I have a '21 Rogue I bought May 2023 with only 5k miles on it. 2 mos later I was in an accident. After all the body work was done and I got the vehicle back, I had this same issue in the video. Nissan ended up with the car for 3.5 months. Eventually theu replaced the entire wiring harness (covered by Nissan as they deemed it was unrelated to the accident I guess). I dont know what all they tried in that 3.5 months but I just got the car back on January after being without it since July. Ive already had to take it back in for the AC not working and now theres a different parking brake sensor issue. Fun times. Im glad its all under warranty.
Thank you so much for this video. Mine ended up popping the warning after I had parked without me knowing. Went out the next evening to go to a meeting, and my battery was almost completely dead. Had to have it towed to the dealership. They had to load it with the vehicle still in park because jumping it never gave it enough power to even put it in neutral, let alone start. It won't be ready until at least Monday. Ironically I had already had an appointment for a recall repair today.
Sorry to hear it killed your battery. I was lucky to have gotten back to the vehicle pretty quickly so I didn’t know that was even a possibility. Hope you get everything figured out! Good luck
Hi I’m from saipan. This is the same issue what you have experienced what I see here we all help it’s other to fight this Nissan rogue issue has to apply as recall this car because we pay expensive but we are not happy only 6month when I buy this car have to many issue happened to me.
Dealing with these issues in a 2023 Nissan rogue from a rental company at the moment, along with a warning that came up yesterday afternoon and yesterday evening about "service CVT power reduced" the parking one just started this afternoon when i went out to shovel. Was going to head to a car place to check out cars but never got to go. Brake wouldnt push down like it should and when i hit the start button it did not fully start the vehicle and gave me a few dash lights and that brake warning. The parking break is lit up and when i push down or pull up on it it doesnt shut the little light off. When i pushed on the axtual brake to ty and tirn the car back off to try and restart it the warning stayed on and started dinging
My Nissan Rogue had a same massage today. Try to star a car won’t start . It look battery died. Even try to jump it still the same. WTH is going on ? Only 10,000 a year old 2021 . Now have to tow it tomorrow to dealership and this i a second time for other issues was in . Don’t feel safe with this vehicle.if this occurs more time I’ll take an action with LEMON LAW.
Another thing to check when this kind of thing happens randomly is as you say you're a salesman and you're getting in and out of your car all the time you're stopping and starting so you're taking a lot of short trips which is not going to charge your battery normally. Not going to charge it in a normal daily way. So what I'm suggesting is the voltage on your battery might be not quite high enough to maintain all the computer systems and crap that goes on behind the scenes even when the car is off. One way to combat this for delivery drivers and sales people that are always driving and doing a lot of short trips, or keeping their car idling a lot, best thing to do is obviously frequent oil changes however, I digress, the main thing you want to do is trickle charge your battery every night or at least once a week to full charge. At the very least once a week overnight trickle charge maintain that battery up to its full potential. It's not indicative of battery going bad it's just indicative of a battery not being charged completely enough you can still start the car because you have the extra battery in the back compartment that actually is the starter battery, uses the amperage from that battery to start the car. Yes much like the mystery of 2 radiator bottles, so too is the mystery of two batteries.
Similar thing happened today to my Nissan Rogue 2021 SV (Canada). The car does not start. When I tried to start it ALL lights on a dash were flashing on and off like christmas lights. Then the alarming sound appeared and the warning message "When parked apply parking brake". I could not to do anything to make this message disappear. So even if you are out of the car and doors are locked the message is flashing on the dash with alarming sound. The arrows on the speedometer and tachometer are shivering. Later, one of the tail lights started flashing while the other was completely off. So at the end, I believe, the battery was drained by alarming sound + error message about parking. Towed to Nissan. P.S. It was cold today (-19) felt like -30. But it is not a critical temp for a car. Or maybe for other cars except Nissan. Lol)))
I guess it's so true to not buy any vehicle the very first year it is produced. The 2021 model was new and has so many issues. I have the 2022 SV FWD with a new turbo 3-cylinder engine. The new engine and CVT are just fine (knock on wood) but the HVAC system has been problematic, but I've learned to just live with it. Before my 3 years or 36K miles warranty is up, I'm getting rid of the car, don't want to be on the hook for costly electronic-related repairs.
