Yes, Britney! Please make a whole video on cathedral hands. I adore cathedral hands on my watches! Cathedral hands and firing fingers ;) Hamilton straps are really the house's weak point. I hated my Khaki Field until I put it on a Nato strap. Thank you for sharing.
@ottokonrad6260 it is very annoying. My Brown PVD Khaki Mechanical came with a "leather" Nato that looked like a Swatch bracelet, more plastic than leather. The Khaki Automatic I bought many years ago came with a very poorly made bracelet, I could not use it. A good strap/bracelet makes a good watch. I love the Murph, but knowing I have to buy add to the cost a third party bracelet stops me from buying it. Details count
three things: 1. I really want this watch. 2. I would love a Gringa mini-doc/ video essay about Cathedral hands. Don't hold back, go for it please! and 3. 5:27 , 11:01-- Bless you.
I love my Murph! Coming from using a Garmin Fenix 6X (Huge 51mm), I initially was a little taken aback by the 38mm Hamilton. I thought it was way too small. Thank God I asked my brilliant and wise wife what her thoughts were and she said it looked great on my 6.5 inch wrist. I'm glad I listened to her. Everytime I look at it, I smile. It's my first "serious" watch purchase. Some bash Hamilton and claim their watches to be "overrated!" To each his own. I bought the watch because I thought it was beautiful and a great start for me. Thanks Britney! Love your videos!
Had to pause… we need a cathedral hands video, you Brittany, are the hero we need! Also, the black dial version will be my first Swiss watch. This bad boy is going to hold things down while I search for my first high end luxury watch.
I’ve gotten to the point where I click on your videos as soon as the notification pops up without even caring what it’s about. Always entertaining don’t ever change! But as it happens I love the murph hard! Great alternative to an Explorer I for way less the cost
I also 100% agree with you on the strap. When I got mine, after the honeymoon period was over, I found it sadly sitting and realized it was the strap that I didn’t want to grab every morning. Once I found the right one it became the GADA it was meant to be
This is almost certainly my next watch and may well be the last. I want a white dial watch with numerals to round out the small collection. This fits the bill! Your vids are always a perfect mix or entertaining and informative.
Totally agree with you on the watch straps being important, especially if it's a metal bracelet. Omega really let themselves down with their sharp, uncomfortable bracelets and its one of the reasons Rolex feels a tier above them on the wrist. I use the analogy of watches being like Sandwiches (bear with me!). People focus so much on the filling in a sandwich (the watch) and forget about the bread (the bracelet). The bread is like 80% of the sandwich and is just as inporant as the filling. A sandwich can be ruined by bad cheap bread. The same with a bracelet - it can ruin the wearing experience of a great watch as it's 80% of how it feels on the wrist.
Got this watch yesterday from my three sons for a birthday present. Absolutely fantastic watch. Also I have the metal bracelet which takes it to another level
Thanks for the review. I have the black dial and I'm besotted with it. Before I committed I'd read that it had flaws - lack of AR and lume - but pulled the trigger anyway and I'm so glad that I did. Neither AR nor lume is a problem. The watch is gorgeous and unique (it was created by popular demand after all) and I did not expect to get my grail watch at such a low price point and I've had no problem telling the time at any moment, night or day. It is also a strap monster and a true GADA watch when viewed in the strap context, in that you can take it on a beach holiday if you swap the strap out for a nylon nato and have a nice leather for evenings. It is also extremely accurate. The true measure of this watch is that I have many gorgeous watches in my collection and I simply cannot wait to get this one back on my wrist when wearing any of the others.
I sat down, watched the movie for the first time, and bought the watch for my 35th birthday in October. LOVE IT! Cathedral hands 🔥, and it's one time I don't miss having a date.
Cathedral hands rock! We would love a video on them! I'm a big Hamilton fan! The 42mm is next on my buy list . 8 in wrister here ! Great video. ! Congratulations on your baby !❤❤🎉🎉
Love the review and approach. I got this very same watch as an anniversary gift and it has unequivocally been on my wrist nonstop. I think you articulate its versatility very well. My only one super duper wish would be more AR coating for the price given lack of contrast . That’s strictly a personal opinion. Great work again!
