Ratings are based on whether or not theyll see play. Whether or not theyll see play is based on if they can compete with top tier decks. Top tier decks are pictured to be control warrior and quest shaman.

Majority of cards don't see constructed play unless they get proper support. I respect Trump's ratings for having the balls for calling weak (or yet unsupported) cards weak.
I agree. People compare him to other streamers and claim that they get more correct ratings, but those streamers only give really safe ratings, rating half of the expansion 3 stars or "it could be good or maybe not", it's easy to not be wrong when you don't make any claims in the first place

Although i don't agree with Trump on priest, he may be right, and it wouldn't be interesting or of value if Trump just said around the same thing as everyone else did, he is allowed to have his own judgdement. Therefore pushing a lot of them to 2 stars.
Priest is the most jankiest of all classes, even with these super powered cards they get this expansion it’s really not difficult to see them not working out simply because Priest’s earlier cards are so situational

Sure, but now the combo is 7 cards and requires the other player not having taunt. You'd probably have to empty your deck entirely and you don't survive that long in this meta; additionally, if your deck is empty, just play mecha'thun
@@ph270able I was putting this as a testament to Trump that Stormwind Knight and Amet is not the deal. You could potentially have only one boar used, totaling 28 dmg, but I myself, if I find playing priest, would rather feel better with Amet being a powerplay, rather than a combo piece.
A lot of lifesteal cards , especially the ones that see play are solid cards without lifesteal. For example look at zilliax without lifesteal it's a lot weaker yes but it's still extremely good stat wise.
Ok, so I feel like I might be blindly walking into a real trap here, but fuck it - I've kept quiet about this for like 2 years now. Did I miss something? Why do half the people in the comments section of all of Trump's videos just vehemently deny everything he says? It doesn't seem like it's normal criticism as well, the way people mock all of his points without making any counterpoints of their own, it seems a lot more like mob mentality hate kind of 'criticism'. I'm not gonna say Trump is right all of the time, but being fair to him, he does his research. He theorycrafts, he looks at the potential upcoming meta, and rather than just looking at the objective quality of a card he assesses whether the benefits are actually relevant to the needs of successful decks. That's a lot more than the average person is gonna do, so I'd call his ratings respectable, yet I don't see much respect for his opinions in any of the comments on any of his videos. I always thought it was kind of joke because Trump was *so* wrong about the Gadgetzan meta _( _*_SKIP THIS PART IF YOU ALREADY KNOW ABOUT TRUMP'S GADGETZAN RATINGS_*_ for newer players who don't know, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan was the set arguably the most over-powered card in the game, Patches the Pirate, came out. Most of the cards in the set supported midrange or control decks, but just because Patches and another strong 1-drop pirate were printed that set which was a 1 1/2 that became a 3/2 while you had a weapon equiped, Pirate Warrior became the top deck of the set and probably the strongest aggro deck Hearthstone has ever seen. As far as I saw, no-one really predicted this would happen [I could be wrong on that], but Trump was mocked because due to the abundance of midrange/control cards he was quoted saying "I don't think this is going to be a very aggressive meta, in fact, _*_I can't think of a single aggressive card that's coming out in this set."_*_ or something along those lines...),_ but if this is just people takong a jab at him for that, why are they still doing it like what? nearly 3 years on?
People have been giving me shit ever since I said zoo, as a meta defining deck for priest, is not a good idea. Blizzard has to stop fucking Jaina, and get on my boy Anduin, cause' it's time for priest to be one of the good classes again.
Just a small thing I didn't realize when I first saw the card...The obelisk's eye will both restore 3 health to a minion if it is damaged AND give it +3/+3. It doesn't make a huge difference but it does make it a little better
I dont think zoo priest is the way. I see the obelist deck as more of a midrange deck, since it has pretty heavy cards and the payoff is honestly huge.
Well, found the sleeper of the set. Tip the scales + prismatic lens with nomi, zephyrs and Finley post-tip is juuuuust consistent enough and backbreaking enough to make it very scary. Tip the scales - 4-5 stars.
That’s still a dead card in hand, and if you play northshire on 1 and can heal it on 2 that also stalls out the quest and even reduces the chance you had northshire in the first place
Maybe you can mulligan it too. 15 healing is hard to achieve until you realize that it's just situational, because in certain points of the game you can pretty feasibly restore 15 health in a single turn with cards such as with Divine Hymn, Circle of Healing, maybe even Omega Medic. I'm just thinking of ideas instead of writing it off.
We'll have to wait for the meta to settle a bit but I just wanted to chime in and say that I did manage a 12 win 1 loss run with Quest Priest in the Brawliseum. Only 1 loss to a druid where I just had a very unlucky draw and one very close game with a hunter that came down to the wire but other than that, I kind of walked through every other game with easy wins.
Trump is yhe best reviewer channel in hearthstone for me. While kripp the best salty HS player XD and kibler the fun HS player. All this guy have their own interests

The priest legendary was made with Combo Priest in mind. Just play low cost minions with it, they all get 7 HP, like that you have several targets that your opponent needs to remove, or you will smack them in the face next turn with 28 damage, or more.

