    Thank you for the free lesson Tom. Best instructor on TH-cam. I was struggling big time with my golf swing until i found your channel and then I switched to Stack and Tilt. Thank god for that. Most amateur golfers don't have the time to hit 500 plus golf balls a day for several days a week to process all of those swing thoughts that the other instructors try to each in order to get you to try and swing similar to the pro's. Its a nightmare and thats reason people quit after a few months. The beauty of Stack and tilt is its simple, logical and it works. Thank you for all your great work and help.

      My pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed this episode documenting Derek's lesson, and I sincerely appreciate your kind words regarding my instruction content!
      Indeed, this body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. We can watch any Tour event on TV and see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      Thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. To your comment, compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      Thanks again for your message and support, and keep up the great work!!

      PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
      And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
      You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

    Tom, I'm 71 and started using your methods 3 years ago. The only shot I really struggle on, with your technique, is driver. Iron & hybrid play is vastly improved. Could you perhaps show a video with a senior player? My knees are one titanium, and the other pretty gamey, so I can't use the wide stance like this young man. How do you adapt for older players with physical limitations? There's a lot of us out there who still love the game.

      So I took this video lesson to the course today with anticipation of a slight improvement due to me learning a new swing with the direction you provided to the student in the video. First hole, 352 yard par 4 with a domed fairway; miss it and you are in big trouble on either side. Tee shot with a 3 wood down the middle. Second shot, 150 yards out; flight at the flag the whole way and stopped one foot short of the flag. What a thrill! Easy birdie, which I never achieved before on this hole. Boggied the next hole. Horn sounded on the third whole so I am anxious to see what I can do this Thursday.

    That was great Tom, the way you relate feel and different parts of the body working during swing is really easy to follow. Is it just me or does some aspects of this swing similar to Moe Norman swing, keeping the right foot planted in till the very end of the swing and finishing with straight arms. As always great stuff.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm glad you enjoyed it, Sam!
      While the swing I teach shares a one plane feature and some other elements, it is definitely different from the "single plane" version patterned after Mr. Norman's swing. For example, the straight-line relationship of the arms and club shaft from the DTL view is a trademark of Mr. Norman's setup that one will not typically find in S&T instruction. However, there are also some definite shared features - particularly with regard to the very centered, connected, weight-forward nature of both methods.
      What I teach is a complete golf swing system based on data from the best golf ball strikers - and Moe Norman would certainly be included among them. The S&T folks determined from this study of these ball striking legends that they all had 3 things in common (the 3 main golf fundamentals): 1. Hit the ground in the same spot every time (consistent crispy contact) 2. Have enough length to play the golf course well (power) 3. Be able to have a predictable curve (accuracy). A player MUST be able to do those 3 things to be good at golf, and Mr. Norman certainly did!
      Thanks!

      It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. Absolutely love the principles, I always have done. The only problem I have and the thing that starts me tweaking is that I seem to get a natural left strike. Feels devastating on course. I trust in the weight forward as it makes sense re consistent strike, but must be doing something wrong to be constantly going left.

    • @SagutoGolf

      It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause, Simon. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. So in the case of a pull, the face is closed to the target line at impact. There are various possible causes for this, including the face being too shut at address, a grip that is too strong, a ball position that is too far forward, a downswing path that is approaching the ball from the outside, flipping/rolling the hands through the zone and more. By the way, always begin with the setup - in this case the first three possibilities - prior to diving into a swing intervention. For example, a golfer may have previously deployed a closed clubface at address and/or a strong grip to compensate for a slice due to a steep downswing path. If the path has been corrected, then that same grip can certainly result in pulled shots.
      FYI, I do offer a swing video analysis service which enables me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable. Here is a link where you can learn more about this option: saguto.golf/lessons

I’ve developed muscle pain in my upper back, specifically in the area of my left shoulder blade (I am a right handed player). Hi Reuben,
      Welcome to this greatest of games!
      With regard to your back discomfort, what I teach is a proven body-friendly method, so something is likely amiss in your execution. I can vouch for this through my own personal experience as a golfer who previously experienced back pain, and It is further validated by the fact that a significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      As a beginner, perhaps you might wish to consider the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Additionally, you'll have access to all my short game content (putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play), advanced level material, diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. I'm very glad to know that you are doing well with this fabulous swing system, Thomas!
      When watching videos we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. (By the way, I strongly suggest using alignment sticks when monitoring ball position - one on the foot line, a second one parallel to the first to mark the target line, and a third perpendicular to these to show ball position - as our side-on view from above tends to skew our perspective of the actual location of the ball relative to our stance.)
      As for hand position, it remains consistent - even with the inside of your lead thigh - no matter which club you are hitting. Additionally, the lead arm and club shaft should form a straight line from the face-on view, giving your setup a lowercase "y" look.
      Hope that helps!
      Tom

    @sagutogolf on the backswing where should you feel the pressure in your right foot? on the inside edge of the feet?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Chris,
      At address you should be balanced between heel and toe in both feet. This balance is achieved by first setting your knees over the toes (or at least over the toe end of your shoelaces) to activate the ground connection, and then pushing your butt out to incline the hips and chest so that a relationship with the ball is established. Additionally, the outward flaring of both feet 10-20 degrees in our setup facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. During the swing it is perfectly fine to experience pressure shifts in either foot as they respond to the dynamic motion, but not to the point where we are falling back onto our heel or leaning too far forward over our toes.
      In terms of what we "should" feel with regard to pressure, that is up to the individual golfer. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thereby our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point.

      I would have to disagree on that. Only reason why I say that is that although it may seem complicated, the motion as a whole when working on it becomes a much simpler process. I've worked with several coaches in the past who are teaching a complicated concept that makes you freeze up over a swing just because of information overload. These motions have led to a smoother motion for me and I can attest to far better golf. This is coming from someone who's missed cuts for 3 years straight and now is getting ready to play in a State Open next month. Absolutely great stuff from this man and in my opinion an amazing golf coach.

    Hey Tom, any video or advice on snap hooking and duckhooking the driver?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      There are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to make an accurate diagnosis regarding your driver hook tendencies. For example, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a hook if you have successfully corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position is too far forward, your hands are too far back, your weight is not forward enough at impact, more..... See what I mean? Too many possibilities.
      While there are certainly videos on my channel that address the various causes, a better option for you would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    I have to admit your student has the widest stance to hit a wedge or even a driver.😮

      LOL! I appreciate your interest! You can find lesson information here: saguto.golf/lessons
      Also, please sign up for my email list at go.saguto.golf/ as that is how I will be communicating updates on lesson options and availability as I move toward resuming one-on-one instruction. (I had taken a hiatus from in-person lessons in order to reappropriate my time to online school upgrades and enhancements.)
      By the way, if you've not already joined and would really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews.
      Thanks!

      Derek is an accomplished golfer with realistic profession playing aspirations, Gary, and he is a fine young man beyond that. He just qualified for his state open and has several more tournaments ahead of him this summer.
