It‘s not just about my broken brooch - the story gets worse, the longer you watch! Make sure to watch til the end, cause the most concering part only starts around minute 08:16
So sorry that atrocity happened to you its horrific! I dont understand the part of posting it up for sale on others accounts thats just aweful what a total nightmare they should be shut down. We dont have anything like that in the USA sounds like a trap to keep the money and not deal with any problems that will cost them. Unbelivable what you had to go through to get your money back.
Hey I bought something and it’s not authentic I’ve had it verified by many authenticators before I got in touch with vestiaire to tell them They’ve asked me to send back the item so they can inspect it??? What do you think I should do ??
Can you please share the email address? I have just seen your video. I bought a pair of Celine sunglasses on the site and have received them and they are completely warped. The two arms are completely missing aligned and you can't wear them. I have tried to report it but their site does not allow me to upload photos and post the dispute. Also no one is answering me on the chat function. I'm going to have to email them to have any luck it seems. After I get this sorted I will not be buying from them again
@@sha-rongamito5752 Always pay with PayPal I used them 14 years for ebay over 1000 transactions and used them now for my Social Security Direct Deposite/Savings. They open cases once its proven something is wrong with the item with photo the money will be returned automatically if the other party Merchant wont respond or if they wont accept returns!
I have stopped doing business with any company that does not have a phone number for Customer Service and a corporate address detailed on their website.
Excellent red flag to be highly cognizant of, I concur. Any time things seem hidden or deliberately difficult to find/sort out it's a red flag. Dolls Kill don't even offer refunds. You are offered a 'gift card' instead. If you have issues with the amount they credit onto this 'card', good luck trying to deal with an actual human and getting it swiftly, painlessly sorted out.
Same here! Horrible experience First time I bought a Chanel bag and I decided not to keep it. VC policy tells you you can relist the bag without commission fee. So I relisted it and the website keeps showing me the commission fee. I started a chat with VC and the only thing they said was: oh well it’s a system error. We can not do anything about that. So in the end I paid around €900 commission fee !! And the second time I bought a bag and when it arrived I had doubts about its authenticity. I went to my local authenticator who confirmed my doubts and i started a chat again with vc. I was able to get my money back because I bought it from a professional seller but when I asked if they would take the bag down they didn’t respond and a few days later the bag was back on sale by the same seller. My mind was blown 😨. No guarantee with VC.
Thank you for sharing your experience - eventhough it‘s shocking! I would have been SO MAD, if I lost 900€ because of THEIR fault - inacceptable to me!
I have a situation now also with buying with a professional seller. I have retured it because I got it authenticated online and it came out as fake. It is in process of their check up now but they clearly told me if it comes real by their standard I can keep it or relist it as a seller for a fee, meaning even if the seller was professional I will not get a 100% refund. How is that possible? Saying that there is no difference between a pro and private seller for customers. I'm so co fused right now..
Thank you for this video. I bought a couple of things from VC and was happy but then I bought a Dior canvas shoulder strap and I had doubts about it's authenticity. I had no way to verify since there is no Dior boutique in my city. I recently purchased another canvas strap from the Dior website and compared the two and the one from VC is definitely a fake. I can't believe how the VC authenticators made that mistake! I left them a message and closed my account.
Wow, this is shocking! They pretend to have authentification experts, but let fakes slip! And if you would have noticed right away, they probably would have forced you to sell on the strap under your own name and profile - like they did with the girl I was chatting with 🤯
That happens because people don't want to buy less quantity but buy new or wait to be able to afford new. I have never buy in VC and will buy new or not buy.
@@EnaCarrasco1968 Thank you for sharing you opinion, even though I think it's not that easy black-and-white-thinking: I think it's wonderful to mindfully take part in slow fashion and act sustainable by buying preloved and elongating the lifespan of luxury items, someone else doesn't use anymore. It doesn't not always have to be overconsumption or lack of money - even tough I am on an average income, I could afford to buy the pieces I like new aswell. But why should I buy everything new from the boutique, if money can be saved by going preloved (money that I then for example can invest into stocks and shares). I do absolutely understand, if buying luxury secondhand is scary to some especially because of the risk involved - but I still think preloved is wonderful (you just have to find a place you can trust)
@@EnaCarrasco1968 Sometimes you have to look at preloved because the item is out of production. In my case I wanted to try a canvas strap in a colour that matched my Dior bag that I bought several years ago. I prefer to buy in person in the boutiques but my bad experience at VC will not rule out preloved. I'm still searching for the matching skirt to a tweed Chanel blazer that I bought in Paris years ago.
Mary, thank you for your courage and honesty in sharing your experiences with Vestiaire Collective. It's alarming to hear about such dubious practices, especially in an industry where trust and authenticity are paramount. Your video serves as a vital warning and eye-opener for many of us in the luxury shopping community. It's essential to have these discussions and raise awareness about the risks involved in such platforms. Hopefully, this will encourage more transparency and integrity in the industry. Keep up the great work with your informative content!
I had terrible experience too. Had to give back items that were damaged even though they charged me for "inspection". When I realised other items had holes too it was too late. lost 400 dollars to them. I was furious and they just ignored me. They had the nerve to charge me for their commission!
Also experienced some sketchy stuff at VC . I tried to buy a vintage Celine Boston and when it arrived at VC office they said that the bag have questionable Celine bag strap but told me to still go ahead on my purchase. Like why??? It’s already questionable. So I said , nope , I’m not taking it. Few days later I’ve seen the bag relisted. But I bought a beautiful authentic Prada bag in there too. I’ve deleted the app since then.
I‘m aswell so glad, that in the end I got my money back - and they tried me once to often! With the information of that girl, there‘s no way to ever trust VC again! (One might end up buying an inauthentic bag, that already got sent back to VC because of authenticity doubts - and then get forced to sell it on aswell 🤯). Unethical is the correct word to describe it!
The other company I'd suggest people completely avoid, especially if ordering from outside America, is Dolls Kill. No refunds. Just a 'gift card'. A problem if you've spent a good chunk of cash and you can't find anything else to buy instead, or an alternative size of the original item is sold out permanently. Their sizing is all over the place so good luck even staying faithful to a size chart. If you want to take a gamble on a return, YOU pay for shipping and you have to generate your own return label AND pay for international shipping too (they also say they are not responsible if your parcel is damaged or 'lost' in transit either, so one isn't filled with great confidence in dealing with them in general). Avoid.
I totally agree. I sold my Birkin on VC. I sent it to them & they were adamant the receipt was not in the bag. I knew for certain it was but they were pushing for me to reduce the price of the bag because of this! I stood my ground & my buyer luckily agreed to trust me. She confirmed that the receipt was in the bag when she received it. Plain lies or incompetence. Either way a very poor experience, huge commission for VC & terrible customer service. Avoid.
At least you got you money. Can you imagine selling a real chanel or birkin to them and not getting paid by VC?? I mean, to those who are selling fakes, of course they have nothing to lose. But those who are selling authentic products, can you imagine not getting paid after you made a sale??😭
I had a similar experience selling my Paris texas ROXY biker boots in black. On every single high end platforms, like Mytheresa and Farfetch, they have been listed as black. And they are black, just with some artificial wear that makes them slightly brownish at some parts of the leather. The sell went through customer check before shipping to buyer and VC wanted me to lower the price due to a non-specific listing, they said. They holded up a Pantone card in brown and had it pictured next to my (black) Roxy biker boots!!! Buyer agreed this was not only foolish but also mishandled by Vestiaire and she wanted to proceed the purchase to the listed price.
So sorry to hear of your experience. I had some listed Chanel items for sale but I removed them after your video. I had to send them the serial number before they could list my articles. I agreed but now I realize they may use my serial numbers to list fakes. I think I’ll try selling them locally instead. Thanks for your video. x
Interesting. I am seeing some items change hands. I see it on one profile, seems to be a good deal, then in a couple of weeks it is on another person's profile at the same price. And now we know why.
Wow, I never noticed with any other items (probably cause I‘m not really searching for anything particular - so I didn’t even realize, when the same items appeared on different profiles). But yep: that’s the sad reason how and why
One Coach, one Fendi bag most definitely. 😅 Even same pictures. But I just bought something and even though the color in the description (and possibly the condition) is clearly wrong, I like the item and the price very much.