I see the murph as a field watch. It reminds me of my equally gorgeous Maopin and Webb Campaign small seconds, with over 100 years of history. The Campaign is now 40mm, (smaller in the past) but looks smaller. One of my favourite watches. Your Murph looks great on you, Britt, especially the way you are wearing your shirt. 😂
I bought the Coop, as worn by Matthew McConaughey, right after seeing the movie ten years ago. Never really wanted the Murph, until I finally saw one in person a year ago. Then, I had to have it. You're right, it's a great stand alone watch
Hi Britney, I rarely comment on YT, but I have to say that I would be delighted by an episode dedicated to cathedral hands ! And thank you for this review, this murph really is a great offering for the pricepoint. For the caliber, the H-10 is based off the caliber C07.611 which is a variant of the powermatic 80 with a regular escapement (C07.111 has the "synthetic" escapement and the C07.811 has a silicon hairspring), the powermatic 80 itself being based off the renowned ETA 2824-2.
I have the OG 42mm Murph in my collection, and will agree with your use/wear case description 100 percent. I would say it's a tool watch in the same vein as a Rolex Explorer or Tudor Ranger, in that the Murph is a little too nice for going out to do yard work but the design language definitely says field watch. My Murph doesn't get much wear time in the summer as I feel the black leather strap is better suited for the clothes I wear during cooler weather. I am glad I have it though, and hope to get a Cooper to go along with it as Interstellar is one of my favorite movies.
I have never seen Interstellar (I know I should). I am just bringing it up because I really like the Murph in spite of the movie tie in. It is a solid dressy field watch. Not in the same league as the Explorer, but it is the niche.
so many thoughts: 1. my strap complaint: 100m water resistance on a leather strap. Leather does not have 100m water resistance. I wish more watches would synchronize this. 2. I don't really like the regular Hamilton Khaki. I'm not a huge Interstellar fan. But I LOVE the Murph. 3. Ever since the story about the friend who stopped golfing with his Patek Philippe, I've decided that maybe I should just stick with quartz. I'm too reckless, clumsy, and awkward for mechanical movements. BUT..... this would probably be one of 2 or 3 automatic movements that I would buy.
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the MAMACOO's watches are the most intriguing.
The Murph has a childlike quality. And right on point, the Interstellar prop watch was gifted in the film by Matthew McConaughey to his 8 year oldish daughter (as her first watch but also for more fundamental purposes revealed later in the film) before he heads off on his space mission. The design for the movie was spot on for the story telling and the characters. I think the real life version introduced in 2019 was originally intended as a replica for the same movie nerds who have Iron Giant models on their mantels (ahum), but the subtle quirkiness of the watch must speak to a lot more people than Interstellar movie nerds.
Britt, don’t feel too bad. I work for a company that pays pensions. I once proposed a whole theory about whether or not somewhere out in the universe was an alien civilization, with their own work based pensions, and whether they were sitting around BS’ing they way we were on earth. A had several co workers who looked at me like I had two heads and totally shut down…..I would love to hear your story one day
Yes please on the cathedral hand video! Lots of channels mention that they’re controversial but as someone not steeped in watch history I don’t know what the deal is. I think it’s Rolex adjacent? Also yes I usually buy lots of straps before just putting the original back on and never using the others haha.
The Seiko 5 SRPD 55 is the best automatic watch for me as a daily wear to the office. Or any Solar Powered Quartz watch, like Citizen, Seiko or Casio. Something you don’t have to fear for, and when you see the bumps and schratches they get over time, that make them all the more special. Your content is great as always, and so is your voice.
