    The footswitch for this amp has two switches. The reason it isn't working the way you think it should is that you have the wrong footswitch. They sell one with a switch for the channel and one for the effects.

    Thanks for actually taking the time and going through all of the effects one by one in order. I'm very seriously considering this amp. In fact I'm pretty set on it but I'm still looking just to be sure. I'm buying the epi tribute les Paul with the Gibson pickups with it, so it was an added bonus that you were using an lp. This amp definitely appears to be the front runner in it's price category for classic rock tones.

    Often categorised as a beginners or home playing amp, but I take mine out instead of a Blues Junior to jams and rehearsals...it's that good! But to get max volume out of it, a speaker change to something with higher efficiency is worthwhile. A used Jensen C12N I had in the cupboard gives me an amp to gig with. Well pleased :-)

  • @jamesc5393
    @jamesc5393 7 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    Mate thanks for doing a review where the amp isn't mic'd up. This way you get a much better sense of the sound in a room than having it run through an interface.

    The effects are great, but it would be nice if you could combine then. Eg: tremolo with reverb to get that haunting Duane Eddy sound. As much as the effects are great, there's no replacing pedals where combinations/adjustments are almost limitless.

    Great demo man. Thank you for posting this. A lot of YT reviews are either shredding or blues riffs with several pedals in front of the amp (that never get mentioned), everything mic'd up, etc. They never really show you how the amp will sound in the room. It's nice to see how this amp will actually sound if I go buy it and set it in my room. Thanks again! This is highly appreciated. BTW I absolutely love those Epi plus top pro models, excellent guitar for the money.

      @LasVegasGuitarStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. I agree with what you're saying about some product review videos. I actually purchased this amp so I wanted to just show it unfiltered... and the Epiphone Les Paul top pros are pretty solid. I think maybe half the cost of a Gibson but with a substantial feel. The Grover machine heads on these models are a nice upgrade to what I remember on an older Epi Les Paul I used to own. Take care.

    Reverb only or chorus only?

  • @dekzan

    Best solid state combo in the world. I bought the 20w, louder better sounding than Mustang. Better Marshall mods than Peavey Vip1, (Bluesbreaker, Plexi, JCM800) and way louder than Marshall MGFX 30w. Modulates greatly the Fender amps, Boogie Recto, etc. Well, that is enough. I also just ordered the 40W. I tried all the others in the market and this is THE BEST. Loud, great gain and effects. I use it sometimes with an MXR Wylde OD, vut its not necessary. No, I don't have any thing with Fender. Katana sounds horrible, thin, bassy, no brightness.

    • @DerpRulesAll
      @DerpRulesAll 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I hope I can help answer your question, since no one has responded yet, and I'm a big fan of that style of guitar music myself. This amp, which is the Champion 40, would allow you to play The Shadows' music _perfectly._ They used Vox amps, but Fenders would definitely suffice. The Champion 20 could definitely pull the trick as well. Both the 20 and 40 have pretty sumptuous reverbs. Those sounds would be far better suited to both of these than the 'Metal' and 'British Distortion' they put in for some reason.

    awesome, Im getting this amp and a Cort CR250, both are great and I can get a good blues tone and a hard rock/classic metal tone for what I've seen. The good thing is that it doesn't require too many pedals, just a sound supressor and a wah, maybe. Hope it doesn't disappoint me!

    Great thanks. I used the gain tho push the effect a little bit. But the tone gets realy dark. And open more up at volume 5. Not great for at home.
    So i used the 60s effect whith the spring hall effect. Its better.
    Do you have tips for a bleus tone. Where its bright. And more dirty when you play louder. The tone is more in the fingers.
    Sorry for my bad English.

    I'll use channel 2 for a crunch / rhythm sound then when I use my Boss overdrive pedal to get a volume increase for a solo, nothing changes; the volume remains the same no matter how much I increase the gain or volume on the pedal.

      I think you can get very close. I sat down for a few minutes and tried to match that song. The best combo in my opinion was "90's Metal" voicing with about half or more of the gain, slight "reverb and chorus" and my guitar on the treble pickup. You may need some compression to tighten it up further which this amp does not offer, but the best judge is your own ears. If you have access to try the amp out that is always best.

    • @LasVegasGuitarStudio

      Right, the Boss effects will probably be better because it is dedicated to just the effects and it costs more than the amp itself. You probably will want to leave the amp clean and rely on the Boss for the effects, but you can probably get some cool combinations after experimenting. I have some experience with Boss pedals but I am not an expert on the equipment.