I believe your story 100%. I bought and sold my bags through VC before but not anymore. The commission they charge for selling is ridiculously high. I live in Malaysia and the import duties they apply to the items in my cart is inaccurate (much higher than what it‘s supposed to be). I reached out to customer service and they couldn’t explain to me why. In the end, I just gave up. Selling is equally difficult due to the super high commission and exchange rate they charge. I don‘t think I will buy/ sell through again.
Thank you for sharing your experience🧡! When I still shopped with VC, I always limited my search to Europe, to not even get tempted by any items, that would come with high duties!
@@viviannewang9170 hmm, I don’t think 470€ gets you very far these days with a flight, money left for the vacation and even shopping. But I get the point 😁
Hi Mary, that's a real horror story ! I recently sold a few things successfully via VC. I probably won't be buying anything again, even though everything always went smoothly. They were all extremely expensive bags (of course bags 😀) and my feeling is that VC works more unsuspicious in this price segment. I was going to delete the app now anyway, but after your important video I'm doing it with even more conviction. Thank you for that!!
I would assume: the higher the price, the higher the risk with VC 😅🙈 - glad your sales went well! I have to admit: as a seller, I didn’t make any bad experiences with the platform so far myself (it seems to be safer for sellers, than for buyers)
@@LuMiLevelUp Sorry that was misleading. I’ve bought very expensive bags and have sold bags and coats. Since I have nothing to sell at the moment I don’t want to be tempted by the app buying something…
I usually disregard these types of videos because often it’s people getting angry at companies that have pretty normal practices and they just are getting angry when they feel entitled (you know the ones, especially those hermes complaint videos) but this video really does highlight bad company practices. Thanks for sharing I had a bag on my watchlist for a long time I don’t think I’ll be buying.
I wish I was just entitled 😅🙈 but the comments under this video show aswell, how many people made similar or even worse experiences with that company. So glad I can help to raise awareness with my video 🧡
Same thing happened to me! But it was a bag! Same exact story! They are a scam company! Not real authentication people! I have been reselling bags for over 10 years now and can tell these people there are not professional. I just opened dispute with my credit card and got my money back that way! I hope more people report this company.
Exactly same happened to me couple of times before and they give me money back!!! BUT last time I bought boots from bottega Veneto for good price obviously they charge for authenticity and send me but it’s was broken… obviously I wrote to them, thet I believe they are fake…and send boots back to Vestiaire they are putting on sale under my name ( what is absolutely wrong because I’m nothing to do with fake items) obviously it’s not ok for me!!! But on the end someone bought them and I get money back but they also charge commission… I believe it’s unfair from my experience I never will buy from them anymore…😢😢😢😅
Wow I’m left speechless after watching this 😱 someone actually commented on my video about VC that thay used to work for VC in their digital authentication team and that only a small portion of the items go through that authentication step and apparently that’s why so many fakes land on the site. And yet they are charging money for doeing these checks 😤
Not checking all the items that get listed for sale is so irresponsible of VC - especially since they do offer direct shipping and PRETEND, all items at least had a digital check upfront. People that don’t have a deeper brand knowledge might end up with fakes! I would love to get even more insights from ex-employees, cause that whole company seems absolutely shady to me now 🙅🏻♀️
Hmmmm. Whenever I’ve listed luxury items, I’m asked for receipts or serial numbers. It’s also been checked too for condition (maybe not authenticated tho). There was a time I doubted a bags authenticity and I sent it back to them and they re-authenticated it. I eventually sold it (a year later as I didn’t want patent leather bag anymore), listed it through VC and they accused the bag of being of unknown authenticity. The audacity. I had to send them proof that I purchased it THROUGH them. Then they let it sell to the buyer. Till now, idk if it was truly authentic.
@@VBoo459 I heard several people having similar issues with VC, refusing items because of authenticity doubts - that were previously bought on VC 🤯 - HOW can they do that?!
This is really disturbing… there are so many people who rely on the expertise of this company….Selling fakes as authentic is indeed illegal. It WILL catch up with them, it’s only a matter of time. Sharing this for you❤
I got my money back in the end 🙏🏻 - but what I learned along the way, how they deal with authenticity issues aswell is shocking to me 🤯. People need to know (that part starts around minute 08:16 )
Hi Mary, I came over from Dacob’s channel. I’m so sorry what happened to you! It can’t be legal what Vestiare Collective is doing to their customers. My heart breaks for you because that Chanel brooch is so amazing. But this is insanity! And then if they sold it under your name, it’s your reputation that would be tarnished. Bad bad bad! They can kiss my future purchases good bye!
Thanks for sharing your experience with VC. You’re doing a great service for the community to be aware of these practices. I used to sell with the Real real and I had an experience with their authentication dept. The buyer wanted money back and claimed that it was not authentic. I purchased from Saint Laurent store and I could not prove with receipt (from 2 year ago) therefore my item was fake and returned to me. Nothing as traumatic as yours but upsetting enough to close my account with them.
Mary when this video popped up on my feed it caught my eye immediately and even more so when I saw your tag line I said to myself you need to check this out NOW! I recently became a subscriber to VC and while I’ve saved loads of items for some reason I couldn’t say why but I just haven’t purchased anything from them! Now I’m 100% sure that I will not be supporting this platform. I mean if they can do this to a loyal customer then what wouldn’t they do to a newbie like myself!!! I am SO HAPPY that I listened to my intuition because you are spot on & you’ve probably saved me a lot of heartache and money!!!
This happened to me on three occasions when I tried to purchase bags, the order went through and then a few days after I would receive an email to say that the vendor has cancelled my order without contacting me first explaining what the matter was. So after failed attempts, I will no longer be using Vestiare Collective! I have just discovered that Farfetch has pre-loved options which is way better and trustworthy! Great video x
Wow, this is so crazy to hear about. To be honest, I loved VC, I bought my first luxury item on there, and made a few good purchases, but this was in 2018-2020. In 2021 I started running into issues with purchasing. I would make a purchase only for it to never be shipped and I would ultimately get a refund, but this was weeks after the purchase. This happened multiple times to the point where I stopped using the app altogether. They had no indications on which accounts were active, how recently, etc. I don’t know if they’ve fixed this but I was shocked at how illogical this was, for them to make it possible to buy items from inactive accounts. Certainly not as scammy as your experience, (which is so frustrating and I feel angry for you) but just makes me question their competence and intentions. I hope they are held accountable! Thanks for making this video x
Thank you for sharing your experience! I agree, that they used to be better to shop at in the past (I started to browse on the platform in 2017). They actually implemented a feature, to make sure, only items form active members are listed: every few weeks or month (not sure about the frequency right now), they send a reminder to sellers, about the items that are listed and you have to confirm for every single item, that you still want to sell it.
I had a very similar experience with an LV bag. After the second check I asked them to return the bag to me. They wanted me to relist the bag at half the price I paid for it! I was flabbergasted. When I received the bag back, I gave it a professional cleaning and have kept the bag. I now love it despite the flaw I had found. I really couldn't believe they wanted me to sell a $2500 bag for under $500!! I am now very wary of buying from them, and I have not bought a high value item since this experience. Good for you! I also believe that they would have either sold the bag under a pseudonym or someone there would have snapped it up for a steal of a price. Thanks so much for making this video. xxx
The audacity to ask YOU to lower the price, eventhough they didn’t do their job properly with the first check 🤯. Glad in the end you yourself enjoyed the bag!
