Finally! Someone said it. People keep saying it's like Jedi Survivor, but no, it hsa the same combat setup and controls and hacking as Watch Dogs. It's just that the vehicles are limited to the speeder bike instead of having other cars/trucks/motorcycles to drive.
Why are games always trying to force us online? If you need to always be connected to play a game I'm never going to get it. I have good Internet too, it just annoys me.
Hey, thanks, Luke! You giving this game a fair shake is really uplifting. You're just such a breath of fresh air in this super cynical gaming world of ours. I love Uncharted, I love Star Wars and I love story-rich single player games. This _might_ be right up my alley. Look, I know it's Ubisoft and I hate that company with a passion, but a good game is a good game - no matter the circumstances. And Outlaws' fate ain't sealed yet. It really could be just a damn good game. Combat doesn't look too great, but if exploration, movement, gameplay variety and - most important for me - story make up for that, yeah, I'm game. To no-one's surprise, people still just *want to* hate this game. If it's not their kind of game, fair enough, but it's embarassing how willing people always are to hate something just for hate's sake and because "everyone" does it 🙄 Again, thanks for having a positive mindset, man! :-)
The game looks awesome so far, glad this is an actual fair review unlike a lot of people hating on everything Star Wars lately for legit no reason. Sucks that your community is now calling you a shill and “how much you get paid to review this” and all that annoying fake stuff in the comments. Glad the game is polished, that was my main worry. Jedi Survivor took over a year to be playable on my RTX 3080 PC, super happy this game so far is nothing like that terrible optimization
Is there a space exploration aspect? Can you go from planet to planet? Travel the galaxy? Or is it just like points that take you to set pieces pretty much?
It sounds like this game actually might be good, which is a surprising shame because I just cannot bring myself to support Ubisoft considering all their money-hungry decisions (like the pay walling missions). I would love to like and play this game, but I wont even get the chance to.
I've never been one to fully boycott a company. I don't buy when it's bad and buy when it's good. Letting a good product suffer because of previously bad products only tells the investors that people don't like that stuff. Like when Solo released after TLJ. It was a far better movie, but flopped at the box office because of how bad the previous movie was. Now we haven't had a decent star wars movie since.
@@NoCluYT It was both. Solo was "meh" at best AND TLJ didn't help it. I see no problem with "voting with your wallet" if a company does things that you don't agree with. It's why I won't consume a Star Wars product; because Disney doesn't deserve my money.
I think I will wait for reviews after release Ubisoft and Disney just make all pre-release reviews untrustworthy. Even if you are I feel like they would manipulate the situation to ensure a good review.
A lot of people are saying wait for it to be on sale before buying. I would just pay the $15 Ubisoft subscription for 1 month. You'll easily be able to complete it in that time and then you can play another game like avatar or something with the remaining time you have.
@@vodkavecz Yeah, people have forgotten that Season Passes pre-date the 'Live Season' model. This, like literally every other Single Player Ubisoft title, has one that'll unlock the DLC when it drops. There are many reasons to be wary of a Ubisoft title, the 'Season Pass' thing is not one of them.
This would be a nice game to get on sale. I have never been a huge fan of Starwars but I liked Avatar enough to give this a chance. These games usually go on sale a few weeks later anyway
I'm honestly pretty hyped for this, I love Star Wars and have no problem with the Ubisoft formula. I feel like this could be really good if you're not looking for deep, intricate combat and general design but just some simple fun
I think the planet surface transition with the ship will get just as old as Starfield, you just haven’t done it hundreds of times yet so it seems okay for now. It’s essentially doing the same thing though, it’s hard locking you into a cutscene for landing, it just disguises it by filling up the screen with cloud cover 😂
So you would rather have a black screen loading that takes you out of the immersion than a landing sequence loading screen which would keep you immersed?

I would say two things, one, I don't think this game is worth $130. Two, think that Ubisoft tend to present really well and then when the game goes live and we see the microtransaction and the bloat we have a better understanding of how the game is going to be
hmmm.. If you have limited landing spots you could almost just use a choice of quicktime movies for landing. That wouldnt stop you overlaying different ships including the clouds they interact with, and seamlessly transitioning to a mesh of the city just before your ship's shadow becomes visible. I bet some old games have done that. (Mass effect did movie sequences, but they didnt attempt to make it seamless.)
Regarding the 30fps cutscenes… I wonder if this is a creative choice from the studio heads as this was the same in Jedi: Survivor and I assumed it was to make the cut scenes feel more cinematic and closer to 24fps. Or maybe it was just a case that the engine couldn’t render the cutscenes at a higher frame rate.
Didn’t see that when you check PlayStation store also pretty sure you get the Ubisoft subscription for a month to play it for no more than like 12 bucks

I hope the gunplay doesn’t get dry. Keep in mind, this was only around 45 minutes of gameplay (maybe the game is shorter due to its narrative so hopefully we don’t notice) but I’m getting Jedi Survivor vibes without Lightsabers and Force abilities, using ship combat and gunplay instead. Maybe the difficulty settings will help with combat feeling too easy , and the platforming honestly may just make or break it in my opinion.
If it's not their kind of game, fair enough, but it's embarassing how willing people always are to hate something just for hate's sake and because "everyone" does it 🙄
Again, thanks for having a positive mindset, man!
Can't wait to rent this before they take it back.
It sounds like this game actually might be good, which is a surprising shame because I just cannot bring myself to support Ubisoft considering all their money-hungry decisions (like the pay walling missions). I would love to like and play this game, but I wont even get the chance to.
Ypu could always wait 1.5 years to get a good deal
just buy it for 15 bucks in a year or so.
@@NoCluYT nah Solo flopped because nobody cared about a Han Solo movie. I sure did not care at all
@@NoCluYT It was both.

I think the planet surface transition with the ship will get just as old as Starfield, you just haven’t done it hundreds of times yet so it seems okay for now. Well, they can take notes from NMS, but I doubt it.

Ah yes, very fluid!
Ubisoft does fluids really well.
Usually it's by making me vomit.

Thanks for posting this, Luke. It's great to hear some positivity. I'll still wait for this to appear on steam, though.
My mans has never heard of a vertical slice. Of course it was super polished and fluid, it's the 3% of a game they've spent 70% of their time on so it plays flawlessly. As opposed to something like STALKER 2 where GSC is going to just show you honestly where the game is actually at because they don't have the resources to spend forever super polishing a highly specific 30 minutes of hype fuel.
