If there ever was a more ironically named show, it's Pointless. So difficult to win, and if you are fortunate to win, you might just win your train fair back.
It's probably safe to say Armstrong wouldn't describe his fee as pointless. Shame it isn't enough for him to afford a few ties. Nowadays, the news anchors are about the only people on TV who dress smartly.

Opposite the park was a row of houses with all of the occupants standing outside wondering what was going on, 3 of the 6 families stood there were black...the reporter and crew very quickly packed up their gear and legged it when I walked over and woke the drunk guy up...he was less than amused at the situation and started attacking the crew with a beer bottle... I'm 88 years old, have never watched Eastenders since the first episode as I disliked it right away. However, Corrie and Emmerdale I've watched from the start and continue to enjoy both. They contain drama and humour which is good stuff. As for the BBC, I've not watched anything since the final of Strictly, last December. So they can sling their hook. I pay my licence grudgingly. The soaps I watch do raise issues that are important so I would be sad if they where taken off ITV.
I do not have TV or receive BBC broadcasts in any other way. Even when an occasional BBC programme appears on You-Tube I refuse to watch it. I click the not interested menu. I really don't want to be brainwashed. To be told how to think. Especially by them and their ideologues and or masters. Perhaps I'm lucky but I have other things to do. BBC really has grown into something terrible. Incidentally when I lived in USA, I was told place I resided in could receive over 300 channels. Some dedicated this or that too. Some free to air, some by subscription. I lived quite happily, as did many others, without TV. Shrug.
There is absolutely no justification for the bbc as it stands. Channel 4 is exactly the same as bbc (public broadcaster) and they don’t receive a single penny of the licence fee. I can’t believe they are cutting the eastenders budget after spending I think it’s in the realm of £130 million on the eastenders studio. Just for one show not including production costs. BBC is an absolute disgrace and needs investigating financially because they have a lot of fingers in pies funded by the licence fee but separate entities like BritBox and bbc America both subscription services then they have Dave, gold, yesterday and uk tv which all receive advertising revenue and then you have the production companies like bbc studios which don’t have to produce tables of extortionate salaries even though it’s licence fee funded, and now as well you have bad woof production part owned I think by Sony who are also now receiving money from licence fee for doctor who and other russell t davis shows

Quit watching BBC/Broadcast TV 5 years ago and cancelled my license 3 years ago. Not missed it at all! The quality dropped massively with the advent of Freeview. I think Fry & Laurie did a sketch about it 25 years ago where the minister for TV or whatever states increased choice is better and then he asks for a spoon to stir his coffee they dump 500 plastic coffee stirrers on his table. "is more choice really better Minister?"
If you do not want the BBC product, then you should not need to pay for it. If others actually do want it, let them pay. Compulsory payment is little more than theft.

I've tried pointing out how ruddy depressing it all is but she always says she loves her tv, especially the soaps, geez, don't get me started on them, I feel like cutting my throat lol after listening to all that tripe. Just something I've gotta put up with while I'm there I guess.
I only watch GB. News and Talk TV now ,
They not only show depressing propaganda but they actually only report on 0.5% of what’s happening. My mum gets her news exclusively from TV and she’s SO uninformed (misinformed).
The more desperate they get, the more they lash out.
"When you start getting flack, you know you're over the target".
I never thought two phrases, "big guns" and "Louis Theroux", would ever be paired. I have never considered that individual anything more than something I occasionally find sticking to the sole of my shoe.
Agreed. He peddles gloom and despair.
It was the national broadcaster. Now they are angry that they cant control what we watch. At the minute anyway.
Thank you for the walkabout, I really enjoyed it. Felt like we were having a chat before going for a beer!
True, especially as I grew up not far from there and used to Kayak from the Prom and up the Chelmer and Blackwater. Fond memories
3 years with threatening letters, but again they said there would be an inspector last Thursday and there wasn't!
Same here!
I got a letter, offering me a ten day window to pay my tax, they promised, I would not receive a visit from one of their agents during this time. I was gutted, look forward to visitors, even baked a cake, in anticipation.
I've worked from home for the last decade, maybe longer, haven't paid the license in about 8 years now, loads of letters, not a single visit. I don't mind them coming round, there is no aerial in my apartment, and I've gone out of my way to block bbc addresses on my windows hosts file so I cant access them accidentally, i know thats a bit techy but I am a software engineer.
Me too. Same empty threats. I have a bundle of these letters but really tempted to give them back to the inspector and tell them to clear off!
Same here
Only a fool pays the tv licence. And you know what they say about a fool and his money.
Nice to see you again Jon, always look forward to seeing your posts.
Cant even imagine anyone still watching the likes of depressing enders and that joke woke coronation st.
You Aving a laff. Corrie's not woke, eastenders is. But that's your opinion. x Have a 😊 day
Arseenders and Constipation Street.?
Even the weather in Eastenders is depressing lol
@@bexsta7766no coronation street is too now

