I was going to say, this isn't the only way to start this quest actually.
You can just head to 'The Den' in the Wolf system and dock there to sell all your contraband without any need for shielded parts or the skill. If the vendor is out of credits just wait 48 ingame hours and the shop will reset.
Yup. I can confirm this. It's the easiest way to sell contraband.
Why does contraband say it sells for 12k but when you got to sell ut you only get 1,200 ?
@@terryfredrick5149you need to invest in the commerce skill to increase the selling value you get from vendors.
@@terryfredrick5149because your commerce skill isn’t high enough. The value of items and what you can actually sell them for are greatly different. The former will always be magnitudes of credits higher than the latter, simple as that- vendors want to make the most profit that they can
@@terryfredrick5149Biden Economics man, affecting us all even in video games 😂
Shielded cargo bays also exist in the red mile. You don't have to do the crimson quest
That's how I got mine.
The higher the percentage of shielded cargo space used by your contraband the higher risk of detection. The payload skill increases your cargo space of each container, including shielded. If you’re carrying 10 mass worth of contraband you’re more likely to pass the scan if you have 150 mass of shielded cargo space instead of 100. More space = better odds.
They said payload doesn't affect shielded cargo. Has it been tested to work otherwise? Also yeah I had 150 mass of shielded cargo with a single piece of stolen artwork and it was a 52% chance to pass and I failed. Lol 😆 decided shielded cargo not worth it until I get much further in the game. Until then I will go to wolf instead.
@jacobmiller701 there is items later you can unlock to and add to your ship to boost percentage up to near 30% boost to passing scans
@sicecko yeah also loading screen I got yesterday said payload does in fact make you more likely to pass the check.
The trade authority also buys stolen gear. I stole everuthing from uc supply in the well. Took multiple quicksaves and about an hour but got everything in the shop. Walked over to the trade authority n sold everything i didnt want. I have had a modified minigun since and it absolutely wrecks.
if you have joined the crimson fleet the key at suruvov in the kryx system is the best place to sell contraband
any vendor will buy it but most don't have much money except the trade authority & zuri
An early game ship tip. Focus on one weapon type until you get more reactor points. I got 4 slow firing particle beam blasters. (The ones with equal shield a hull dmg) and I can fire 3500m non stop and kill before I can lock on. Very efficient.
Morbid fun fact: dead bodies in your starship apparently count as cargo containers and as long as they have something in their inventory they won't disappear, even if you change ship 🤣
i wonder if they get scanned during cargo sweeps?
@@peterweaver7596 not sure! But as they become part of the cargo, I think yes.
@@fabiuz1991 if the scan can pick up contraband you're holding I guess it would pick up them too
Interesting information. Thanks!
you can also sell it in the den spacestation in the wolf system, and u don't shield cargo... and also pick up shield cargo in the red mile
How do you use the shielded cargo area on the Mantis' ship? I'm actually not sure how to use a cargo bay in general based on the two starter ships. I found the weapon storage on Mantis' ship but assume that isn't a cargo hold.
The best place to get court with stolen goods is neon because the chests in the police station are easy to pick (and once u do remain unlocked) and you can hide without being detected and There’s a trade authority in neon as well when the vendor runs out of money just sit and wait 48hr
I've always foound contraband when boarding criminal ships ( pirates, spacers and va'ruun zealots )
Isnt it a issue with the vendor cash limits to be a "proficient" smuggler?
You just wait around using a chair or bed for 24-48 hours to refresh any vendors money
Can you go back to a planet that has contraband on it? I've seen a few in my play through but too scared to get caught while I'm doing missions.
yes u can, u can even drop it on the floor outside of the ship and then go back and pick it up
One the crazy thing in the game is I didn’t need to steal or transport contraband and become a criminal. The UC Navy actually gave me contraband and said get with the program or rot in jail as a criminal on trumped up charges 😂. I guess I’m now Deep Undercover. I decided to just roll with it.
How did you get this to happen
@@VanGoHAFget arrested, UC will offer you to go deep cover with the pirates
Bro I didn’t even have contraband when they rolled me up and threw me in the vigilance jail cell lmao
Audio issues on this vid? Doesn’t sound as
crisp as usual or is it just me?
I was stuck in a hotel room ;) Good ears!
you can also join the pirates without crime you can get a quest to go to the vigilance doing quests for the UC Vanguard
Thanks for this
Why is my contraband only selling for like a grand and not near its value?
the videos says that trade authority people will buy for the highest price. i think the Den tradesman lowballs you since its the Den. I think if you can successfully smuggle into big cities, the shady trade authority people will pay top dollar
Why is it when I go to sell contraband at this same place, they offer nowhere near the actual value like yours does. Am I missing something?