I had this happen to me, but I was stuck in Park and the car wouldn't start. I called the dealer and talked to a mechanic. He said to try to jump start the car. I couldn't move the car to jump start it, so borrows a battery booster from a neighbor. Started right up. I let the engine run for a while thinking it was a bad battery. I didn't get the same error, but the ABS light was on, and the collision indicator lights came on, as if it was really malfunctioning bad. Took the car down to test the battery and it was marginal, so I replaced the battery, and all the funky error lights and messages went away. So, if you are getting random lights and messages. check your battery. Bought a battery booster again to keep in the car incase my wife or I have the same issue out on the road.
Mine is definitely not the battery because I still have the same battery four years in and when my message comes on, it doesn’t let you shift into park. It stays in neutral as many other people on this have stated, some peoples cars have rolled into lakes, so I don’t think your issue and this issue was the same thing.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I realize that it may not have been the same cause as what you experienced, but after I saw the error, I found your TH-cam video. So, I thought I would add my experience with this error message in case someone else experience the same thing. Thanks.
This happened to me today when I tried to start my car. I thought it was the battery but a friend Googled the issue and found this video. Ironically, the dealer called me yesterday to ask if I wanted to extend my warranty.

I’m dealing with the same issue with my 2024 Infiniti. I got the same error, but my car is stuck in drive, and I can’t shift it into neutral or park. I tried applying the parking brake, turning the car off, and even disconnecting the battery, but nothing worked-the car remains in drive, and the error won’t go away. I had to place rocks under the tires to keep it from rolling until I can get it to the dealership tomorrow. In desperation, I called a tow truck. The first tow truck couldn’t help since the car wouldn’t go into neutral, so I had to request one with a wheel lift to move it out of the parking I’m in complete shock that this is happening with a brand-new car. I can’t understand how this is even possible.
My rogue bought in May 1st, 2021. Today when I start the car it shows something like " keep key near the igniter", and then shows "when parked apply parking brake", The worse is the can't be started. Thanks, I know it is not my fault. It makes people sad.
Same thing happened to me this morning. The warning sound must’ve been going off all night killed my battery. I discovered it before the battery was totally dead and the remote did not work to do anything I couldn’t even start the car. This is very disheartening. The rogue does not seem to be a great car. It is not the first time I have had computer issues with it. now I have to get it back to the dealership service center. And now the parking brake is stuck on so I can’t even drive. Anyone have a solution for that?
Right now I have the same issue with my 2021 Nissan Rogue but it is worse. I owned it for a month. Yesterday morning I drove the car without problem as all days before. I parked it in garage. About 1pm I got the following message from my residence management "Hello Everyone, There is a black Nissan Rogue on the 2nd floor of the deck with the lights on." It was my car. I rushed into the garage and what I saw was. The all lights of the car were flashing. I tried to stop it using car remote control but nothing happened. I tried to unlock doors, again nothing happened. I pressed the small button on the handle of driver's door to unlock it. Nothing. The car was absolutely unresponsive to the remote control. I pulled the mechanical car key out of the remote control and unlock the door. When I got inside the car I tried to turn on the engine. Nothing happened except the message about parking as in this video popped up. The car was dead except flashing lights. I got out of the car and when I closed the door and locked it with the mechanical key the lights stopped flashing. I came to my apartment and called Roadside Assistance of Nissan Connect app for help. When I returned to the car 1 hour later, it was miracle! The car responded to the remote control. I opened the door, got inside and tried to start the engine. This time the car didn't obey. I saw a lot of symbols lit-up on the dashboard but the engine didn't start. I left the car locked it with remote control and call Nissan for roadside assistance again. In 1 hour I returned to the car and found it COMPLETELY DEAD again. So my 2021 Nissan Rogue started living its own life independently on me. Some time it was dead, then it resurrected partly and so. I think Nissan should recall 2021 Rogue because it is definitely very unsave to drive it right now. You never know when its dangerous behavior occurs. Maybe on highway or crowded street.