He does this every time a new expansion is coming out. That’s because 90% of the custom cards are ones for the expansion, and it’s impossible to properly rate them until we get an idea on how the expansion’s meta is like. They’ll be back in spades in a couple of weeks.
I can see the reasoning behind all the ratings. It's sad to see Paladin getting all these wacky cards, while gaining next to no support for either Aggro or Control (rip Divine Favor/Equality). Same with Priest getting no card draw (I cannot understand why the class whose hero power screams Control has so little card draw). I can't agree with the 1-star rating on Bazaar Mugger tho. Not only does that card replace itself through the battlecry, but it also gives Rogue a comeback mechanism.
One note in favor of Amet, you can play two boars with him and double up on damage. 56 is a lot better than 28 and might kill some warriors. It's a lot to draw though
Control priest values over time with the quest completion, good minions and Nomi, Catrina Muerte, and even Archivist. Very efficient healing can be compared to armor.
pharaoh's blessing is way better than dinosize. you have to dinosize a 1/1 or something small to make it 8 mana +9/+9 which is still bad for the cost. the board state is rarely set up so that a vanilla 10/10 is good unless you're pushing lethal, and 8 mana cards in a mid-range deck need to be super impactful. pharaoh's blessing is rarely better than steed, but the things it does are way more valuable than the things dinosize does at 2 less mana.
The difference between otking with Amet and otking with Storming Knight is the fact that with Amet you can play double divine spirit double boar double topsy for 56 damage.
I hope there will be tempo oriented meta now. I want my scheme tesspionage to continue to work. EZ wins vs warriors, midrange hunters, 50/50 vs aggro & mech hunters and 70/30 vs other rogues. Big issue is mage, that is just insane value. Other thing is paladin. The rest of the matchups are pretty OK to beat.
Control priests win condition: Leeroy Jenkins, Embalming Ritual, Embalming Ritual, hit face for 6, Wretched Reclaimer on Leeroy, attack with 3 more Leeroy Jenkins for a total of 24 damage, dealing 6 damage to face prior to this should be possible even for control priest
khidir kokori maybe they will finish One of the paladin archetypes instead of printing a small amount of murloc, dragon, one attack, and one health synergy
I think the quest priest deck would be more like current mech paladin. You rope a dope your opponent. You don't need a fast zoo start if your plan already involves absorbing a bunch of damage.
Meanwhile me and most people who have been playing on and off since launch get to add a few cards to our wild decks for low cost. Giving a piloted shredder reborn for example could be good
Dog made Ankha Rogue work by just having her as the lowest cost card with Witchwood Pipers, which worked very well. Granted, pre-release isn't much to go by, but he pretty much never lost.
So what about Wall Priest? I remember that being a thing early in the Rise of Shadows but dropped off because Control Warrior. That said, Psychopomp is damn good for any revive styled deck, Reviving a Archmage Vargoth with it stacks the graveyard with copies of Vargoth to rez with Mass Rez, Holy Ripple, Penance, and Plague of Death gives the Priest some better control tools, and Grave Horror is still a potentially free 7/8 with taunt. Maybe there could be a degenerate combo deck where the Priest keeps resurrecting the 0/5 Oblisks that randomly blasts targets for 5, keeping the board by using Embalming Ritual as a auto rez.
Adding power word shield to amet makes it a 6 card combo instead of 5, being infinitely worse. The amet combo and the storm wind combo are both 5 cards for the 28 damage.
I almost can't believe how down Trump is on priest. A lot of these cards are amazing, and someone will make a playable deck out of at least some of them.
I think you are really underestimating the Anka Mecha'Thun deck. You put in the Quest, you put in the card generators and you are set for having tempo and value at the same time. And you dont have to fear getting outvalued by the strong control decks such as control Warrior in the end game cus you just draw a bunch of cards till your deck is empty, you throw all of your drawn cards from other classes at your enemy, some of which may even be strong deathrattle minions which are 1 mana 1/1s, then you whip out your 1 mana Mecha'Thun backstab it and win the game. Sometimes you might even be able to cheat it out way earlier with Myras unstable Element.
To be fair, who could've predicted the Prismatic Lens/Tip the scales wombo combo ALONG with using two singleton synergies in a Murloc deck of all things
Current meta maybe, but Plague Of Death clearly isn't too slow just measuring by its effect for its cost given that Twisting Nether regularly finds it way into decks.
lolroco I like a "revolving door" priest myself. A faster, lighter wall with cheaper stuff and Spirit of the Dead to add length to the deck. With the quest it's gonna be Tier 2, no question.
High priest Amet otk can actually get you 56 potential damage. You dont need Power word shield at all, just two boars and two topsy turveys plus the amet with divine spirit. Threatening 56 otk dmg makes it worthwhile imo
nyseK 1 star defile was actually the right rating after frozen throne. It was only after the nerfs that cubelock started gaining the popularity and dominance needed to become a tier 1 deck.
I agree with Trump's rating of priest mostly. I think Amat is just good enough though to support priest on his back. I feel if Otk doesn't work out (which makes sense considering we have deck's which go into 30 armour) he'll just be run in a normal topsy turvy priest deck and used to set up board with a bunch of high health minions so you can finish them next turn. (Also the main reason Amat is better tha stormwind champion and power word shield the Amat is because Amat requires one card to pull that combo instead of two and he deals more damage overall).
We used to use the word package to refer to groups of things when I started in sales a decade ago to entice stupid people into thinking something was more valuable than it really was. Now I hear streamers use it to refer to literally any random group of cards you want. "1 health minion package", "zoo package", etc and it makes me sad for how desperate they are to make this dying game sound more exciting than it is. Especially hearing it 30+ times in one video.
No I think trump you are wrong, the high priest OTK have a maxim OTK damage of 56 if you play two boar and two topsy, that’s a win condition for control priest. And priest have a amazing card draw with wild pyromancer and 0 cost card.

