    I just installed the Castle creations bec with a Savox servo. I would have been tempted to in stall this bec, but I've have nothing but problems with Traxxas electronics.
    Cool video though, cheers!

      So far so good on the new traxxas stuff, they are stepping up their game and I like the direction they are going. Plus this bec is a no brainer, it went in super easy, only drawback to some of us who want to run a HV servo is it’s only 6v.

    Is just me or it feels a bit noisy the new servo?
    I've got the Castle BEC in my Summit with 2x SAVOX servos but connect it differently. More exactly the new BEC powers the servos directly and picks only the signal from the receiver. So the receiver keeps its bec for the smaller servos, lights, etc. This way I can provide enough power to the hungry servos but keep the receiver run cool! You can see my rig on my channel. My Traxxas Summit LT t's a scaled crawler converted at the moment...

  • @skirmich
    @skirmich 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason it didnt brown out on yours is because you lack the other 3 servos from the OG TRX4. The problem is the XL5 HV Internal BEC has a wimpy 1A output.... It gets overloaded when you add 4 freaking servos to it of course, So the External BEC is a must have for those with the OG TRX4 and are upgrading the steering servo.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True but if the servos are properly set with end points and all that, they shouldn't be under any load.

    • @skirmich
      @skirmich 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ExocagedRC The problem is the TQi TX does not have End Point Adjustments for channels 3 4 and 5 so those Sub-Micro servos are always hunting for end points… That is the reason they use a Servo Saver, They are designed to absorb any excessive movement from the servo at each end point.. Its a very stupid system because the TQi is hugely limited in adjustments in this regard.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure if you bypass the bec around the receiver you can power anything, if both the bec and esc are plugged into the receiver you usually have to remove the red wire from the esc plug into the receiver. If both the esc and bec are set at 6v I've had good luck with just leaving them in. You don't want the esc at 6v and the bec at 7v plugged into the same receiver.

      @Megasty15 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't being serious. It's great that they finally know their cars need better servos but paying $150 for it when you can get 6 similarly spec'd or 3 ridiculously spec'd servos for the same price. . . plus any bec I would use would have to be HV. I can't deal with servos crapping out after 20 mins of rocking when the batteries I use can last an hour.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      José Antonio Sánchez Vázquez oh ok you want to run a bec straight to the servo. For that leave the axe esc wires alone, power the bec up and get a servo wire bypass. That will allow you to send 7.4v to the servo and let the receiver run on 6v from the axe. Holmes Hobbies sells bypass adaptors to make it an easy job.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      José Antonio Sánchez Vázquez ok well unless you’re willing to do some cutting a soldering you’re stuck at 6v. That’s all the traxxas bec can do is 6v. It’s not adjustable. If you’re willing to cut and solder you could run the bec to power the receiver and bypass the esc set at 7.4v to the servo. That’s the only way you’re going to get it to work.

      You could use conformal coating on the board and basicly have any servo waterproofed. I put a little dab of silicone on the wire/case junction and had good luck with that.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because the bec gets power directly from the battery and it puts that power into the receiver at ch2, the plug swap is so the red wire from the esc can be disconnected inside the bec so its a simple plug and play setup. In most cases the red wire from the esc is removed from the plug when installing a bec into a receiver. Hope that helps
