Hey, so I don't even remember how I found you, years and years ago. I haven't been the most lotal viewer, and there have been times where I've seen a thumbnail and gone "oh she rebranded" or "oh she changed up her style" without clicking to catch up. But I could never unsubscribe from you. You're one of the smallest channels I follow and I was always cheering for you. When I saw your collab about a low cost year I went, "oh, she's into personal finance now, good for her". I never knew this was what you were saving for. I'm literally SO HAPPY FOR YOU, I don't think "congratulations" cuts it, but anyway: CONGRATULATIONS -- on getting seen and rewarded for years of work and dreams and fighting doubt. I'm in a similar situation, but just on the cusp of maybe finally realizing a lifelong dream that I gave up on ten years ago. So, from a longtime lurker: CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU for not giving up. You've got people rooting for you from all over, even if they're struggling Swedes who never comment :)

Me too, and I relate so much to feelings of not belonging and of wanting to inspire others like the lecturer who saved your life did (albeit in an entirely different field; science), but not feeling cut out for it. I got my PhD in literature last year -- you're going to smash this. You're already an excellent communicator, writer, researcher, editor, presenter. You have everything you need to succeed. Just take it one day at a time, keep writing ideas down, take time away from your desk to think, and remember you need to allow for headspace and rest. I'm excited for you!

Congratulations from the bottom of my heart! I wouldn't eather be PhD (average grades (during Batchelor even poor), average master's thesis(dispite having good results)) if my professor wouldn't have believed in me. He asked multiple times if I wanted to do PhD and I said "I don't know" multiple times. And finally he had interesting 3,5 years project with paid PhD student position. In that point, I finally felt that a) research was for me and b) I could do it. I defended my doctoral thesis last fall. And even though, I desided to leave university after PhD (mainly because applying short term fundings for years as post doc was not for me. I loved teaching, I loved research. But today's highly competive side of academia is not for me.) I still am very grateful to my professor that he took me under his wings and let me do PhD.

Congratulations Cinzia! I am a newish subscriber, but your passion and knowledge and authenticity just leaps through every video - no denying that. All of those things will serve you well in your PhD journey, and I wish you all the best. I also know the importance of education in my family - my parents immigrated to Canada when they were barely 20 to pursue a better life - I am the third in my family to go to university and have a degree. As someone who is struggling SO MUCH to rise up in academia (English literature, doing my master's atm) in a developing country in which such a major is so looked down upon by people, and in which there's so much elitism inside the department itself (professors having done their graduate studies in the UK and US back in the 90s and before when scholarships were so easy to get) I feel SO small and so defeated already, like I am never going to be able to do my PhD (which has been my dream since forever). I am SO happy for you, Cinzia! Your tears have made me cry torrents of happiness for you and courage for myself

Congratulations, from the bottom of my heart. It's your own courage, determination and persistence that has earned you this. You are so deserving of this opportunity. And thank you for sharing this reaction with us - it is heartwarming in the extreme, and honestly it fills me with hope. As someone who also lost out on my chance to do my PhD in 2015 (I had a place offered to me at the University of York, but I lost out on the funding - no love out there for Old English poetry, apparently), this resonates so strongly. Losing out on that chance broke me: I also didn't have any other dream other than doing my PhD. I really lost my sense of self and my confidence. It sent me into a massive depressive spiral that resulted in me engaging in some very uncharacteristic and self-destructive behaviour. Eventually I got my shit together and trained as an English teacher, but that didn't cut it either. I'm now actually applying to do a second MA, hoping that this will bring my confidence up enough again to apply to do a PhD. I hope that in a few years time I will be able to join you in that joyous feeling of embarking on a lifelong dream!

This was one of the most life affirming TH-cam videos I've ever watched.This is what life is about...following your dreams, doing the things in life that give you great joy and make you feel your truest self. We should never listen when people tell us we can't do something. You are a true academic...I find it hard to believe you didn't think you were one!! Its because when you say things I really listen and I take your advice. You know how to put thoughts into the right words and you can express yourself with incredible eloquence. You've inspired me to get on a follow my dream too which I'm trying to do right now. Congratulations. You really really deserve it. And I loved your teary face and running make up...That's true honesty and raw emotion which isn't something you see on TH-cam much. X