The video shows the buy page, not the sell prices.
There is a skill to increase your sell price and decrease your buying price.
Max out the commerce skill asap
Quicker to go to red mile. Ignore the level requirement as there’s no enemies to get it.
That's also where you can get an item to boost scan percentage for contraband
You have to have all shielded cargo you can not have some shielded and some normal cargo
That's not true at all
@LegacyGamingUS then how do you access the shielded cargo? I did get it to work whit both
Shielded cargo is just a portion of your cargo space. So if you have 160 shielded cargo, 160 weight worth of cargo can be shielded. However, the more you try and shield percentage wise to your cargo space, the more likely itll be detected.
@@LegacyGamingUS I have 5 lv2 jammers and each time I goto a city, with contraband in ship inventory, I get caught. Either the jammers dont stack or something is up with where I'm storing cargo.
Does this game have ak 47 like old-school rifle? And keep up the good work.
I have a heavily modified one. Not sure about a base version.
@@nn-NeuralNetwork can you take off mods to make it stock?
Yup. It also has the greatest creation of Saint John Moses Browning: The 1911.
there's a dragunov SVD style gun, I got it from The Well, under new atlantis
Smuggling is a Valid Lifestyle Choice.....I gotta Pay Jabba somehow.... 😉
Starfield saved XBOX
My name is mud
We needed it sooooo bad!
Call me an idiot but I was seriously thinking in buying an Xbox a couple month back and now with starfield I may do it even though having a great gaming PC and 15hs in the game.
It was getting dry in the Xbox world. This game is totally saving me from selling it haha
@@farmsalot1233we both know that episode is just wrong for that one. 😂
and here i am. 50hrs in. never found 1 contraband item
I found 9 last night in an hour. Usually 2 or 3 on crimson fleet ships, which are always landing on planets I'm exploring. Passed up 3 ships that landed in the past 30 minutes running around surveying (I don't like contraband I always get busted)
Dayummmmm s0n 😂
Where is the contraband cache you're looting?
some mission areas have them, pirate eliminating missions
Your millage may vary, but I've gotten nowhere near the stated value when selling contraband. Almost not worth the effort.
This. Contraband items show a value of 12k-ish in your inventory but vendors will only pay you about 2.2k. Not worth it for sure.
If you want to smuggle full time then take the commerce skills
The vendors are the real criminal. They buy from you for 10% the value and charge you 10 tine more to buy it.
No, No it doesn't help. I have Nothing but Shielded cargo holds. Two Large ones, and Three Small ones on the Razorleaf no less. Now named the Razor Back since I've modified it so much. As well as two 50% Jammers and rank 1 of the deception skill and no matter what system I enter my chance to avoid detection says 0%. WTF is that.
Something is wrong bro, is the contraband in your inventory or in the ships inventory?
@@DYLDO85 I thought that myself. And after checking through everything it wasn't in fact me. It was Vasco, he had Aurora on him.... 🤔 Anyway since he was on the ship 0% chance to evade scan.
@@stevenwest3191 haha sneaky Vasco, glad U got it sorted!
Eh, just use the console an give yourself a few mill lol
This video is just "play the game" and advertisements . There's nothing new really in it there are no exploits. It should be titled "guide to piracy" to be more honest.
Then people would think it was a guide showing how to pirate the game.
Lmao
This game's performance is HORRENDOUS. If you don't have a beast of a PC, the performance will be bad! Bethesda really needs to optimize their games. It's 2023 and this developer is still doing this nonsense since Skyrim came out 🤦🏿♂️
Not true. I have a $1100 budget PC with a 3070 and a ryzen 7 5800x and have had zero issues.
@@averagecryptopunk2800That's a straight up lie!
I have a 2070 super and ryzen 5 and I've not had any lag in my 14 hours so far. You sure you don't have viruses or something? Ofc I'm running the game on an nvme but it can't be that big of a difference.
@@SPAlNKYno it’s not I have a 3060 and a 7 5800 and it works extremely well on the highest settings
@@SPAlNKY3080 with a Ryzen 7 5800x game runs fine, people need to stop thinking their 1060ti can still run games on their 7 year old hardware, it’s always been like this games will get more demanding it’s not even about “optimization” anymore since Starfield still runs decent on older hardware. Just don’t expect to play the game on High settings with old hardware and you’re fine