I reaaaaally disagree with most of the priest ratings. Trump is woefully underrating zoo priest, from the quest to the 3 3/3 reincarnate with the 1/2 reborn. Also the reason people consider running Amet and not stormwind knight is because amet is playable as a card on its own, meaning you don't have to use the OTK in a game where it won't be needed. It's not all about the OTK potential, it's the fact that amet is versatile.
Lol so how exactly is zoo priest going to beat out token druid and zoo warlock which are waaay ahead of the curve when it wastes its turn 1 playing a quest ? And even if it does play a turn 1 minion how exactly is a hero power that relies on having minions be damaged work in a zoo deck. There are just so many problems with a zoo priest deck that people don't realize. I remember zoo was being hyped up with that 3 mana destroy mana crystals give your minions +3/3 too and that card saw 0 play even though lots of people rated it 4/5 stars.
@@shaolinfang3520Firstly the spell you're referencing was a 3 mana spell, not a 1 mana quest. Second, the quest is much more active and active faster than surrender to madness, given that all you need to do to activate it is heal minions. And three, priest can easily achieve the quest by including cards like circle of healing (which sees play in minion based priest decks as well as standard control), and cards within the set like the 2 mana 3 damage/lifesteal spell and the neferset ritualist - a card within the set that's extremely powerful yet no one seems to remember for some reason. Being able to actively heal and buff minons you've placed on the board is something that other decks simply cant do. As to how it beats token druid and zoo warlock, you have the 2 mana slightly weaker holy nova which stomps all over token druid, and simply having larger minions than zoo warlock will give you the edge out to trade with them. Zoo priest will be a skill intensive deck, but that by no means makes it a bad deck. It will at least be tier two.

Why does everyone think sir Finley of the sands is an aggro card? I think there is a good chance that a control deck can pretty easily come out of paladin using Finley and a couple of the fetch cards
Yeah, I agree. That is why I don't like this new system of reviewing that much. By putting cards into a single bucket/group, you lose a lot of nuance which shows in the review.
Wait, why does Psychopomp have to be in the zoo package? I remember Trump reviewing Psychopomp as good even if it summons itself, because you get a Scarlet Crusader plus a 1-mana 3/1. But if it summons anything bigger, it’s just instantly better. I feel bad for all the players who are going to continue playing their favorite Priest deck in this expansion but won’t know which new cards they should sub in because everything is rated on how good its Blizzard-intended deck is at rank 1 legend instead of how far it can help you climb in this ranked season.
Still think priest will be killing it this expansion because of the combo potential between Spirit of the dead and reborn minions. Not that impactful like Rogue (Boo) or Shamans (Woo!) But still! It is a deck idea I will try and build!

