While I was studying in Australia, I went to Mackay to spend Christmas with my gf’s family. For those of you that don’t know, Mackay is a coal town. Pretty much everyone in that town is connected to the mine in some way. My gf’s sister and brother worked there. He was a train driver and she was one of the loading managers for the ships. According to her each coal ship would transfer roughly 10 million dollars worth of coal. My gf’s father was a hobby pilot and took us on flight one day and I got to see the coal mines and the ships. All those ships. Ships all the way past the horizon and this is from being several thousand feet up in the air. All those coal ships heading to China. Let’s ignore China’s coal usage and instead go after NYC wood fired pizza places! Absolutely ridiculous!

@@IAND-wg8fq I received an A in Macro and Microeconomics. Taxation discourages businesses from producing more and moves the equilibrium point to the left. Lowering taxes moves the equilibrium point to the right.
GDP is the predominant factor of inflation, deflation, employment, and unemployment. This is why when we have too large of inflation rates, the gov increases taxation to lower the inflation rate by slowing down businesses (the largest contribution of GDP is consumption, aka purchases).
When businesses are imposed upon with higher taxation rates, they increase prices. When the price increases, people spend less. When people spend less, this discourages the production rate of businesses, and the equilibrium point moves to the left.
This attempt at increasing taxes is probably to help slow the speed of inflation but at the expense of the less wealthy. Economics is about balance. Unfortunately, many tend to favor the rich over the poor. Most economists are not Republicans or Democrats. Most economists are centrists. Both parties always swing us dramatically in the direction of extremes. This is why when you see one party in power for too long, our economy goes haywire.
The latest inflation rates are due to the errors of Trump and Biden with the stimulus checks. Again, the most significant factor of GDP is consumption. When everyone had all of this new cash, what did they do? They consumed at record rates 😮💨

Ridiculous! Do they not realize there are many countries that still heat their homes with coal? My wife's house in Poland is heated with coal. We haven't been there in a few years, but nothing has changed. It still uses coal.
The UK is abandoning coal next year and warned there will be power outages...
