I grew up watching usa tv shows like in the heat of the night and the original quantum leap. I also watched cold case. The world is so deranged now that the subject matters covered would be classified as "opposite of sleep" now. Hence, the new quantum leap getting canceled. I can see why [former] fans of the show wouldn't want to see "race stuff/injustices" today, given the [political] climate. I watch australian tv show miss fisher's murder mysteries (1920s), canadian frankie drake (1920s), and uk's miss scarlet and the duke (1880s victorian london), and usa audiences would call a tv show about a 1920s white, female pinkerton detective series "woke." It wouldn't get made. I've read biographies on malcolm x and have seen real pix of malcolm as the the only child of colour in 1930s class pictures. However, If usa did approve a roaring 20s, capone era, depression era detective series and showed a person of colour or woman, in certain settings, it'd be labeled a "box tick" and "historically inaccurate." Though the real events and innovators disproves these notions. I understand how rebooting cold case would be too controversial, in today's society.