I have had that same experience, they told me to sell my watch for 400$ and when it sold for my asking g price of 2200$ they want a co.ission of 750$ which is over 35% commission....I still have the watch
Thanks for sharing your experience, it takes courage to open up about an experience like this. I had had a strange situation with a LV pochette that I bought from the VC profile (I was new to the platform). I changed my mind about keeping it since it was an older model but didn’t have the usual tag with codes inside…even if I had it verified by a checker it felt off…so when I sent it back to be returned they told me the condition was different from when I got it because the internal tag was missing, and they had doubts about authencity. Thing is that I never even used the bag or anything…. I had sent it back with the paper tag that had the checker and date it was verified on….In the end the new buyer was informed and still agreed to buy it and I got my cash back…. But it still felt off….. can you imagine that they are now going to be a listed company? Can’t imagine what will happen 😮
Ps: they resold the bag under their own profile again…. Not through me…. Still left an unsettling feeling. Since then I haven’t bought much especially since they also raised fees- now buyers and sellers have to pay admin/authenticity fees- it’s nuts given the context
Thank you for sharing your experience with the platform - eventhough I‘m sorry, it has been a negative one aswell (the audacity of them!). To me it’s so absurd aswell, that they started a fund raiser to get the company on the stock market - they should focus on fixing their issues first (there are SO MANY of them - as the comments under this video show)
You have done us all a favour by making this video for us, thank you for being an honest person and sharing your story. I had a problem with VC and I thought it was just me but I stopped me from ordering from them again because I can’t afford to get stuck with something I don’t want. Recently I began on VC again and your video came at the right time and I think I will be following your example and deleting my account. Can’t wait to hear about your phone call with them. Good luck.
We should all do boxing and unboxing videos when we buy or sell online.......seems that we can't trust these platforms at all.

I agree with you, everyone should speak out. You have a platform, use it, no matter how big or small it is. And even so, unless it happens to you it’s impossible to understand the kind of ordeal they put you through. I tried complaining on TH-cam but comments are blocked (wonder why…) and on Instagram but they hide all the negative ones. Jessica Chastain has just posted a collab with them, I am gonna let her followers know what kind of company she’s promoting and I encourage everyone else to do the same thing because it’s high profile and Vestiaire won’t be able to filter that. They cannot keep getting away with their illegal practices. Even if you take them to court it’s hard to know what the outcome will be because they are neither a store nor a tech company and therefore, at least in Europe, they have loopholes to F*** the clients in anyway they can.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the topic and helping to raise awareness🧡! I hate when VC collabs with bigger influencers: of course they get the very best products and service and therefor have no reason for doubt! But the experiences of „normal people“ with VC have shown over and over again, what kind of shady business practices they use!
I was sold a fake Chloe bag on VC. I had it authenticated by 2 different authenticators and proved to them it was fake. They let me return it and eventually refunded me, after a long fight. Then they just put it back up for sale anyway!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I was about to buy a bag but after hearing your experience I just can’t trust them with my hard earned money. I’m glad you got your money back.
It looks like they are trying to keep their hands clean, by getting the customer to re-sell items they know are faulty/fake. This will come back to bite them on the bum
Most definitely if the customer screen shots the text conversation and the refusal of the company to refund and automatically reselling under the individual without their permission. A lot online sites swear their not subject to the laws of the jurisdiction that purchasers live in but I’m going to bet if a legal issue is raised they are. After all AMERICA took them to court and that’s why we’re subject to taxes now when we purchase.
@@tarreemhacaruso2687 In the UK we have even more purchasing rights if we shop online, companies need to be careful of how they treat their customers. Without customers there is No business.
Thank you for your honesty! I have been wanting to purchase a few bags from Vestiaire Collective, but now after hearing your story, I think I will use other platforms for preloved designer bags. Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing your story.
Thank you very much for you kind words 🧡 - and I'm super happy my video was helpful to you! You definitely save yourself some nerves, if you do not shop on VC
I'm just getting into designer bags and was considering Vestiaire Collective but I was nervous out it, especially since I'm not experienced enough to spot fakes myself. After hearing all these horror stories, I've decided to stick with buying new bags direct from the boutiques! Thank you for sharing your experience and sorry to hear it was so stressful.
I'm so sorry, my experience took the joy out of preloved bags for you. There are some great deals out there, but VC definitely isn't the platform, I would recommend to hunt for them 💔
this could also be damaging your reputation as a seller. if you think it's fake and then they re-list a possibly fake bag on your page, that brings into doubt anything else you have listed on your page and your buyers won't trust you anymore. in the resale world the reputation of the seller matters a lot especially for ppl who do this for a living.
Exactly! This is such a shady practice of VC, they just try to make the customers „do all the dirty work“, selling on faulty or fake items! And VC cashing in SEVERAL times (with the sellers fee and now aswell buyers fee: everytime the item gets sold). Who ever came up with that concept at VC is clever - but criminal (in my opinion!)
@@LuMiLevelUpthey recently launched a campaign to raise investment from the VC customers. I got somewhat interested so checked the company files they provided. Around 2019/2020 they had a change of hand in CEO and ever since they steadily increased the buyer expense. I remember back in 2019/2020 shipping was free. Now it’s at least 15€ and useless custom fees when shopping overseas that they don’t even pay for (allegedly). Apparently, VC is expanding for investors and ultimately aiming for an IPO. It’s clear whose interest they’re serving nowadays.
I totally agree with you. I bought several items (from GBP 200 to 1000 per item) since 2018. Until March 2023, I bought a Prada hat (GBP 360) which I immediately spotted that it was fake upon receipt (coz I have an authentic one in another colour) and even a non- Prada fan could identify it! All I could do was to follow the way they advised to report. I sent it back with all details mentioned within one hour after I received. It took them over 7 days to give me a reply saying that the hat was genuine after second check, their team was experienced in brand name items!!! Then the story with VC was exactly the same as yours except putting it to lawsuit .... The point is clear in this video 15:20! I got to know a lady who worked at Prada for 8 years. After she saw the pics I showed her, she was very firm to say that the hat was a COUNTERFEIT!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with VC and validating, that it was not a one-time exception in my case, but seems to strategically happen again and again
This is shocking. I’ve heard that some people haven’t had the best experience in the past but the small number of pieces that I have purchased are fine. That said, I wouldn’t feel comfortable shopping with them in the future knowing this and was already put off since they raised their charge to the buyer. It seems like they are only concerned with profits so time to look elsewhere for pre loved. Thank you for speaking out and raising awareness!
So many people have had issues with VC. It is definitely a badly run organisation, so many people have had issues with them. I would never buy from them. Never! I feel for you! Thank you for the video!
Thank you Daniel, I FINALLY learned my lesson, this time for real! This has not just been a misunderstanding or different opinions, this is malicious fraud!
Disgraceful, well done for speaking up and fighting your corner. I went onto their FB page to check the reviews and was not surprised to find that they have removed the option to leave a review, they are clearly aware of the negativity surrounding their brand. However, I will not never use VC in future. Thank you for posting this video.
My first and also last experience with VC: I bought a Marc Jacobs pillow bag in 2022 from the VC profile, not from a seller's profile. When it arrived, I noticed right away something was off, although they had labeled it "authenticated". I compared it to an authentic pillow bag in another color that I already had, bought at a Marc Jacobs store. I took photos of the differences and sent them to VC. It took 3 days of mailing back and forth before they finally agreed to take it back. In the end I got a refund and I deleted my profile. Never again!
Thank you for sharing your VC-experience🧡! It‘s shocking, how many people experienced problems with their quality control and authentications checks. As if just someone there just takes a quick look, without even having any deeper knowledge on the brands and without comparing to authentic items 🤯
Oh Mary!!! I am so sorry this happened to you but happy that you got your money back! I shopped with them once and went smoothly. BUT, I don’t have no time or energy to fight them if that happens to me. So THANK YOU for sharing your experience! I WILL NEVER SHOP Vestiaire! Nope nope nope!
Thank you for your kind words and support 🧡 - I made so many good experiences with them in the past: but with the knowledge I have now about them, there’s no way to ever trust again!
OMG I can feel the flames as you speak. I don't know how you got through it without letting them really have it! So sorry this happened to you. Was thinking about becoming an affiliate. Glad I found you beforehand. Thank you.
I will never shop with Vestiare again! I purchased a bag listed as never worn. When it arrived I’m the leather seemed very dry so I had it authenticated and the bag had been painted. I contacted Vestiare and they said that t was outside the 72 hour period so my option was to resell the bag if I wasn’t happy. The bag wasn’t as listed and is likely fake - and 72 hours isn’t enough time to have a bag authenticated, particularly in person. This is definitely an unfair contract term. I was not aware of the 72 hour term and it doesn’t seem to be prominently displayed.