Im a big srpd fan as well.. Amazing watch for the money.. makes it on my wrist a few times a wk.. Any watch with Bulova’s precisionist movement as well. ( Im a huge fan of the “Jet Star” )
I considered a Murph and was almost ready to pull the trigger on it until I found the lesser known Hanhart Preventor HD12 . After a bit of research I went with the Hanhart in the blue dial which is 29mm . It’s a stunner. Absolutely no regrets
I got the Interstellar version and bought it for 1/2 the retail price. Practically brand new because the previous owner regrets his impulse buying. His regret. Not mine. Love it every single day for many years now
Same sentiments about Christopher Nolan's... "Interstellar." I received my Murph as 2019 Christmas Gift from Wife and Daughter; 42mm when Hamilton released, unfortunate for Me... All 2,555 Interstellar Limited Edition Acrylic Boxes SoldOut Out... Will acquire 38mm for Wife March 2025 for her Birthday... Daughter Already has AAPL watch... Merry Christmas... Bless you…. Perfect Watch i have the 38 black dial one of the best Watch for the price. Black strap no glossy looks better…. Have good day Merry Christmas from Mexico
I would own so many Hamilton watches if only they had better AR coating.. Unfortunately the Murph suffers from the same issue a lot of Hamiltons do: seeing your own face before you can see the time. There are exceptions such as the Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer and the Intra-Matic Auto Chrono but for me, this is something Hamilton really needs to improve upon.
Don’t have one, but have always been drawn to the Murph. I do believe the strap is a little too dressy for a field watch. The hands are the best characteristic! Do the cathedral hand video! Geusundheit!
The Murph is really nice, but to me it can never be the only watch I need, because I require a date window. You should do a cathedral hands special, I'd watch that video.
@@samdaniels1234 when working I find it easier and a hell of a lot faster to check my wristwatch for the date, than my phone. That's because my phone isn't glued to my hand and of course having worn a wristwatch every day for 40+ years I actually use my watch - it's not just for show.
A really good video. I like the Murph, but as in one of your later videos, I require a date window, I can never remember the date ! I agree about the quality of straps and bracelets when purchasing a new watch. I am a Seikopath, and have put a new strap on ALL my Seikos, they are rubbish...
After watching Interstellar again in IMAX I was curious about the watch they chose and had no idea it was designed for the movie. Very cool they turned this into real merch
Yeah I wasn't hugely impressed with the stock strap, but I swap straps all the time anyway. I agree that watches should come with something decent, but personally I knew I wanted it on a nice black shell cordovan strap anyway and I doubt Hamilton would include that. Overall I love the watch and I completely agree on its versatility.
Put me down for the cathedral hands video. One thing about this watch that I am less then thrilled about is the sharpness of the lug corners. They cut into my 7 inch wrist. I have the 42 mm though. Maybe this issue goes away with the smaller version?
@@BrittPearceWatchesI think they’re acceptable in something a bit more classic. Something ideally made out of gold and on a leather strap. I just can’t handle seeing it on something thats modern. maybe I’m just weird.
Completely agree about the factory strap or bracelet. Is someone going to buy a car if the wheel arches need to be cut higher to accommodate larger tires? I would not. I swap bracelets and straps but still require a good factory strap or bracelet.
Strap. Agreed, if someone buys a watch and changes the strap straight away, they either didn't like the watch in the first place or have seen too many promotional videos for 'my own brand nato strap'. The strap is part of the watch design, you wouldn't buy a car and start changing the body panels to make it look 'better'. 😂
7:39 There's a discussion about the sinthetic escapement made by silicium (Tissot) that could have no replacement over decades, what is good for H10 Hamilton movement in terms of durability. I care about geek stuff ❤
I agree on the strap comment. I recently bough a cartier tank, and the leather strap is absolutely cheap and terrible. I dont know why companies cheap out when you are paying 3.5k for a watch.