I have to say it's good to see so many people out and about in the local Park. That's where you want to be spending your money, on old fashioned outside entertainment, not on some brain rot produced by the corporate agenda.
'The BBC trying to please all the people' they never please me.
*Remember: if the situation was truly hopeless, their censorship wouldn't be necessary.*
Also having the ministry of truth.
true and the reason we canceled
What does he mean a Brexit from the license fee? A public vote on it ? We had that with Brexit but were still waiting to take back control. Weve tried voting in the past but they still do there own thing regardless of what the electrate voted for.
I got a visit yesterday, opened the door, he said tv licence, I said nothing, just closed the door in his face! It felt good! 😎
top work
Correct answer. Say nothing because it will be used against you, and shut the door
@@SpareSomeChange8080 If I'm not expecting visitors, I don't answer the door at all.
And in Medievel England news was pinned to the church door in each parish. This was considered the fastest and most official way of distributing information. We don't do that anymore either. Take note, BBC. You're the church door of old
Which was funny, because the majority of people back then couldn’t read.
@@enkisdaughter4795 but the culture was to have items read to them, and more importantly to have them interpreted for them. We would call this ‘spin’ now I assume.

Me too.
Definitely rattled. Mainstream media is dying.
I think the TV Licence is probably the best situation.
At least this way, we can choose not to pay.
The alternative could very well be worse, such as through general taxation.
I see what your saying but why can’t the bbc just be a subscription model like Netflix etc, if they’re such a great service they’ll have no problem getting subscribers
@@roccoparks That would be ideal. But we all know that's probably never going to happen.
Agreed paradox. Cancelling the TV licence in one hit will lead to immediate funding from central government. So the gravy train continues and the chosen few live in luxury forevermore at our expense. Far better is the slow, steady decline we see today. As the mainstream slowly disappears up its own back passage the lies and propaganda become more desperate, so even more wake up to how obvious their BS is.
What's not right is that not paying the BBC Licence stops you watching other TV Channels.
@@arthurmackrell8154No it doesn't. What's to stop you watching whatever whenever you like - BBC, ITV, Channel 4/5 etc. as it doesn't require a TV licence to do so? You simply watch. What's the problem?

That's what we're like in Essex. Mind you, I was born and bred in Essex, so I would say that.
@@englishciderlover7347 i love english people. my best mates family was english. that was years ago.
At the very least they should decriminalise non payment of the licence fee.
I don't pay it
Thats the carrot which Boris Johnson used to get more votes - they never intended to do it and don't now.
If they decriminalised it, most people would simply stop paying. Effectively it would become a charity donation.
"When you start getting flack, you know you're over the target".
i have had two visits from goons in two weeks i have called tv licensing people and they said if i dont have a tv license i cant watch ANY tv at all and they will send a detector van round to check if they pick up a signal i will get a visit from them with police present and will be taken to court they are a joke keep up the great work you do and take care
I doubt very much that they said that they will send a detector van round, as detector vans do not exist.
well the girl on the phone said they have a machine that can detect a signal from a tv and they would check on me to see if im watching any channels at all

It's not a public service provider.
It's a government service provider.
That's why they will never get rid of the licence fee.
Don’t watch telly any more -it’s simply woefull!!
Theroux is just defending his job. As an American citizen why doesn't go to America?
My guess is that no network over there will pay him what the BBC pays.

@@robertfarrow5853- Theroux is an investigative journalist, one of the few left in the MSM. He specialises in one-hour documentaries interviewing highly controversial people, like Mexican cartel bosses and Jimmy Savile.

Imagine the BBC fact checking this channel on their Fact Checking programme 🤡😂. Keep up the good work, keep the light of truth shining bright 🙌
I think we must be the only country in the world where you can go to prison for not paying a tv tax.I stopped paying the tv tax around fifteen years ago when my tv packed up and have'nt seen the need to buy another.there's plnty of information and entertainment available on the web
You don't go to prison for not paying the tv tax. It's a fine that's given out by the court. It's when people do not pay the fine given by the court, is when they get sent to prison for non payment of a fine.
In many (most?) countries, the national TV network is paid via a direct government tax. Stop paying that and you’ll also go to prison.
It's like a TV ad: Are you feeling chipper, upbeat, life of the party and you don't want to be like that anymore? We have the solution, watch EastEnders and Coronation st. That'll sort you out. (Disclaimer: watching these shows can cause severe depression).
One of the reasons I divorced my ex wife. F'ing sofa operas on all day 7 days a week. She complained I was working long hours, I said you watch sh!t TV all the time.

They need to be so heavily defended because they are fighting a losing battle. The BBC, who kept mum about Jimmy Saville, the BBC who pay astronomical amounts of money for talentless presenters, the BBC who are the wokest platform of all in the way they deliver their news to how they want the public to hear it - totally unbiased (NOT!!!).
I feel a new video coming on to reiterate these points. Good to see that you’ve looked up from the porn and come back to the real world 😂😂
The BBC also did their best to get Cliff Richards into trouble which was low even for them. I don't recall any apologies forthcoming from anyone, but I doubt they would ever offer a sincere one.