Yesterday I had a phone call with VC (because my video got quite some attention, they reached out to me and they wanted to apologize... currently I'm still working on an update-video, where I share some more information about that call). They told me, that there is NO LIMIT for returns, if an item turns out to be inauthentic. Cause I told them, that I got quite worried about all the purchases I made in the past, now that I read through all of these terrible experiences, people had made and shared in the comments. So if you can prove, that bag is fake - the have to take it bag! The difficult part about it: they say, they don't trust any other authentication services and it has to be proven with unambiguous details or by the brand itself.
Thank for yr sharing. I have planned to purchase a Balenciaga bag thru their website but I found there is a lot of bad experience from YT. I gave up the plan and turn into shop . Money buy confidence on the product 😂
I was going to sell an item there and I was thinking about buying a couple items but this horrible gut wrenching feeling always came over me and I stoped glad to know my gut feeling wasn’t wrong but so so sorry this happened. Enough people need to stand up and speak up with their experiences and only then will it change. Thank you for telling the world and getting the message out this helps us all 🙏🏼💕♥️
I'm sorry you had such an awful experience. I've sold several items, and they were very strict with accepting items. Verifying authenticity. I even had things refused when showing original sales receipt, all tags etc. I had to resend information to get it listed again. I have never purchased anything. I'm shocked after how difficult it was to get the authentication on my items, I would have trusted them. Not anymore. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your experience! I sold a few items over the years aswell and never had to provide any additional information 😳 - only once they rejected a Bottega Veneta wallet, which I myself had bought preloved. Overall my selling experience were far more pleasant than my buying experiences.
Yes I had the same experience! VC kept asking me for more photos een though there is a limit on how many photos you can submit. I did try to find out what the problem was with the photos and serial number clearly sown but they just kept repeating that they needed more photos. I thought this was so odd that I didn't try to relist my bag and just kept. There is something very strange about their operations 🙃😕
@@acertree1980this happens all the time on VC because is bots dealing with the digital authorization. I’ve had items that have been refused up to 11 times after sending all info and photos requested and then tried to listed again and went through without a problem. It’s crazy, frustrating and surreal the way they work. Their Chat us also dealt by bots most of the times
same here. they rejected all of my recent submissions but accepted a pair of Chanel shoes and that pair happens to have no serial number... all others I submitted had the serial number and one has receipt... I thought the ones without the serial number would have gone through with more difficulties but nope. Do they really know how to authenticate??
After watching this video, I've deleted my Vestiaire app. I've had 4 purchases so far and 1 turned out to be fake. I didnt bother reaching out to customer support anymore since the item wasnt crazy expensive and i didnt want to bother with the hassle. I'm glad this video popped up in my feed, it was a sign that I needed to delete this app. 😅
You safed yourself some nerves, with not reaching out to them because of the fake you recieved. But it should not even have passed their authenticity check to begin with! Glad my video helped you to step back from them!
OMG thank you so much for sharing! This is definitely illegal. They are not only scamming but also force innocent customers to be a part of their scam! I only sold a few things on VC and had no issues. But I would never buy anything from there!
That's what's so horrible to me: they force regular customers to get involved and sell on the items, they weren't happy with in the first place (due to condition or authenticity doubts.... allegedly)
I also had to open dispute with my credit card company as VC refused to return my money. That was the last piece of that company. And I used thousands of euros during these last years in VC. Their customer service is scam. Very scary
Same with me: I spent THOUSANDS on that platform - yet still, when there is a problem: there seems to be hardly any support at all - we have to fight so bad, to get our money back (and sometimes only ever do, if we get our credit card companies involved)
My buying experiences with Vestiaire so far have been good, including their customer service. It was the sellers that I found frustrating to communicate with. But that is a different topic. A broken item is very concrete. But in cases of disagreements between authenticators, which can happen, because no authenticators have a 100% accuracy score, why would they re-list on buyers' profile, instead of sellers'...? I just did a bit of a shopping spree at Vestiaire .... 😳 Now I am VERY nervous ...
I agree, authentication can be more tricky, than clearly seeing, an item is broken. But I think, if there is any doubt at all, VC should offer better customer service and make up for it. Fingers crossed that everything will be fine with your purchases🤞
I bought three bags two Pradas, one Chanel, but fortunately they were new with original dustbag, card, number, Box and even receive… but then I saw a youtube video from Trinny from England, she mentioned she bought a Chanel bag via Vestiaire and it was a fake…How can it be possible in they have so many experts? IF indeed they have them…
@@missswiss7538 But that goes back to my point about authenticators not agreeing which each other. It is like evaluation of market price, all conclusions are based on available data, but not evaluators agree with each other. Ultimately, in my personal opinion, we, as end consumer, must have a certain comfortable level of knowledge about a product to have to make the final conclusion ourselves. If we do not have that confidence, we should not take the risk.
Mary!!! Just wow!!!😮. That’s unbelievable! How can they do that, it can’t be legal! I don’t even know what to say! I am going to share this video so hopefully more people will see it and be informed.
Thank you for your support and sharing Dawn! People need to know, how shady that company behaves! Definitely no more VC booty calls for me - enough is enough 🙅🏻♀️
OMG, this is alarming!!! I suspected there's something wrong with this company too. They were asking VC members to crowdfund, and so many friends told me after successfully sold their items on VC, they had to chase VC like a dog for payments.
They had to chase them for their money?!Actually alarming! I never made bad experiences as a seller myself, but I definitely could never trust VC again!
I sell on VC since 2006 and all the payments are pushed straight to my bank account no problem in 8 years. But I understand many people have horror show stories. I have had a couple of glitches but I get more money for my items there even tho a 20 to 1 sales versus Posh which has superior customer service and 100% refunds to keep everyone happy.
If this ever happens again to someone, I would suggest to them to state openly in any offer messages that the object is broken, Vestiaire has listed the item through your account without consent (very important legally; state it is WITHOUT your consent) and also state if you have asked them not to do it, but they have refused to listen. This creates a record; a paper-trail if you will. If enough customers on the website openly encounter sellers who are nonconsensual in the item being listed through their account it will eventually become wide-spread known information. Please do not "hide in shame", stand up to what the company is doing at you / to you. Silence perpetuates the problem; abusive practices continue through a lack of public awareness.
I have not used Vestiaire before, but I did have an account with the RealReal. I closed it because I wanted to sell something and the website said I could sell things and they would send an e-mail back / respond to my inquiry. The next day I received a phone call with a RealReal representative who wanted to verbally discuss the matter, not through e-mail. I told this person, very clearly, that I was bothered they had tracked down my personal information; they did not have my phone number, but they did have my payment information. They had used my payment information to then find out what my phone number was. The lady on the phone said she had no idea how the information was sourced (and I don't assume she would know) and was just given a service ticket to call my number and discuss "what prices I was hoping for"... Verbally, aka no record or paper trail. She also wanted to discuss my browsing history on the website, which I found concerning; it was not items I had favorited, but search terms and items I had clicked on. She wanted to offer me a discount on specific objects if I would list my item at a specific price. To say the least, I ended the phone call politely at that point and told the lady (politely) that this interaction had made me feel uncomfortable and I would not be working with the RealReal or purchasing from them. I then wiped my account the next day.
Thank you so much, this is a great comment 🙏🏻! Items on VC do have a comment section aswell, so maybe it’s worth, putting that disclaimer there aswell (eventhough VC monitors, filters and censores all conversation & comments on the platform - they just delete, what they don’t like. Like they did it with my conversation with that girl aswell, it just suddenly disappeared). But it’s definitely worth a try! Sellers do get notified, everytime someone favors an item: so they could text the interested party right away and warn them. My biggest concern is, that probably many would still want to sell on these faulty items, to at least get a part of their money back - so many probably don’t speak up, cause then they might never get any money back, if the item never sells. It’s such a difficult topic and definitely so so shady of VC!
@@TeaCupCracked wow, your RealReal experience sounds very concerning for our privacy aswell 😳. Luckily they don’t ship to Germany and I never even got tempted with them!
They are no professionals: no one in VC can tell the difference between an authentic piece and a fake; prices are set based on the mood of the day; they never listen when you reach out to the Customer Care ... I stopped shopping with them a long time ago. Best decision ever! I hope they go bankrupt soon.