Maybe do a vid on watch hands in general? I _love _cathedral hands. I used to collect early wristwatches and still have and wear a few(mostly from WW1) and they usually came with those hands. I suspect because they were the best design of the time to hold the new fangled radium lume. A tweak of the existing spade style with gaps for lume. I've no idea where they got the name, but I always thought it was because they kinda looked like stained glass windows you'd see in cathedrals. The Murph is a great watch imho and the white dial version is reminiscent of those WW1 "trench watches" with their enamel dials and open numerals filled with radium. Funny enough though I love cathedral hands, the quite similar Mercedes hands make my teeth itch. Can't abide them. No accounting for taste I suppose. 😄
I got the “black dial” Murph DAYS before this was released. Been wanting it for a long time, turned 30 and used that as an excuse to get it, cuz it’s my 30th (not that we need an excuse..) I love my Murph, don’t get me wrong, it is awesome and an amazing everyday watch.. buuuut.. The white is just better. Damn it’s good. Also, yes, do a video on Cathedral hands. Do it. Absolutely do it. In fact, do it right now. No, not later. Now. Not next week. Now. Do it. Do iiiitttttt. Pretty please!
Hamilton are definitely one of the better value for money brands out there (together under the same roof as Tissot, and maybe Alpina and a few others outside the Swatch group that do not have the Hamilton history to boast)!! I do have a few comments however (nitpicky, yes): 1. The Khaki has a very clear category it belongs to and you do not have to invent one for him - it is the military/ Pilot's watch. Besides of course building on Hamilton's own glory of supplying somewhat similar watches to the military, navy and Airforce until (I think) the Vietnam war, the lone of watches harkens back to a very particular and historically fascinating line of timepieces produced by various suppliers to military forces' specifications. IWC, JLC, Omega, Laco and a few others (heard of the "dirty dozen"?) were among these ranks. The Murph design took some of these classic elements with the cathedral hands that adorned early pilot's watches pre- WW2 and of course - got a lot of love for that. 2. You have not mentioned any downside of this watch, which does indeed make your cool review feel a little bit sponsored even if it is not - so let me offer you what I hear might be a downside: The movement is actually a version used in most SWATCH group's entry level models - Tissot, Hamilton and some Mido as well - it is basically an ETA 2824-2 with a larger mainspring, and a slowed down balance - to allow the impressive power reserve. I have heard that these aspects make the movement harder to service and make us the buyers, in the long run dependent solely on authorized service centres since independent watchmakers will have hard time finding tools and parts specific for this version, unlike its older sister the 2824 and 2824-2. Is that a real problem? I guess we will have to wait a few years for these movement to get older and need service - to find out.
I bought the 42 and the Coop at the same time, with the eventual plan to pass down the Murph to my daughter. Only thing I find is the bezel seems to collect marks.
I love the watch as a whole and I'm looking for a true white face watch, not a silver dial, but that faux patina lume on the white dial looks absolutely terrible.
I just ordered a replacement black alligator strap for the watch. The strap that comes with the watch is very hard to buckle.
We need a cathedral hands episode. Willow was new for me, now I will never forget the like button 😊
I’m here for the Murph! Love mine!
Let’s about cathedral hands! I think they’re a wonderful intersection of design and practicality!
Don't apologize, Britt. Cathedral hands are the apex of form and function. They look good, provide excellent readability and allow for maximum lume.
Had to pause… we need a cathedral hands video, you Brittany, are the hero we need! Also, the black dial version will be my first Swiss watch. This bad boy is going to hold things down while I search for my first high end luxury watch.

Got this watch yesterday from my three sons for a birthday present. Absolutely fantastic watch. Also I have the metal bracelet which takes it to another level
Hi, say more about the bracelet change on the white dial! Is it as good as the black? Planning to get one and a bracelet as well!
I own the black dial version. Absolutely love it.
Yes, Britt… You wanna do it and we wanna watch it :) 4:40
Really well done review. The movie was a perfect piece of cinematic art. Hamilton was the right choice for this masterpiece.
What a great review! I picked up a Murph this year, after thinking about it for a few years. Best decision.
I sat down, watched the movie for the first time, and bought the watch for my 35th birthday in October.
LOVE IT! Cathedral hands 🔥, and it's one time I don't miss having a date.
