We are renting DVC points for our upcoming trip. We rented points from the DVC store and it was so easy to do. We can not wait to go. We are staying at the Boardwalk for 8 days. This is going to be the way we go for now on. Thanks everyone for all you advice.
I rented points from the DVC Rental Store for the trip I took last week. I put in my request for a one bedroom villa at the Boardwalk exactly 11 months out and within 24 hours it was booked. It was the easiest points rental I ever did, and I’ve done this several times. This was my first time using DVC Rental Store. I chose this company because of their sponsorship of this show and their cancellation policy. Now I’m just waiting for the 11 month window to open for my September, 2023 trip🤣.
If you plan trips to Disney often, you should consider buying DVC. I recouped my purchase cost in 6 years and the rest is now bonus. Even with annual dues, I rent out points on occasion and that pays for dues and more.
How was the DVC Resort you stayed at including the food/beverage options, transportation to the Disney theme park? Where the savings worth it compared to staying at a non-Disney hotel? Any info you could share would be appreciated. Thank You.
I'm one of the victims - thank you for sharing our plight! In the end we were able to rebook with DVC Rental Store and I regret so much turning down our match when I was in the midst of dealing with the 'gentleman' who stole from us. FYI - we are now up to 27 families and nearly $92K stolen.
So sorry to hear what you've been going through Corey... please keep us posted as this develops further. Happy to hear that you were able to get rebooked with DVC Rental Store!
I’ve rented out my points on 3 separate occasions, albeit with a different rental company but the process is nearly identical and all three times I had my points rented out in less than 24 hours and money in my account approximately 24 hours later. These companies help protect people who rent their points while also protecting those who want to rent points.
@Pete Werner. I am totally upset with you and all of the people you have on your panel, you have all gotten me addicted to watching all of your content on all of your various shows. It all started with DVC, and now am down the rabbit hole. Thank you for all the great work you are doing, and the humor you bring to the show.
Rented some DVC points for the first time this year from the dvc rental store. My only complaint is that Paul wasn’t my rental agent. We had a great stay and all went seamlessly. We also almost saved 50% verse Disney rack rate.
Haha - Sorry I let you down. Lol - I'm sure our Reservation Specialist Team took amazing care of you though. Our entire team here at DVC Rental Store is a bunch of rockstars. Thanks for trusting us to give you a magical vacation!
Rented points from DVC rental for our summer trip, at the Polynesian, and can attest that it's a smooth transaction all the way. Thanks to Paul and his team
I wish I knew about being able to rent points from my first contract. I had no idea! I foolishly sold that direct contract a few years ago because we weren’t going to go for a while. If I had any idea about rental store, I would’ve done that for sure for a few years instead of selling the contract. Now things have changed for us. We bought back in resale using DVC resale market and Monera.
When renting always and only go by invoicing on PayPal.. when you find the room you want.. they send you the invoice for it and you are pretty protected doing it this way.
We own at BRV, but often stay at other resorts. To get around the 7-month limit, we will usually rent our points, and rent from someone who owns at that resort, so we can book right at the 11-month. So that is DOUBLE the risk, but it has always worked for us. We always use people with good reputations. For us, we are now more nervous about Disney shutting down due to covid, or hurricanes. What a mess that made for DVC a couple years ago
I always forget this is an option. We ran out of Marriott points (don’t have to travel for work anymore) so no more free stays at the Swan/Dolphin. We’ll look into this option.
I rented points through the DVC rental store for June 2020 way back when you had to pay an extra fee to be able to change your reservation. Obviously, that trip didn't happen and I got a credit for almost all the money I paid. I want to say thank you for how DVC rental store handled the shutdown situation and I am glad that you went to a tiered refund model instead. Getting to take my kids to the Polynesian last year, from that original booking, was magical.
I wouldn't call the scammer a "gentleman". This is certainly something that a lot of people renting points needs to watch out for. Nothing preventing the owner from cancelling the reservation after collecting money. Have to always know who you are working with and something is never 100% safe.
I've only come across DVC rental store a little over a year ago, and I've used your service a few times and it was flawless! I was nervous at first, but once I looked into your procedures, I felt more comfortable. Thank you for everything you do!