Thank you so much for this great albeit shocking video! I've been buying and selling luxury items on VC for a few years and had my own share of frustrating experiences with their customer service. However, it didn't go as far as your case and I'm honestly speechless to hear about the amount of dishonesty that happened to you (and apparently others based on the comments!). The secondhand online market is booming and other platforms are now offering authentication services. I think and hope that VC will feel the competition soon and finally make an effort to offer a customer service that is in line with the luxury names in their portfolio.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on them! Surprisingly they did offer me a phone call, when my video got quite some attention - they apologized, but I don’t think they will actually change a thing. I could never again trust them!
I once saw a pair of blue Manolo Blahniks and they were brand new but with a super low price. I somehow didn’t trust why someone could sell them so cheap if they are brand new. Coincidentally someone else posted a pair I could compare with and was so obvious that the cheap ones were fake. 1. They had a glossy bottom and 2. the font on the inner label was incorrect and 3. The letters were way bigger than the original ones and not straight. I posted a comment on the item because it was not possible to write a private message and I pointed out all the flaws. The seller replied to say they are authentic because they were approved by Vestiaire Collective. I am 99.9% sure those shoes were fake. They got sold to someone 🤯
Isn’t this incredibly shocking?! If the customers - like you - are able to do a better authentication-job, than their own „experts“, who even charge for it? Glad you didn’t end up buying them, but so sorry for the person who did 💔
So many fake items on this platform you don’t have to be even an expert to find out. Fun fact i wanted to sell a gucci bag ( which was purchased at a gucci boutique!) n they were telling me the bag was fake .. without seeing it! I told the story my SA at Gucci they were shocked..
Wow! Great video. I used to shop and sell when they were Tradesy. Loved working with them bought and sold a bunch from.then. when Vestsire took over it was a nightmare. Full of customer dis service and avoidance techniques. I agree with you that thks is their intention to not help and to take commission and leave everyone hanging. Horrible. I only deal with Fashionophile and Rebag or individual resellers. Gods for you for exposing this.
I would reexamine all my past purchases from them to confirm authenticity once again given what (allegedly) seems to be ongoing issues. Maybe they (allegedly) were more careful in the past and have gotten sloppy nowadays. Thanks so much for sharing. Never done business there and don't plan to. Encourage all to speak up - add 'allegedly' to be safe so we can weed out unscrupulous resellers and sellers.
Thank you for your support with this comment! I got a little bit worried about some of my older purchases aswell (eventhough I already had some of them successfully authentificated from a third party) - definitely do consider to get some more authentifications done on my older purchases
I was going to place a large order with them. I was researching before checking out. Thank you for sharing. I won’t be ordering you saved me a large amount of $$$$.$$
Glad my video was helpful to you! VC actually reached out to me, to at least apologize (but just AFTER my video blew up). So better be safe than sorry 🧡
It’s sad when things don’t go well then you realize how good or bad their customer service is. I hope this doesn’t happen again, it’s a shame sometimes customer service is non existent.
Hi Mary! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I loved VC before until I came across a lost package. I sold a Alice & Olivia Jacket at £75 (I was supposed to earn £60) and I sent it out via Evri to the buyer directly. Unfortunately the buyer's name listed in the package is not the same as her ID which means Evri didn't allow her to collect the package. I tried to have VC Customer Service Chat to help and of course, the team was not helpful and dropped my chat / email. They said they couldn't help as I sent it directly to Evri! They generated the shipping label and I couldn't recall my package directly! Finally the order cancelled and I couldn't get my jacket back or that £60! Honestly I had no other issues with selling or buying stuffs in VC except the above. I will just suggest VC to cancel the "direct shipping" options which protects both buyer and seller!
Thank you for sharing your experience - even tough I'm sorry it was a negative one aswell 💔. Their customer support is not very supportive, when we actually need their help
Thank you very much for this video. I also had a situation when I sold a bag, the buyer has received it but they canceled the order and I did not get the money!!! The money is not worse the legal case we are talking about 70 Eur. But it is about the fact that they basically have stolen my bag. This is really OMG.
Luckily it were "just" 70 EUR and not a more expensive item! But still - this was your bag and you definitely should have gotten the money! So sorry for your experience and thank you for sharing it!
Bad experience with them once. An Alaïa skirt they sell me in "perfect" condition but with an unnoticed default they resell at lower price. No option for refund. A huge new European bill is going to pass concerning authenticity norms for vintage and reseller like Vestiaire. Because there are many frauds. Many of them are going out of business
Thank you for sharing. I have felt this same way about VC and their practices, spending over 10k usd I’m done with their lack of costumer service and suspicious practices, lack of consistency between listed items and descriptions and overall bad taste in my mouth. I enjoyed the site for its vintage appeal but at the end it seems like the items end up costing more than advertised or the quality is extremely poor, and you have to accept your fate with purchased items because how you explained it is an extreme up hill battle to get your money back. I enjoyed the other website more (before it turned to Vestiaire Collective) because on the other site at least site credit was issued for returned items. Thank you for bringing this to the light. I hope it helps others be aware!!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences! It really seems like a gamble, if one is going to have a pleasant purchase or a whole lot of stress, whilst trying to get ones money back
I have the same experience with VC. The bag was supposed to be new, but it had a quality problem. The customer service informed me that there is nothing wrong with the bag and that the bag was sold in my name. Fortunately, I won the case through my credit card company so that I got my money back and got the bag off my name. But never again!
Thank you for sharing your very similar experience! It shows, that is was not just a misunderstanding/mistake in my case, but that VC acts that way on a regular basis!
I just received an item that also has flaws and customer support says they can only relist the item but no answer regarding the obvious flaws. I bought the item using PayPal and have opened a dispute. For the credit company, did you need to provide proof other than the pictures? Did VC defend the case ?
@@minniekay240 I didn’t need to get my payment provider involved this time, but had a similar experience about a year ago. Back then I had to put together a lot of screenshots to prove, that I initially tried to solve th problem with VC, but that they didn’t help me.
@@minniekay240 I took pictures of conversation with VC (which they always closed when they couldn't explain me why they accepted the scam). I sent the pictures to the credit card company. And also pictures of the bag and quality issue and the original selling information in VC's website (not any mention of the quality issue).
I am so sorry to hear about the despicable treatment that you received at the hands of the unethical folks at VC! I’ll be removing my listings and continuing to focus on Poshmark where their customer support team is truly marvelous. They stand behind everything that is sold, so if anything is questionable they accept returns without issue. Stop by the site sometime - you may end up becoming a Poshmark convert! 😘
Thank you for your support with this comment 🧡! I‘m not sure, if Poshmark does operate in Germany aswell (and if so, if they have a big selection here aswell 🤔) but I‘m definitely going to check it out!
Mary I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through this.😢 Honestly it would make me sick and my anxiety would go through the roof. If anyone I know ever mentions VC I will definitely tell them to stay away.
Thank you Debbie 🥰 it actually did cost me so many nerves and I‘m glad I got my money back in the end. But I definitely don’t wish anyone to have to go through this 🧡
Many thanks for this video. It was great and I liked the fact that you did not hide your emotions. Anyone would feel the same way in your situation. I'm just sorry you had to go through all that crap.
I'm glad i research before buying from a website the first time. You saved me money and time and the bad taste of having to go through this. Thank you!!
My experience: I had a couple OK purchases on VC, but stopped buying from them when an Altuzarra dress I ordered was, in fact, an Altuzarra for Target item! How did I know? Because I had the Target dress and was hoping to purchase the higher-end one thinking it would fit better. I couldn't believe they had "experts" who vet the authenticity who either couldn't tell this was a Target dress, or didn't bother to note it on the listing. When I photographed them side by side, they had to give me a refund. I never bought from them again.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Stories like this make me doubt the qualifications of their so called "experts". It's the same with items that are clearly in a worse condition that listet: if they can not even see, what's obvious even to the untrained eye, how would they be able to tell an authentic piece from a super fake?
VC has definitely been spiraling down for a while now. When I last browsed for vintage deals from high end brands, it was mostly ridiculously priced damaged junk. eBay is so much better and business sellers are much more visible there. VC is like a wild west garage clearout sale 😱The platform seems to just want to get the fee and not do any work.
