecaster has a tone that I am not used to hear.
Is that Mastodon?
Definitely a get up kids fan
Thanks 👍
I need both😂
Are those from the Vintera Series?
Yes Vintera 50s mod tele and Vintera Roadworn deluxe tele 👍
loves your version of sheiks theme
The song choices tho!
Great video. What's the song at 1:12 - 3 - Cleans (Middle Position)? Thanks
“New American Classic” by Taking Back Sunday
Gotta have em both
Damn, now I need to go buy a Tele Delux......😝
Single coils for life! ^^
Hello,
Is it possible to tell me what’re the differents songs played please ?
Thanks so much
New American classic, wow!!!
not really sure people understand you talking about song %)
I'd buy the humbucker one but I can't stand the strat headstock on a tele.
The 72 thinline reissue has a Tele head and HH
What song name on 2:25 ?
Blood and Thunder by Mastodon!
I´ve got a tele deluxe, but I want to slap a single coil on it, is that like actually possible/a good idea?
Awesome guitars
👍🏻
dude zelda intro ^^
Gosh... I have to say that the regular tele works better, she's got attitude
Single coil VS Humbucking Pickup
