I'm sorry I forgot her name, but she was one of the best translators Miss Universe ever had. In fact, that group she was in - her and the two men (the latino man from America, the other an Italian who stated the question to Miss Slovak Rep.) was the great group of MU translators. She stopped working with MU, I believe the latino man from America was still with MU in recent years.
Sushmita ( India )was the best answer, to get achievement money and carry out to the adventure , thinking in the children as an adventure in itself , she shown , how inteligent could be at the moment of give an answer
Please note that Carolina Gomez lived in the United States as an exchange student for a few years as a child. She studied her English there. But she is Colombian through and through.
Charlene represented the Philippines really well. She's gorgeous spontaneous and witty. And it was such heartfelt motion when you saw a proud mom amongst the crowd with a caption above her head- "that's my grown up little angel up there !!!"
The Spanish translator is what you call a translator and she didn't interrupt her unlike today translators always interrupting the contestants. Non stop from Miss Venezuela and the translator's really good.

She later lost her passport and the organizers decided to send Aishwarya in miss universe (Sushmita can still compete in Miss world in November by securing another passport). However Sushmita fought her right and said she won't compete in another contest other than Miss universe. And the rest is history...both Sushmita and Aishwarya won that Year in 1994

This was very difficult. However, I believe the judges nailed it. I for one, believe that Miss USA should have been considered in the top 5, maybe not 3, because her answer here was just a little misguided. However, I'm certain that she would have made up the slack of this answer in the final question segment.

Slovak Republic - 5 - Did not answer the question but rather shared her own POV. Philippines - 8.15 - She answered the question. I'm just not sure if Superwoman is a serious character. There are so much better characters that represent women. India - 8 - She started off slow but came around to answering the question. I'm not sure if it was the right answer but she answered it. Venezuela - 7 - Not sure if her answer got lost in translation but it really did not answer what the question was asking. USA - 6.50 - By her logic all children don't have goals for themselves and lack a family support system.

Judge Yap ruined Miss USA’s chances. She gave such a good answer but Yap didn’t give her a score this causing her average to be lower!! That person should be ashamed of himself!

The languages they study tend to be the languages of the countries neighbouring theirs, or the major languages in Europe. A lot of European countries have many borders and neighbouring countries.