I agree! I‘ve been on the platform since 2017 - and back in they days made hardly any negative experience (and if something was not to my liking, there still was a phone support and issues actually got sorted out in the customer‘s favor)… but not anymore! The past 2-3 years I had way more negative experiences with them, than good ones. And what I had to learn now, is unacceptable! Probably they just grew too much, too fast and now can not keep up with service, quality & safty anymore 💔
Years ago I bought a YSL bag on VC and the condition wasn't to my satisfaction, something was off. The leather was kind of sticky, even though it was listed as "very good". I decided to sell it again and once it was sold, I was told the bag was fake by VC. And when I told them it was the exact same bag they approved with their authentification just a few months earlier they told me "well, we weren't 100% sure the first time around". At least they gave me my initial money back, but it was pretty shocking to hear, that they would even consider to forward something to the buyer if they aren't 100% sure its real. I personally wouldn't buy brands that are known to have fakes on sites like VC anymore, the risk is just too high.
I‘ve bought a Prada nylon tote bag on the Vestiaire profile because they offer free returns if you buy it from a professional seller. The bag was supposed to be in perfect condition but arrived with a broken handle which was not mentioned in the description. 😅Luckily I could return the item and I was suprised to receive an email from them confirming that the item was in fact not in perfect condition as described. A few days after they reuploaded the same item and of course did not add any information in the description about the broken handle 😂
I'm lost for words! Why can't they adjust the description?! The next buyer will not be satisfied either. But glad you at least didn't have to go trough all these hassles, to be able to return the bag!
Thank you so much for making this informative video. I haven’t actually purchased anything from Vestiaire Collective and now I know I never will. Not ok what they’re doing.
Wish I had the time, money and energy to actually take legal action against them (WISH I was a lawyer/attorney myself - I would love to start a legal fight with them 😅🙈)

@@LuMiLevelUp One single lawsuit is never gonna do the trick. If their practice towards consumers looks like this, imagine what their legal strategy against one person is. What they need is a Class Action Suit backed by a myriad of pissed clients and Consumer boards across Europe. It's the kind of thing that also gets media attention because, honestly, what they do is scandalous and people should know about it. Anyone else seeking revenge hit us up!
this is horrifying! commenting to boost this because more people need to see this. i will never buy from their site now. thank you and i'm so sorry that happened to you. when you described the way you felt from the interaction i felt so bad. no company should make a person feel this way :(
I bought a bustier that was meant to have been by Dolce & Gabbana from there, and when I got it I could see how badly made it was, and the lace up part was literally a shoelace with the plastic ends. I did the same as you and asked for a refund. They took back the item and did a check but they did refund me (thank goodness). They said that their check showed the item was authentic and they relisted it on the site, not under my name though. This was about a year and a half ago though, so maybe they have gotten even worse since then, seeing as they did not even offer you a refund initially.
Dacob brought me here 👋🏼 I’m sorry you had to go through that. It’s one of the reasons I never buy preloved….from such sites. It’s just too many hassles. If I couldn’t get it in the store directly from the brand, then it wasn’t meant to be. I’m glad you were able to get your money back. Thank you for the video 👏🏼🙌🏼
I got the app. Tried to ask some question on items. Was blocked by them from asking questions and then unblocked and when I asked why, they wouldn’t say. I said it’s not ok to just restrict accounts and not tell people why. Their customer service is shocking. Scripted responses. Lack customer experience. Shocking service. No one cared. Asked for it to be escalated. No one would. Deleted account and told them delete all my data as their service was sh!t! Disgusting.. would avoid at all costs.
Thank you for commenting and sharing your experiences with VC! Their customer service (or better: lack of) absolutely is shocking! Hope they’ll have to deal with consequences for their shady practices one day!
Yup, you will see the same responses telling you to wait, (only when they respond cos they ususally don't respond for days). They will haunt you to stop asking and say the more you ask, the longer you're going to wait. So you are not allow to keep on asking when you don't see your payment after a sale was made successfully. And they monitored and block most of the messages I received from buyers or sellers.
I had a case 2 years ago where Vestiare sent me the wrong bag - I thought I had purchased a Celine box bag in the medium (going by the dimensions listed) and received the teen model instead. The bag was sent back for a 2nd check and they claimed that was no fault on it, and that I received the bag per the listing. This back-and-forth went on for a week and thankfully I had all the photos of the mismatched measurements until they finally budged and refunded me. It really makes me question how they 'authenticate' items.
Thank you for sharing your experience! So true: if they can not even correctly take measurements, it makes you doubt the ability of their team to authenticate!
I used to think eBay was the worst but now I’m not so sure. VC is just ruining their own reputation through poor service and trying to take the easy way out. It’s disgraceful.
I might give ebay a shot in the future 😂🙈 - maaany many years ago, I made some not so good experiences with ebay (and haven’t really shopped with them ever since). But I feel like ebay tried to really improve their services and safety in the recent years - whilst VC just got worse and worse
I have bought a few things from eBay that were fake and they were good with returns and refunding me my money but I do not sell anything on eBay anymore because I got used by a buyer and eBay couldn't do anything about it. Basically I sold a very expensive Tiffany diamond ring and the buyer later said it was fake and I opened up a case to refute their claim. eBay sided with me and said the ring was authentic and closed the case. The buyer then went through PayPal independently and reversed the charge and I had to refund the buyer including the cost of them returning the ring! Thank goodness I did receive my ring back but the buyer had worn it for a month and scratched it up. Lesson learned was don't sell anything online if PayPal is involved.
Thank you for posting this video. I recently had a very similar experience. I purchased a gold Versace necklace that was counterfeit. I could tell because I purchased the exact matching earrings from a Versace boutique direct, and when I received the necklace it didn't match the earrings at all. The gold was way too yellow, and the metal the necklace was made of was too lightweight and cheap feeling. I also compared it with many other authentic Versace necklaces I own and have purchased in boutique. Versace always uses a very specific gold tone in their jewelry pieces and they don't deviate. The one from VC was very clearly fake when compared to my authentic pieces. I returned the fake to VC and they did a "second check", which I realize now was likely done by someone with ZERO qualified expertise. Then they came back and told me because it "matched the sellers description" it was authentic!?!? Then instead of giving me a refund, and without any further discussion, they re-listed it on my account (without my consent and against my explicit wishes) for sale as an AUTHENTIC Versace piece??!!! Unbelievable! Right away I had 2 people like it. I messaged them and told them not to buy it because it's fake. I also posted a "photo" of this story on the listing to warn others not to purchase it. I have since contacted my credit card company and filed a transaction dispute for being sold counterfeit merchandise, and have also filed a federal police report, and fraud report with my country's federal anti-fraud agency. At this point I don't even care that much about the money, retail businesses should NOT be allowed to get away with this. I will never shop with VC again.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It is so similar to mine - except being forced to sell an inauthentic item, is even worse, than a broken one! I hope you‘ll quickly get your money back from your credit card company and I‘m happy to hear you even took further steps!
omg my friend had the EXACT same experience! she received a bag with a HOLE in the bottom! it was crazy!!! and VC basically did the same thing that they did to you in this video!! can confidently say that i will never be shopping with them AGAIN.
So many people in the comments share similar experiences, it‘s shocking 🤯. It can’t be a mistake by accident anymore, they seem to do it systematically (alledgedly 😅🙈)
@@LuMiLevelUp For sure!! I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't not on purpose. Thanks so much for sharing your story BTW!! My friend and I only had a hunch, but we feel so validated that our hunch was legit!
I have bought and sold quite a few items via VC for years but have since stopped buying and selling on the platform. I once bought a vintage Dior Trotter bag (this was 2-3 years before Dior reissued their Trotter monogram into their collection) listed as 'Very Good Condition' - as I see nothing wrong with the item, complete with lock and keys, I decided to buy it. When it arrived, however, the lock was there but there were no keys as shown in the photos on the listing. When I contacted Customer Service regarding this, it took a while for them to respond and when they did, the CS said that there really were no keys. When I referred her to the original listing, the CS rep just said that they cannot do anything about it so I can just return the item, if I wanted to and they would refund it. As I didn't want to argue anymore and didn't have the energy with all the back and forth, I decided to keep the bag without the keys. However, I was really turned off as I could tell they do not put care when packing items and that their CS wasn't exactly responsive and accommodating.