      Well there are a lot of different distortions on the amp itself and coupled with the effects you could probably get close to the tone, but If I was going to play with drums and bass in the style of music you identified, I would get something with more power. This is basically a practice amp. Best thing to do is to just go to the store and play all different types. If you are new to playing, this might be good because the price is reasonable.

But, then again, it probably has some internal switching going on in the Amp Jack that would negate this attempt. Gareth is correct, buy the "Two-Button" version, like I did.

      Well, it depends what your goals are, what you will use it for etc.? I use it for practicing and my guitar videos so it works for me, and it's a pretty decent amp for the money. If you plan on playing loud music with drums and bass, then you should look at something with more punch.

      It's a cakewalk beat sounding like an 808 without the clap. No claps in my beats.

    Can I get Nirvana sound with that amp? Like in the song Smells Like Teen Spirit.

    • @LasVegasGuitarStudio
      @LasVegasGuitarStudio  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In that song you have a lot of different tones, so I think you can get the distorted rhythm pretty well and the cleanish sound right at the beginning of the song, but the signature two notes sounds like it has a lot of chorus and less distortion, so you'll need some kind of pedal if you want to do both sounds with one guitar.

    Whoa brother, where did you get a Fender foot-switch for around $14, as the best price I've seen anywhere is $24.95 at every guitar online store?

    • @walkerbelle
      @walkerbelle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah huh, I spoke too soon, as you purchased the "auxiliary" foot-switch rather than the proper Fender Champ 2-button foot-switch that goes with that particular amp. See what happens when we try to save a buck? I just called an online music store (well known) and asked them why a 2-channel amp only has 1 input rather than 2 like the "old school" Fender amps ALL use to provide plus, Fender "ALWAYS" included the foot-switch with every amp they made than required one. Today, everything, including the damn power cord on some electronics/music accessories is an optional item. THIEVES!!!
      Great video brother and I hope you got the correct 2-button Fender Champ foot switch (ASSY. P/N 0071359000) that goes with this amp since the video is more than a year old now?

    • @LasVegasGuitarStudio
      @LasVegasGuitarStudio  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was from guitar center. Now it is priced at at $18.95. But this is a 1-button. I've since learned that a 2 button is the one to get.

    • @walkerbelle
      @walkerbelle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the 2-button pedal is the one you want. I really appreciate you showing the amp itself without having a mic feeding into a much better, more expensive amp like most of the videos on here and you don't get a true sound that way. They're not BS-ing anyone when they do that! ;-) Great video brother, thanks for taking the time and doing it proper for those of us who want to hear THAT amp, not pushed thru another amp! BTW, nice jamming too! ;-) Cool, I'll be playing my Epiphone LP thru this amp when it comes. I finally decided to go with it and do away with that toy 15W Epihpne that I've been using since forever, lol.

      Sadly not. I have it and it's pretty hard to sound like ax7 :(
      it isn't an amp thought to play metal, even though there's the option.

  • @Cliffahoy
    @Cliffahoy ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry dude you have the wrong foot switch and its works totally different then you showed. With the correct foot switch, you can actually have 3 different settings and sounds. It's a nice amp and been using it for 3 years with the correct Foot switch. Make sure you order the footswitch made for it to get the full effects from the amp.

    You bought. the wrong foot switch, the proper one has two switches, one for channel and the other to turn on and off the effects...

  • @el_nestorvgc
    @el_nestorvgc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    you're using the wrong footswitch. If you want to control both the channel and effect you MUST use the double footswitch

  • @SuperCarver2011

    Well after the fact as this demo is over a year old now.
    I got a Fender Champion 40 last month. Great little amp, but it needs an Eminence Legend V1258 or a Celestion V series to replace that mediocre Chinese "no name" 12 inch speaker it comes with..
    Also the foot switch you use in the demo is not the correct footswitch. I had to construct one with two footswitches, one for channel select (red led) and one to turn EFX on andoff independently.
    It was hard to find that footswitch schematic. It appears to be a special circuit inside the amp and most foot switches avaIlable t will not work properly on the Champion 20/40 , and most likely the 100 as well, since it is the same series.
    The footswitch requires a 5.1 volt zener, as well as a isolation diode to work properly with the two switches and Red (ch sel;) an dGreen (efx) Leds.