I had a 2021 rogue that was Lemon lawd. The first time it happen the car wouldn’t start. We try to jump it with another car and then with a jumper box. Nothing happened so it was towed into the dealership. They put a new battery in and brought it back to me. The second incident was the same thing and the lights came on but I had no electricity anywhere in the car windows wouldn’t go up couldn’t shift it couldn’t start it nothing. There again it was towed to the dealership and they said that they run a diagnostic on it and that there was a virus in the computer system. The third time it happened they said that it was a loose connection with the alternator. The fourth incident they blamed it on a USB cable it was hooked up to a flashlight I now have a new rogue same color same model. Last weekend the same issues wouldn’t start could put in the gear couldn’t do anything no radio no air just warning lights. Tow company came and tried to use a jumper box to start and it wouldn’t start. So I was towed to the dealership and they put a new battery in it like they did the first one. So stay tune to see if this one does the same thing and I have to lemon law a second car. BTW I talked to my salesman and he said that they wound up taking a car back to corporate Nissan as far as he knows it’s still not fixed. If anybody’s having this type of problem contact me I’d like to know some more about it mylilgrij@yahoo.com
The same thing the only thing was when I was backing up it would break automatically and wouldn’t go past that I would go forward they would go back again. It would break again and then I went back again. I turned it off. I turned it on, and then I backed up and everything was OK.
it is telling you to apply the brake button by the HOLD button...parking brake button NOT your PARK button...emergency brake button is what it is talking about...it detects your car on possible a upgrade....
It’s really not though. Because it causes a check engine light. I had this same thing happen yesterday and applying the parking brake button did nothing , it wouldn’t let me apply the emergency brake, go into any gear (vehicle was rolling in neutral when I let off the foot brake) including park. Once I turned the vehicle off and back on it let me apply the brake and whatever else but this message comes up before you can even apply the park gear. It totally locks you out of all controls. Had to take it to the dealer again. Got a check engine light both times.
What it call that need to clear code my mom 2021 rogue done it today it was say samething thot it was dead battery she paid 400 for new one but that same warn light she got
I just had the fix applied to my Rogue. They said the service bulletin contains an software update. Took 3 hours to download and install. This will NEVER be a recall issue because Nissan does not consider it to be a safety issue. Highly recommend you take along the service bulleting number shown in the original video.
I have the same thing happing to me and I gotta wait to take it to them this coming Monday . The only problem is that this alarm when it come overnight , it drain the batterie . So is it a just software issue ??!!
Would you be able to provide any info on the TSB or any specific info in terms of diagnostic codes? I’m trying to help my mom with her rogue. The dealership pulled the old “it was the battery” and it didn’t fix the problem.
This is exactly what happened to me. I took a short trip across the street and this happened. I think I may have hit the emergency brake when still in drive? Or when I pushed P it didn't register. I now have a check engine light. I HATE this car. Now my remote start doesn't work and it is winter here.
Same issues I’m experiencing and after taking it to the dealer I still get this stupid error message. Literally looking at it right now as it’s beeping at me lmao
I just had this happen to me with my 21 Rouge. It apparently had this error beeping in the car around 10 o’clock am until 7am the next day. That least that is my guess, even though it didn’t come on while I was still near the car. My battery was barely able to jump start. My steering wheel was locked and could not get it to start at all. I asked why was I able to park in my garage, get out, get my dog out before leaving the garage without this coming on. The dealership said they had never heard of this happening.
