the silver version yes. I have it on my synths/keys/guitars BUS. The other versions (brown or the green original from the 40s) are much different, way darker

That's a lot to ask no-doubt, but these sound so different that although I know which one I like most (UAD Grey), I would also like to know how well it emulates, because that's only fair. Wasn't the original mostly used for vocals? So perhaps the wrong one has been made to shine with this input. I can't tell now.
They all sound good but all are not the same from my own perspective, some sound glued, some are transparent, some more open , some little boomy, Bx Opto, Cakewalk, sound glued, Cp2v, UADLA2A silver created more room space, tele LA 2A silver and Gray sound Boomy, T Rack white 2 A sound more Transparent, , TBs white, Waves CLA-2A, Gen Comp LA, waves sound more settle, NI VCA 2A VLA2A sound the same, Analogue Obsession was down a little bit not quite there like others, For Kicks only. That's because they are working differently. This test is pretty bad IMO, they have different SC settings and going by ''oh look the GUI sais its -3db reduction'' never results in all of them having that exact same amount of reduction. This is audio engineering 101, never mix with your eyes.

@@HasanDelenHomeStudio technically, you are correct... but it is a LA-2A with more control over parameters... and LA-2A on steroids if you will. So if you like the LA-2A but want a little more control, you will love the TLA-100A.
TLA-100A is a vari mu compressor, powered by tubes not optical cells, it’s definitely not an opto compressor. Don’t know where you got your impression.
More than a compressor, it seems that the gain/volume only gets lower, I think it is because the release is slower than ohters... I was so disappointed (because some of the Analog Obession's stuff is great), so for LA-2A emulation I prefer Waves, Overloud and Cakewalk (too bad this one is not available anymore)
I would have liked more background information on how you set this test up. If for example you used the internal meters of the plug-ins to make the gain reduction 'equal' then this test is already much less useful.
Not to mention that the sidechain (detector) settings are allover the place, most are on 20hz, CA2A is on 125hz, and some don't even have the option. Obviously you can hear them not compressing equally.
I don't want to ruin the vibe and the purpose of this video, but I totally see a bunch of compressors that can used creatively ; minus the emulation stigma.
The UAD Silver and Gray were by far the closest to an LA2A. The CLA wasn't terrible and the BX had an interesting tone but not LA2Aish. Some of the others were AWFUL.

The UAD Gray is hard to beat. Loved the Mellomuse CP2V and T-Racks White 2A. Kinda disappointed in the waves CLA -2A.

Two glaring omissions in your shootout... Softube/UAD TLA-100A and Presonus Fat Channel. Both VERY good, especially the TLA-100A which is my go-to.

AO LA LA blew all these away and its FREE
T-RackS White 2A & Waves CLA-2A - coloring vocals so good, try use it both on one vocal track.
Analog Obsession sound best on bass to me. Followed by Overloud.
UAD Grey = NI VC2A
