ABS-CBN - Miss Universe: Post-Show (1994)

The ABS-CBN coverage of the 1994 Miss Universe pageant held in the Philippines. Other than a short clip of Charlene Gonzales saying the "high tide low tide" quip (to show the OSB), I did NOT include footage from the pageant.
This is mostly the post-show with Korina Sanchez, Ces Drilon, and Dyan Castillejo interviewing numerous guests. Johnny Litton also hosted the awarding ceremonies.

I was 10 y.o at that time. MU 1994 was like a national holiday talaga. Prior to the finals, ang daming TV specials ng ABS CBN for Miss Universe.

Dyan Castellejo is always the authority when it comes to the Miss Universe and Sports. And ABS-CBN was the home of the Miss Universe in 1994 and it became its official broadcaster which witnessed the rise of the Philippines as a powerhouse nation since 2010.

After 1994, ABS didn't pick up again the MU broadcast rights until 2007. The following edition (1995-1998) was broadcasted in the Philippines on ABC5, then RPN9 in 1999-2006 bago ibinalik sa ABS ang broadcast rights nito

Though she had a point, during that time, the no. of islands in the Philippines was 7,107. Today it's estimated at 7,641.
The pagaent's eventual winner India's Sushmita Sen would later become a judge in the 65th edition hosted by the Philippines for the third time which was won by Miss France

Yep! She even greeted the Filipinos when she was introduced as a judge because the 1994 candidates of MU were loved by Filipino people, especially her, Charlene, and Michelle.
She and Dayanara Torres were both judges that time!

Talagang kuntodo din pala coverage ng Miss U before. When we hosted MU once more nearly 9 years ago, after the coverage, diretsong news updates sa mga carrying networks and no more post-pageant stuffs.

Iba ang coverage ng ABS-CBN noon..bago pa ang arrival ng candidates ang dami ng ganap..ang pre-pageants panalo sa dami ng events...iba talaga ang ABS-CBN mag handle as media partner...unlike 2016 parang nadaan lang.

Charlene Gonzales was one of Angela Visser's favorite during the finals night to win Miss Universe 1994 along with Minorka Mercado and Lu Parker.

Also simulcast via CBS in US. Indonesia wasn’t allowed to join pageant due to religious beliefs. Three presenters when held in PH: Bob Barker (1974), this one is Bob Goen, & Steve Harvey (held in 2017 for 2016 pageant).
The pageant traditional in US always aired at night this is why the event in PH held live in morning to accommodate US home viewers to watch at night.