Happen to me 3 times in a year so far. Dealer told me a different story each time with a different reason for the check engine light each time. So it’s still happening lol. I was told it was a code for sonar system, then intake manifold and the third time transmission was re programmed. Let’s see how long it lasts
I find small local shops have the best quality of work of you manage to find a good place. If you don’t have good work then people stop coming. But with a dealership people will keep showing up no matter what.
It’s a Nissan that’s the issue. This is a problem with most of their cars and they won’t admit it so there’s no fix because apparently there is not problem
Hey Mike, my name is Sherry. I am having the exact same problem with my rogue. It is a SL. I noticed yours is a SV but Nissan is trying to tell me that I need a 1600 alternator. There's one difference in yours and mine when I get in the car every morning that red error message from the brakes are showing and it's beeping. However, it's killing my battery every night and I have to jump start my car. Once I jump start. It runs beautifully all day long. No codes, no nothing. And they're trying to tell me I need an alternator. Unfortunately I'm out of warranty because I travel for a living just like you. But I travel the world. Let me know if you have any more information on. Greatly appreciate it
It’s not the alternator if it’s charging up after you jump it. If you jump it and it starts again it’s most likely not the alternator. As for how to make the error message stop I would try applying the emergency brake/ parking brake every time you park
Thanks for sharing the video, my car just did that and exactly like you described, now l have an engine light on, will call nissan tomorrow, what a pain, I have to drive to Vancouver to the dentist tomorrow ... grrr.... l see that you havent had any issues after, by any chance anybody experiencing problems with the audio going in mute for a few seconds every once in a while ??
Actually I’ve had this happen 3 separate times. Months apart from each other. Each time the dealer tells me it’s a completely different issue. First time they recalibrated the sonar system. Second time they reprogrammed the transmission. Third time I was told it was the intake manifold. It seems they don’t even know what the actual issues is. The audio and screen are another common problem on all new Nissans.
I have no idea what you’re actually asking? yI told you it happened three times are you asking if it happened a fourth time? It’s not something that is constantly happening, it gives me the error message and I move on and continue driving until I get to a dealer and have it resolved.
Ive been getting the message as well, usually when I get out a few seconds or mins later I get back in. It hasn't sat for long. I just shut the car off and on and it goes away. I won't have time to go to a dealer til after the holidays
@@SmokinMonkeyOG they said they're getting me a new shifter now, so hopefully this fixes it but we have a brand new Sentra that also has problems, had a brand new kicks and juke that both had problems as well, sadly I think Nissan is done being able to make a reliable car anymore
Can I get a copy of that bulletin. Our dealership denies it exists. You can take a copy with your phone and send it. That would be sufficient. We bathe car rolling backward after being parked and going in the house. It hit a tree. Thank you

I bought 2021 Nissan rouge 8 months ago Three were problems 1.infotainment system rebooted randomly 2.Rear sensor when backing out of drive way there nothing else behind me it get stuck I getting mad I pushed harder emergency brakes were when detected something there nothing else behind me because uneven surfaces it didn’t work Emergency brakes kept stopping me from going I just slamming on gas pedal to move 3.backup camera inoperable infotainment system rebooted I taking in to local dealership get it fixed
Mine is doing that right now. The same message car wouldn't start. I have a 2021 Rogue. I just had it towed to the dealership. I didn't do anything. I went to pick my daughter up from school, and this was the message I got. The car wouldn't start or anything.
Hi Bro, I mistakenly left my vehicle(2022 Nissan Rogue SL) on, the whole night, when I saw it in the morning, whole lights came up, I got the same parking error, and I also got CVT Malfunction Service now, do you have any idea of the second issue, I am able to follow your video for the first error message. Thanks.
No idea for the second one, I asked my dealer to change my cvt fluid as per the manual but they still haven’t done it. As for the first one the message that pops up is what kills your battery. It will display until someone comes back and starts the vehicle. If left overnight it will drain the battery. Even though it’s the same message every time my dealer tells me a different story every time. I guess this is what happens when you get an entry level vehicle like a rogue…. They’re not made as well as they should be
that happened today to me i removed negative cable wait couple minutes later i put back the baterie lost energy i recharged the baterie car again running Lucky me
The other day my 2021 rouge gave me an error on its all wheel drive system and then engine lost half of its power a min later as i was driving. Also, I got 100 other errors on my dash simultaneously. I pulled over, turn off the car and back on a few min later and then the issue was gone. Watch out!