Thank you for sharing your experience 🧡! I wouldn’t even rule out, that the bag still came with the keys from the seller to VC and that they themselves somehow lost the keys, when doing their check. I once experienced something similar with a LV key pouch: the description said, it would come with the original receipt - when the package arrived, there was no receipt at all 🙄 (and VC didn’t even notice or at least didn’t consider to inform me). They offered me aswell to either send it back and refund me, or to keep it and get a 20% coupon for my next purchase. Back then I kept the pouch and took the coupon - hadn’t already made that many bad experiences with them 🙈 but probably it should have already been a warning for me back then!
I ordered a bag last year, and it was send by them and the package was empty and i never received anything from them back, they aasured me that the bag was in the package..i read online that a lot of girls received empty orders..so thanks for sharing your experience, something needs to be done with the platform
This is absolutely shocking 🤯 I wish you would have filmed yourself whilst opening the package, to have evidence THEY made the mistake. So sorry for your terrible experience with them!
VC was great for a long time, but nowadays I really don't trust them. Customer service is completely shit and they're selling fakes. :( All they want is more money, they don't care of customer experience...
I bought a Dior mini luggage bag/aluminium and I knew as soon as I received it that it wasn’t authentic. I was able to prove it wasn’t authentic. There was no apology and they got a second opinion and just refunded me. My issue was there was no explanation. I did my own research and sent them links to show it wasn’t authentic. Why say they have pro authenticators when they miss obvious markings. Insane. Totally had enough of them. It’s not the first time. I had Entrupy verify another item and it wasn’t authentic, yet passed their authentication process. Cannot be trusted. The customer service is very poor. I’m totally sorry you had to go through this, they were clearly lying about your brooch. Glad you got refunded. ❤
Thank you for sharing your experience with VC - I uploaded an update video on the VC topic, cause they called me after my video got quite some attention. It get's more funny with your comment: cause they apologized to me in that call and aswell gave me the chance to ask some questions. One of their answers to my questions was, that they solely trust their own authentication experts, cause they would be very knowledgeable in what they're doing. Bad joke 😭
@@LuMiLevelUp I’m glad that they did apologise to you, because it was a horrible experience that you had. They cannot trust their authenticators if they make multiple mistakes/errors. The very first time it happened, they sent a discount voucher of £15%. The Dior bag, I got nothing in terms of an apology, no explanation, just a refund appeared after I did my own research and sent links. I’m thinking that it’s either broadly known that there are bad practices within the company, or they have a few employees that they need to fire and clean up the company’s behaviour. 🫶👌
They sold me a fake LV epi leather bag. So fake, sold as new” but it had bad stitching and glue everywhere. They only accepted return and refund when I treated to report them to my credit card company
I bought I barberry coat and arrived damaged and stinking. I had to keep it they didn’t do anything even do it had two huge whole on it. Never again. Everyone talks about the real real, but I actually never had a bad experience with them.
Were you allowed to send it in for a second check or didn’t they even offer that option to you? Their customer service is just the worst 😭 Thanks for sharing 🧡
I commented this already as a reply to someone else but I’ll put it as a main comment too. There was a time I doubted a bags authenticity and I sent it back to them and they re-authenticated it and sent it back to me. I eventually sold it (a year later as I didn’t want patent leather bag anymore), listed it through VC and they accused the bag of being of unknown authenticity. The audacity. I had to send them proof that I purchased it THROUGH them and it went through apparently TWO authentications by them. Then they let it sell to the buyer. Till now, idk if it was truly authentic.
Yes, definitely put that comment for everyone to see! Cause that’s just crazy! 🤯 AUDACITY is the only word to describe it (and the shocking thing about it: it’s not the first time, that I hear about issues like that - I think I once saw a SuperDacob video, where people had similar experiences with VC!)
This happened to me also but with Chanel vintage handbag (2000€). I totally agreed that this is true. You will loose lot of your time fighting with them, they see that you don’t have any right as a consumer (with is not true as in Europe you have). Thank you so much from this video ❤this topic is important.
@@LuMiLevelUp I watched until the end! Yeah I’m definitely leaving VC. I have never purchased but found a beautiful near vintage bag on the platform but I’m too nervous to buy it.
@@handbagaddicted it‘s a pitty, cause there definitely are beautiful pieces at great prices (and over the years I scored quite some gems on VC). But knowing, what I know now about their practices, I could never trust them again! Better be safe than sorry 🧡
Hey I bought something and it’s not authentic
I’ve had it verified by many authenticators before I got in touch with vestiaire to tell them
They’ve asked me to send back the item so they can inspect it???
What do you think I should do ??
Can you please share the email address? I have just seen your video. I bought a pair of Celine sunglasses on the site and have received them and they are completely warped. The two arms are completely missing aligned and you can't wear them. I have tried to report it but their site does not allow me to upload photos and post the dispute. Also no one is answering me on the chat function. I'm going to have to email them to have any luck it seems. After I get this sorted I will not be buying from them again

Thank you for speaking up about another problematic company!@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293
Very good advice. Especially for those who were falling into their Crowdfunding trap, they need to be aware of this!!!!
Same here! Horrible experience
First time I bought a Chanel bag and I decided not to keep it.
Omg that’s terrible 😱😱😱
I have a situation now also with buying with a professional seller. I have retured it because I got it authenticated online and it came out as fake. It is in process of their check up now but they clearly told me if it comes real by their standard I can keep it or relist it as a seller for a fee, meaning even if the seller was professional I will not get a 100% refund. How is that possible? Saying that there is no difference between a pro and private seller for customers. I'm so co fused right now..
How will you know if it's a professional seller?
I have very similar experience. bought several items with VS and was happy about those until my latest purchase, a Dior Bag… Lesson learned
Thank you Naomi, I really hope this video can reach as many people as possible! I could NEVER trust VC ever again!
I had terrible experience too. Had to give back items that were damaged even though they charged me for "inspection". When I realised other items had holes too it was too late. lost 400 dollars to them. I was furious and they just ignored me.
They had the nerve to charge me for their commission!
@@anesnt6645 so sorry to read your experience - it’s incredible how they treat their customers!
What a disreputable company. I’m happy that your money was refunded. I’d NEVER deal with them. Thanks for exposing their unethical practices!❤
@@LuMiLevelUp ❤️
Avoid.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Wow this is crazy, as if they did not even take s proper look inside of the bag 🤯
At least you got you money. Can you imagine selling a real chanel or birkin to them and not getting paid by VC?? I mean, to those who are selling fakes, of course they have nothing to lose. But those who are selling authentic products, can you imagine not getting paid after you made a sale??😭
@@Sandy-v9w2m it‘s inacceptable 😫
I video record myself packing things up i wonder if that would help but liars will lie so who knows
Thanks for your video. x
Thank you for your support with this comment 🧡
Interesting. I am seeing some items change hands. I see it on one profile, seems to be a good deal, then in a couple of weeks it is on another person's profile at the same price. And now we know why.
Wow, I never noticed with any other items (probably cause I‘m not really searching for anything particular - so I didn’t even realize, when the same items appeared on different profiles). But yep: that’s the sad reason how and why
One Coach, one Fendi bag most definitely. 😅 Even same pictures. But I just bought something and even though the color in the description (and possibly the condition) is clearly wrong, I like the item and the price very much.
creepy
Yes because you can relist items bought from non professional sellers if you are not satisfied with the item. You can use the exact same pics
With that price you could have bought a flight ticket and shop while taking a vacation!
@@viviannewang9170 hmm, I don’t think 470€ gets you very far these days with a flight, money left for the vacation and even shopping. But I get the point 😁
I agree about the trick Vestiaire does with the tax calculations. They add about 5-10%.