The little one was definitely the star of this video 😊
Cathedral hands rock! We would love a video on them! I'm a big Hamilton fan! The 42mm is next on my buy list . 8 in wrister here ! Great video. ! Congratulations on your baby !❤❤🎉🎉
Completely agree on the watch strap comments!
@5:15 One tip, when breaking in the strap, if you have a watch roll, strap it on a bit tighter than normal when you're not wearing it.
Love the review and approach. I got this very same watch as an anniversary gift and it has unequivocally been on my wrist nonstop. I think you articulate its versatility very well. My only one super duper wish would be more AR coating for the price given lack of contrast . That’s strictly a personal opinion. Great work again!

Loving the content. I think it's now time to talk in depth about Longines and IWC.

His regret. Not mine. Love it every single day for many years now
Needs more AR, like any Hamilton. Otherwise I’d own a 38 black. Lovely lovely watch.
The black dial 38mm on the bracelet is my next planned watch purchase. Partly because it's a great-looking watch, partly because of that

After watching Interstellar again in IMAX I was curious about the watch they chose and had no idea it was designed for the movie. Very cool they turned this into real merch
um no actually we DO want a full length video on cathedral hands thank you
Would you please get ahold of the Hanhart Preventor HD12 and do a review. I’ll loan you one to review.
I gotta agree...we need a stern cathedral hands training.
Put me down for the cathedral hands video. One thing about this watch that I am less then thrilled about is the sharpness of the lug corners. They cut into my 7 inch wrist. I have the 42 mm though. Maybe this issue goes away with the smaller version?
Nice video. Love everything except for the hour hand. Just can’t get on board with it.
Ahhh nooo! I love cathedral hands!
@@BrittPearceWatchesI think they’re acceptable in something a bit more classic. Something ideally made out of gold and on a leather strap. I just can’t handle seeing it on something thats modern. maybe I’m just weird.
Yes please a full video on cathedral hands
It's nothing about needing a watch in our game. 😂
😆
Completely agree about the factory strap or bracelet.
Is someone going to buy a car if the wheel arches need to be cut higher to accommodate larger tires?
I would not.
I swap bracelets and straps but still require a good factory strap or bracelet.
please review the hamilton pilot pioneer 36mm
Cathedral hands episode please!
I would like to see a video about cathedral hands.
I agree on the strap comment. I recently bough a cartier tank, and the leather strap is absolutely cheap and terrible. I dont know why companies cheap out when you are paying 3.5k for a watch.
Britney is absolutely goofy that’s why I like her watc presentations.
Got a first like and comment on your channel
OH HO HO YES! Early crew! Thank you so much!
If you leave the watch on a watch roll nice and tight it will break the strap in very quickly. Pro tip!
I have the hamilton khaki field automatic and find H10 to be insanely accurate.
+/- 7 sec per week 😮
I got the “black dial” Murph DAYS before this was released. Been wanting it for a long time, turned 30 and used that as an excuse to get it, cuz it’s my 30th (not that we need an excuse..)
I love my Murph, don’t get me wrong, it is awesome and an amazing everyday watch..
I do have a few comments however (nitpicky, yes):
Um, just fyi, in terms of categories the Murph is a Field watch. Yes, we would all love a video about cathedral hands please and thank you.
I bought the 42 and the Coop at the same time, with the eventual plan to pass down the Murph to my daughter. Only thing I find is the bezel seems to collect marks.
5:35 yes Seiko we ARE talking about YOU 5:39
If you do the Cathedral hands video we'll let you do the finger dance!
I have the 42mm on a strap. I nearly sold it to get this but I need, yes need, the eureka in Morse code on the hand.
Same problem here. Wish they had kept that detail on the smaller version.
That's such a gimmicke feature that you can barely see. The prop didn't even have it
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 try using a loupe
I love the watch as a whole and I'm looking for a true white face watch, not a silver dial, but that faux patina lume on the white dial looks absolutely terrible.
Full length video on cathedral hands please 🙏