We’re here from Myrtle beach. The merch selection everywhere is slim to nothing. Supply chain issue or are they just not ordering. Every park has the same stuff a few selections of tops but not much. Food has been good. Cast members have been amazing.
We rented points through these guys for a trip coming up in 10 days and it was so simple and a quick process. Price to stay at the dvc resort we choose was about as much as staying at a moderate resort. Wish we would’ve looked into renting long ago.
Thank you for acknowledging the DVC rental scam. Some websites protect their DVC owners / renters to the point that you can't post complaints about owners who have scammed renters!!! No accountability on these sites, leading me to believe this scam is happening more often than anyone thinks! If I were ever in the market to rent points, it would be through a reputable, BBB approved business and not some random individual offering points for rent on some random website.
@@DestinationTimeshare I was told I couldn't when I made the post there. At least the story is getting out there but I wish the group he was proven to do most of his scamming from (DVC Disney Vacation Club Points Rental FB Group) would have named him since there was proof and he was a member until the end of March.
We rented our points to pay for our cruise, we wouldn’t have had enough points for the 3 staterooms we booked. We were able to pay for everything with that money: on board purchases, excursions, alcohol & the photo pkg ($450.). However, when I told the Member services rep. what I was doing, she told me, “it’s in your contract that you can’t rent your points out” So, I checked my contract and various other sources, she was completely wrong.
Maybe unrelated but are there anyways to link your vacation with the my Disney experience app? I’m planning to go in December and wanted to try out renting dvc points, but I wanted to link that reservation with MDE
I really enjoyed this show. I only recently started to rent out my points but I used David’s but I think I will go with you guys. The $18 a point is more than what David’s offered for my Poly resort.
Pete, I assume that you will be looking to purchase a contract for the new poly tower and I wanted to know if anyone had ever tried to band together as a group and buying their own points to see if disney would give them a better rate?
What are the tax implications of renting your points, is it considered income. Since it most likely income can you subtract the maintenance fee to offset the income and reduce the taxes?
Really interesting video that pertains to me. Been considering renting out points so it was good to get this info. I say I’ve been considering but can never bring myself to do it bc we always want to go ! Lol
We rented our points out so we could pay for a cruise because it is cheaper than using points for DCL. That way we still had points IF we wanted to go to WDW. But, it does matter how many points you own.
I think the issues with booking continues to relate somewhat to the number of points in the system due to pandemic related closures, banking, and point extensions. Typically confirmed reservations are secured by members who were planning to travel but then were unable to for some reason or another.
I don't know that Confirmed Reservations are simply owners who book and cant make it....that would mean a LOT of people had last minute problems since there are reservations available for every day essentially - multiple ones too. I could be wrong....I wish there was more transparency around it.
@@paulkrieger I still feel the number of Renters has increased since the inception of DVC exponentially. Personally I have never rented my points since its just enough for the traveling I need. But I have found that last minute trips have become impossible since the increase of renting agency's in the dawn of the internet age. Just an anecdotal account I know. But I am assuming that making business out of it, was not it's original intention.

Just booked AKL for 300 dollars more than an all star room. It's SO worth it! Additionally, I'd recommend going through a private person if you're not concerned about canceling. Only spent $18 PP compared to $20-22 through any of thr popular sites.

I rented points from DVC rental store two times now. Fantastic experience!!! One was a split stay which we really enjoyed.

I assume you have to report the income from renting points on your taxes and pay taxes on them?
Very interesting episode. We have thought on and off about renting out or renting points. This was very informative. Thank you!
Can you rent out transfered points or the extra 24 points per year bought through Disney? Is there a minimum about you have to rent out?
Hi Jennifer - Both types of points can be rented! :)
I think a deposit in a Paypal account for $600+ will generate a tax form in 2022. Its quicker than ACH, but ACH won't generate a tax form.