It was say this Thursday night it wouldn't start as if it was dead battery it said apply breaks push start than this warn light came on. We left it than my mom sister sent her grandson to jump it started she got it start next day go work but she need jump again so she can bring to dealer to see if was dead battery. The mechanic look he tried charge for hours wouldn't hold charge he said I'm surprised you guys was able to jump it so they put new battery in charge her 400. Well today was her first time drive since get it back home from get new battery she was at dairy queen this same warning light came on she was able put park than still said so she turn off than back on an put it in low the warn went away she put in drive she got down rd said it again the doors was unlock an lock on it own dash board lite up like this.
Everyone I know that owns a Subaru loves them and hasn’t had anything bad to say about them at all. Can’t say the same for Nissan though. Good luck on your new vehicle purchase!
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I called and they said no bulletin for it. They didn’t even know what it was. So I assume I will have to keep charging my battery as it will drain it if the alarm comes on every time? They state replace battery but the battery is 2 years old and checked they said it was great.
I’ve never replaced my batter once and I’ve had this problem at least a dozen times. Just have to keep an eye on it when you park. It will usually make the noise right away
Not sure because I’ve never had my battery drain so I’m not sure but I would guess the alarm and the notification on the dash are what drain the battery. Just have to keep an eye on the car when you park it or start using the parking brake every time like it says on the screen

Mine is in the shop right now with the exact issue
Did you have to get a rental
The fourth incident they blamed it on a USB cable it was hooked up to a flashlight
I now have a new rogue same color same model.
Damn that’s nuts. I hope you don’t have that happen again to the new one.
My 21 Rogue SL kicked out of park News years and rolled into the lake. Shallow water t.g.
The same thing the only thing was when I was backing up it would break automatically and wouldn’t go past that I would go forward they would go back again. It would break again and then I went back again. I turned it off. I turned it on, and then I backed up and everything was OK.
Ok
it is telling you to apply the brake button by the HOLD button...parking brake button NOT your PARK button...emergency brake button is what it is talking about...it detects your car on possible a upgrade....
This happened to me just now in a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. (A 3 row Rogue). Taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
What was the response?
@@julietoothman3840 Need to replace the battery. Low voltage error codes. After replacing it hasn't come back again.
Just happened to our 2023 Rogue
Update ?
Happen to me 3 times in a year so far. Dealer told me a different story each time with a different reason for the check engine light each time. So it’s still happening lol. I was told it was a code for sonar system, then intake manifold and the third time transmission was re programmed. Let’s see how long it lasts
Wow. That’s the dealer for you.
I bet you the smaller local shop with one customer per day will tell you exactly the problem
I find small local shops have the best quality of work of you manage to find a good place. If you don’t have good work then people stop coming. But with a dealership people will keep showing up no matter what.
My nissan rough 2021 same Issu what is the exact problem
@@SmokinMonkeyOG is it still persisting after the 3rd time ??
I have no idea what you’re actually asking? yI told you it happened three times are you asking if it happened a fourth time? It’s not something that is constantly happening, it gives me the error message and I move on and continue driving until I get to a dealer and have it resolved.
@@SmokinMonkeyOGThey are asking you if the issues continued to happen after the 3rd time. It's not hard to understand
I had the same warning message, but now my car won’t start at all. Cant drive it to the dealer. 21 Nissan Rogue
Going through this same thing now. The check engine light is not on but the warning break message comes on randomly.
Ive been getting the message as well, usually when I get out a few seconds or mins later I get back in. It hasn't sat for long. I just shut the car off and on and it goes away. I won't have time to go to a dealer til after the holidays
Having this problem on a 2020 Titan XD tonight.