I watch boxsets, the odd documentary and sometimes dramas, the rest I don't care much about ad it's too much fake and contrived content filled with fake celebrities.
Any one who recives pay or pension payments from the BBC can be label under ' vested intrest ' and ignored
Just ignore completely, anything and everything that TV Licencing sends to you. They cannot and will not do anything about it - unless of course you're stupid enough to let them in to your home and speak to them.
The BBC’s talent lab on TikTok will no doubt not result in the best talent, but one that ticks it's boxes.
Thanks for the presentation Jon. Take care 👍👍👍
Over £500 better off thanks to you chilli,3 year's tax free from the useless toerags at the BBC,cheers John.
Once they scrap the soaps, they should axe The Soap awards as well
So if it's 'Like Bexit' as Louis says, does this mean the general public get to vote on scraping the license fee? You know, like a democracy.
I wonder how much the Beeb pay Alexander Armstrong for Pointless.
They offer a jackpot of £1250 for contestants who win. Likely putting the woeful prize money down to being publicly funded, yet I bet they're paying Alexander a wee smidge more than 1300 quid per show.

He,s obvious speaking from the side where he s made a bundle off the bbc.,And its always something for him to fall back on in hard times ,Once his latest tired docu,s flop its called SELF INTEREST.
I remember seeing a BBC reporter and a camera crew in Johannesburg in the run up to the elections in 1994, they were filming an African chap who was passed out drunk under a tree in a park and saying that just minutes before 2 white policemen had come past and beaten him to death for being in a white neighborhood...
The BBC doesn`t report on news, it creates it to further it`s disgusting agenda!
BBC documentary crews have been caught doing similar things on multiple occasions, most famously when trying to fabricate ‘white supremacists’ in football supporter groups during the Euro and World Cup.

SELL THE BBC and give the money to the owners The Licence Fee Payers .
You must have recorded this before today, the playing field was covered in vans setting up for some fair a few minutes ago when I came through!
The BBC has had it’s day in my opinion
It's a relic from the 1950s, and fewer and fewer people (especially those under 30) are watching or listening to their stuff, but it's part of our 'heritage' and an 'indispensable' part of our day-to-day lives, so it 'must' stay, and the funding model 'must not' be changed.
The TV tax generates billions of pounds every year for the BBC and they are never going too give that up all the while they have a royal charter
It doesn't matter who is doing the pr(propaganda) if what there saying is crap then I don't listen to them which has become anybody talking about the bbc or any one from government 😂😂
Hi. Same thing here in Ireland we are on a TV licence strike \ dispute only difference being " you can go to prison for refusing to pay " over 3,500 up in court this year alone, last year 2022 205 in prison, 2021, 234 back in 2014 ,411 sent away ,,,,,,,, paying a TV licence to listen to government propaganda ,I stopped watching TV and any news media and my mind is so clear and i have a health outlook on life both physical and mental
I don't watch any of the BBC channels so why should I have to pay a licence fee? And Netflix is a subscription service so why should we have to pay for it twice?
I also don't watch ITV, C4 or C5 nor any of the + channels.
If the BBC did provide us with good news coverage, showing both sides of every issue, this type of channel wouldn't have been necessary. It's thanks to the likes of your and others channels telling us what's going on, that has kept us informed. Thanks
Keep up the honest work Chilli
BBC is an absolute disgrace and needs investigating financially because they have a lot of fingers in pies funded by the licence fee but separate entities like BritBox and bbc America both subscription services then they have Dave, gold, yesterday and uk tv which all receive advertising revenue and then you have the production companies like bbc studios which don’t have to produce tables of extortionate salaries even though it’s licence fee funded, and now as well you have bad woof production part owned I think by Sony who are also now receiving money from licence fee for doctor who and other russell t davis shows
I heard a statistic from the BBC recently claiming that 90% of households still have a TV license...wonder how true this is?
It’s probably true. Most people still watch an inordinate amount of TV, like five or six hours a day.
Jon, thank you so much for encouraging me to bin my TV licence
I've been licence free for nearly 3 years now
God bless you mate and keep up the great work 🙏
The licence fee doesn't need to exist.
Louis now works through his own company.
That enables him to pay corporation tax, roughly half what he'd have to pay in the PAYE system.
U tube is already regulated, can't say what you want, thats why iv joined rumble and other platforms,iv even seen you stopping yourself from saying what you think, so I would not worry about it Jim Davidson u stream is brilliant and don't mind the couple of pounds a month for good old fashioned comedy 👍
They will do anything to protect the "Licence Fee (Tax)". The Labour Party will introduce a "Media" Tax. Mark my words.
I always take the hotel soaps. We only took one Towel from our Mallorca hoilday in 2001. The towel was nice with THB Hotels branding it has been throw out now sadly.
The BBC only tells us what they want us to hear! They definitely leave important information out. I've not watched it for 2 years and haven't missed it. I don't have Netflix, sky or anything else either. TH-cam ( a few favorites) and alternative media is all I need. There's still SO many things to watch although I like to listen to podcasts and do things at the same time.
