As a long time drummer I can say without a doubt he's one of the main reasons they sound so damn good as a band.

good, hard hitting but dynamic drummers do indeed make a HUGE part of a bands impact. people don't realize this, chops are cool but you gotta SOUND good too

Dude is the goat!!! Tried to buy tickets to the sold out Santa Cruz show. Didn’t have any luck but drove 2 hours to Santa Cruz anyways just to hear the band from outside the venue. Got there about an hour before the doors opened and was bumming it around the venue. Then I saw d fang come out through the back of the venue and had to say what’s up! I told him how I drove 2 hours to see them play and didn’t have any tickets and he guest listed me and my friend. Even let us take pics with him! Such a cool fuckin dude and a chill guy to talk to too. I’ll never forget that moment.
What a legend. Doesn’t surprise me one bit. Daniel is a real one 🙏

My ass is 52 YO. Came up listening to Suicidal Tendencies, moved on to GlassJaw and now these guys. Love the musicianship, the good vibes of the band and fans. Turnstile is legit
See I appreciate this style of drumming because it's pretty simple but it serves the song so well and goes insanely hard when it has too. Big props to this drummer.

so the bass drop is stacked up with a specific drum pad hit as well? I have also heard this in Sanction songs and other bands. Any drummers able to shed some light on what that is? You can see him hit it with his left stick at 2:17
Looks like a Roland SPD-X, it’s a sample pad that has about 6 rubber pads that you can hit to trigger samples, start/ stop songs or loops, or can be used as an ultra compact drum kit.
SPD-SX pad triggers the 808 drop. You can see earlier in the song when he uses the top three pads to play the electronic percs that happen during the bass intro too

Great performance! I know it's not related, but does anybody know what is the sound that slaps every second beat in the chorus? It sounds like some powerful drum hit (not sure which drum exactly), however it's not played by the drummer

Whats up with the loose tape on the rim? Is there some sort of fabric etc on the drum head side? Because there is no way tape alone sitting like that would muffle the head.