Hello
Goodbye
Had this fixed once already and now it's doing it again
Had mine fixed 3 times and every time they told me some new story of the cause and it’s still doing it till this day
@@SmokinMonkeyOG they said they're getting me a new shifter now, so hopefully this fixes it but we have a brand new Sentra that also has problems, had a brand new kicks and juke that both had problems as well, sadly I think Nissan is done being able to make a reliable car anymore
Ya I’m thinking the same thing actually. Not a great track record recently
Was that covered by factory warranty? Or was it covered by the extended warranty the dealer sells?
I don’t believe I have any extended warranty. My vehicle is a 3 year lease. But no I didn’t pay anything it was all covered.

Can I get a copy of that bulletin. Our dealership denies it exists. You can take a copy with your phone and send it. That would be sufficient. We bathe car rolling backward after being parked and going in the house. It hit a tree. Thank you
My 21 Rogue SL kicked out of park and rolled into shallow water. A lake
I have the same issue happening as I write this lol .... is there a number for the bulletin
No idea but I’ve had this happen 3 separate times. Months apart from each other. Each time the dealer tells me it’s a completely different issue. First time they recalibrated the sonar system. Second time they reprogrammed the transmission. Third time I was told it was the intake manifold. It seems they don’t even know what the actual issues is. Electrical gremlins like I’ve never seen in any other vehicle in my life. Horrible
Just happened to me today...only 28k miles on the vehicle. What a joke, mine won't even start up.
I bought 2021 Nissan rouge 8 months ago
Three were problems
1.infotainment system rebooted randomly
2.Rear sensor when backing out of drive way there nothing else behind me it get stuck
I getting mad I pushed harder emergency brakes were when detected something there nothing else behind me because uneven surfaces it didn’t work
Emergency brakes kept stopping me from going I just slamming on gas pedal to move
3.backup camera inoperable infotainment system rebooted
I taking in to local dealership get it fixed
My 21 Rogue SL kicked out of park and rolled into a lake. Shallow water t.g.
That’s crazy. Sorry to hear that
I'm having the same exact issue and my car won't start
Did you get a fix, mines doing the exact same thing
Mine is doing that right now. The same message car wouldn't start. I have a 2021 Rogue. I just had it towed to the dealership. I didn't do anything. I went to pick my daughter up from school, and this was the message I got. The car wouldn't start or anything.
what happen after that?
Watch out!
Damn that’s not fun to look forward too. But I only have the front wheel drive
My 2023 nissan rogue just did this exact same thing to me yesterday
I have the same issue. My car won't even start.
That’s because the message was on the entire time and nobody noticed and it drained your battery
Thanks
The video made me hesitate to buy the 2022 Rogue :(. Instead I will consider to buy the Forester / Outback
Everyone I know that owns a Subaru loves them and hasn’t had anything bad to say about them at all. Can’t say the same for Nissan though. Good luck on your new vehicle purchase!
Happened to me today. Nissan told me it’s my battery. Battery checked and battery is good. They said they don’t know.
Unfortunately it’s a very common issue and there is no fix for it really
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I called and they said no bulletin for it. They didn’t even know what it was. So I assume I will have to keep charging my battery as it will drain it if the alarm comes on every time? They state replace battery but the battery is 2 years old and checked they said it was great.
I’ve never replaced my batter once and I’ve had this problem at least a dozen times. Just have to keep an eye on it when you park. It will usually make the noise right away
@@SmokinMonkeyOG it did it overnight. I woke up to it then. What is it then? The noise is what is draining my battery. What is causing it ?
Not sure because I’ve never had my battery drain so I’m not sure but I would guess the alarm and the notification on the dash are what drain the battery. Just have to keep an eye on the car when you park it or start using the parking brake every time like it says on the screen
Nissan Rogue sucks. I have one and it's a shit box. 5000km and 3 times to the dealership. This car is crap
Yup lol 😂
So true