@@carrino15 really interesting 🤔 I never noticed, since I always just searched within Europe
Thank you for sharing your experience and helping to raise awareness 🧡! People need to know about their shady practices
That’s so scary I never shopped from VC I shop off of Farfetch and fashionphile, it’s so exhausting to buying off of consignment stores online 😭😭
Does VC try to prove that it is indeed authentic? Did you need to provide proof ?
nope, they just "say" they authenticated it. @@minniekay240
Sharing this for you❤
ALARMING!!
I think you did the right thing, warning people about them! Really proud of you.🙏🏻🥰
Thank you 🥰 now let’s hope, the video reaches as many people as possible 🧡
Yes, good someone actually tell the world here.
I would open a dispute with your credit card as they are not helping
I got my money back in the end 🙏🏻 - but what I learned along the way, how they deal with authenticity issues aswell is shocking to me 🤯. People need to know (that part starts around minute 08:16 )
Agree with opening a dispute . The moment you go through the financial institute the respond is quite quick . Had my fair share with grailed and eBay
Hi Mary,
I came over from Dacob’s channel.
Thank you so much and happy you checked out my channel 🧡
Wow. Thank you for posting this. I would have simply disputed with my credit card, but sharing this helps a lot more people.
Thank you for your support with this comment, it helps to warn more people 🧡
Thanks for sharing your experience with VC.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for helping me to reach even more people with this video, by commenting 🧡
Thank you for your kind words! So glad you had the right gut feeling and saved yourself quite some stress 🧡
And VC was scamming their members to crowdfund the company recently too.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Must be so frustrating, when the purchases got canceled all the time (but maybe you‘re better off that way 🙈) 🧡
Unfortunately 😂 I have canceled purchases on vestaire before due to cold feet on my part 😅
Exactly ❤
Good luck.
Thank you for your support with this very kind comment 🧡 glad my video came with the right timing for you
We should all do boxing and unboxing videos when we buy or sell online.......seems that we can't trust these platforms at all.
I had no idea this was happening. Thank you for bringing this situation to light!
Thank you for your support with this comment - so glad when I can raise some awareness 🧡
I was sold a fake Chloe bag on VC. I had it authenticated by 2 different authenticators and proved to them it was fake. They let me return it and eventually refunded me, after a long fight. Then they just put it back up for sale anyway!
I‘m lost for words! This is terrible, inacceptable and if you ask me: illegal aswell! Thank you for sharing this awful experience with the community 🧡
Omg I am soooo shocked…. I deleted this shitty app after the video 🙈

Thank you for your support with this comment - better be safe, than sorry I guess 🧡
It looks like they are trying to keep their hands clean, by getting the customer to re-sell items they know are faulty/fake. This will come back to bite them on the bum
Couldn’t find better words to summarize what’s happening 💯! I seriously hope it will backfire! This is so shady, I‘m lost for words 🤯
This is so true and so shady on their part. That's terrible
The charge for buyers is such a bad joke from them: what for?! Poor customer service, bad quality control and lack of authentication?! No thank you!

Thank you for making us aware!!!
Thank you for your support with a comment 🧡
I was going to sell an item there and I was thinking about buying a couple items but this horrible gut wrenching feeling always came over me and I stoped glad to know my gut feeling wasn’t wrong but so so sorry this happened. Enough people need to stand up and speak up with their experiences and only then will it change. Thank you for telling the world and getting the message out this helps us all 🙏🏼💕♥️
Thank you for your kind words! Glad to hear, you had the right gut feeling right away and didn’t make any negative experiences!
@@LuMiLevelUp you’re welcome ❤️
I think they just do thorough check randomly. And who knows if these authenticators do know enough to do their job.
same here. they rejected all of my recent submissions but accepted a pair of Chanel shoes and that pair happens to have no serial number... all others I submitted had the serial number and one has receipt...
Thank you for letting us know, Marie! So sorry you had to go through those terrible experiences and good for you for lawyering up!
Thank you for your support with this comment 🧡
@@LuMiLevelUp I’m so sorry you had to learn this way! I’m still in shock that they would do this and think it’s ok!
Many people in the comments share quite similar experiences...

I had no idea, VC used to be Tradesy 😳 that’s a really interesting information - thank you for sharing your thoughts with this comment 🧡
Thank you for your kind words, I will not give them another chance to disappoint me again 🙅🏻♀️
@@LuMiLevelUp I agree with you. I will say they are rude in response which makes the customers (both sellers and buyers) frustrated and mad!!

Uuuh very interesting news - it‘s definitely time, something is changing, cause there is too much fraud happening! Thank you for sharing!
@@LuMiLevelUp Yes, and the customer service was very rude.
I am so sorry to hear about the despicable treatment that you received at the hands of the unethical folks at VC! I’ll be removing my listings and continuing to focus on Poshmark where their customer support team is truly marvelous.
Thank you, OMG. I was looking at an item on VC for purchase. I WILL NEVER!
Thank you for your support with this comment 🧡
Thank you for sharing your experience 🧡! I read these kind of horror stories a few times here in the comments: it‘s absolutely shocking!
Thank you for your support with this comment Emma 🧡! I‘m super happy, if this video can help some people, to not make these bad experiences with VC!
That is total CRAP, they won't be around for much longer. One good lawsuit and they are done.
Anyone else seeking revenge hit us up!
this is horrifying! commenting to boost this because more people need to see this. i will never buy from their site now. thank you and i'm so sorry that happened to you. when you described the way you felt from the interaction i felt so bad. no company should make a person feel this way :(
Thank you so much for your kind words! They really offer the WORST customer service, I ever experienced! 💔
Dacob brought me here 👋🏼
I’m sorry you had to go through that. It’s one of the reasons I never buy preloved….from such sites. It’s just too many hassles. If I couldn’t get it in the store directly from the brand, then it wasn’t meant to be. I’m glad you were able to get your money back. Thank you for the video 👏🏼🙌🏼
Happy to have you here 🧡 you‘re right: buying preloved can cause quite some stress 🙈
Wow.. blocking accounts is so so shady.. and just for asking questions!!
Thank you for sharing this. I have been hesitant about buying on VC - now I never will. There are tons of stories like these on Reddit.
It's really shocking, when reading deeper into it: I can't believe how many people had similar experiences and share it here in the comments 🤯
This is completely shocking to me - I am so sorry that that happened to you!!
Thank you for your kind words and support with this comment 🧡
I used to think eBay was the worst but now I’m not so sure. VC is just ruining their own reputation through poor service and trying to take the easy way out. It’s disgraceful.
I might give ebay a shot in the future 😂🙈 - maaany many years ago, I made some not so good experiences with ebay (and haven’t really shopped with them ever since). But I feel like ebay tried to really improve their services and safety in the recent years - whilst VC just got worse and worse
@@hal7469so sorry for your experience! But at least ebay did their best to help!

Wow......I just want to say thank you for letting us know about Vestiaire, because I will NEVER buy from them.
Thank you for your support with this comment 🧡
I'm with you! I've been shopping on VC since 2017 and I really miss the good old days 💔
Thanks for your information.I will stay away from Vestiaire
Thank you for your support with a comment 🧡 every person I‘m able to inform, I‘m so happy about!
They sold me a fake LV epi leather bag. So fake, sold as new” but it had bad stitching and glue everywhere. They only accepted return and refund when I treated to report them to my credit card company
Thank you for sharing your experience with VC! Their authentication „ecxperts“ seem to do such a terribly bad job - what are we even paying for?!
Their customer service is just the worst 😭
Thanks for sharing 🧡
Don’t apologize for being upset. Your RIGHT and they need to change their customer service and sales tactics.
Thank you 🙏🏻 you‘re right: it’s not MY fault, it‘s THEIR‘s!
Thank you so much aswell for sharing your experience and validating mine 🧡 - did you get a refund in the end?
Trying to decide if I pause the video and go cancel my account and stop following certain items. Not sure I can even wait until the end of the video.
Watch til the end and you definitely won’t regret the decision 😁🧡
@@LuMiLevelUp I watched until the end! Yeah I’m definitely leaving VC. I have never purchased but found a beautiful near vintage bag on the platform but I’m too nervous to buy it.
@@handbagaddicted it‘s a pitty, cause there definitely are beautiful pieces at great prices (and over the years I scored quite some gems on VC). But knowing, what I know now about their practices, I could never trust them again! Better be safe than sorry 🧡