Ok, so I feel like I might be blindly walking into a real trap here, but fuck it - I've kept quiet about this for like 2 years now. Did I miss something? Why do half the people in the comments section of all of Trump's videos just vehemently deny everything he says? It doesn't seem like it's normal criticism as well, the way people mock all of his points without making any counterpoints of their own, it seems a lot more like mob mentality hate kind of 'criticism'.
I'm not gonna say Trump is right all of the time, but being fair to him, he does his research. He theorycrafts, he looks at the potential upcoming meta, and rather than just looking at the objective quality of a card he assesses whether the benefits are actually relevant to the needs of successful decks. That's a lot more than the average person is gonna do, so I'd call his ratings respectable, yet I don't see much respect for his opinions in any of the comments on any of his videos.
I always thought it was kind of joke because Trump was *so* wrong about the Gadgetzan meta _( _*_SKIP THIS PART IF YOU ALREADY KNOW ABOUT TRUMP'S GADGETZAN RATINGS_*_ for newer players who don't know, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan was the set arguably the most over-powered card in the game, Patches the Pirate, came out. Most of the cards in the set supported midrange or control decks, but just because Patches and another strong 1-drop pirate were printed that set which was a 1 1/2 that became a 3/2 while you had a weapon equiped, Pirate Warrior became the top deck of the set and probably the strongest aggro deck Hearthstone has ever seen. As far as I saw, no-one really predicted this would happen [I could be wrong on that], but Trump was mocked because due to the abundance of midrange/control cards he was quoted saying "I don't think this is going to be a very aggressive meta, in fact, _*_I can't think of a single aggressive card that's coming out in this set."_*_ or something along those lines...),_ but if this is just people takong a jab at him for that, why are they still doing it like what? nearly 3 years on?

People have been giving me shit ever since I said zoo, as a meta defining deck for priest, is not a good idea. Blizzard has to stop fucking Jaina, and get on my boy Anduin, cause' it's time for priest to be one of the good classes again.
Just a small thing I didn't realize when I first saw the card...The obelisk's eye will both restore 3 health to a minion if it is damaged AND give it +3/+3. It doesn't make a huge difference but it does make it a little better
I dont think zoo priest is the way. I see the obelist deck as more of a midrange deck, since it has pretty heavy cards and the payoff is honestly huge.

Well, found the sleeper of the set. Tip the scales + prismatic lens with nomi, zephyrs and Finley post-tip is juuuuust consistent enough and backbreaking enough to make it very scary. Tip the scales - 4-5 stars.

Wait trump, the priest quest is not necessarily to be played on turn 1, just play with the turn you are healing stuff and one mana is really flexible
That’s still a dead card in hand, and if you play northshire on 1 and can heal it on 2 that also stalls out the quest and even reduces the chance you had northshire in the first place

Maybe you can mulligan it too. 15 healing is hard to achieve until you realize that it's just situational, because in certain points of the game you can pretty feasibly restore 15 health in a single turn with cards such as with Divine Hymn, Circle of Healing, maybe even Omega Medic.
I'm just thinking of ideas instead of writing it off.

We'll have to wait for the meta to settle a bit but I just wanted to chime in and say that I did manage a 12 win 1 loss run with Quest Priest in the Brawliseum. Only 1 loss to a druid where I just had a very unlucky draw and one very close game with a hunter that came down to the wire but other than that, I kind of walked through every other game with easy wins.
Trump is yhe best reviewer channel in hearthstone for me. While kripp the best salty HS player XD and kibler the fun HS player. All this guy have their own interests

The priest legendary was made with Combo Priest in mind. Just play low cost minions with it, they all get 7 HP, like that you have several targets that your opponent needs to remove, or you will smack them in the face next turn with 28 damage, or more.

He does this every time a new expansion is coming out. That’s because 90% of the custom cards are ones for the expansion, and it’s impossible to properly rate them until we get an idea on how the expansion’s meta is like. They’ll be back in spades in a couple of weeks.
Video suggestion: do a review of the Classic and Basic Sets. Should be fun in light of Kibler's ongoing suggestion of having a rotating classic set.
I can see the reasoning behind all the ratings. It's sad to see Paladin getting all these wacky cards, while gaining next to no support for either Aggro or Control (rip Divine Favor/Equality). Same with Priest getting no card draw (I cannot understand why the class whose hero power screams Control has so little card draw).
I can't agree with the 1-star rating on Bazaar Mugger tho. Not only does that card replace itself through the battlecry, but it also gives Rogue a comeback mechanism.
One note in favor of Amet, you can play two boars with him and double up on damage. 56 is a lot better than 28 and might kill some warriors. It's a lot to draw though
Control priest values over time with the quest completion, good minions and Nomi, Catrina Muerte, and even Archivist. Very efficient healing can be compared to armor.
Vuoripeikko i beg to differ with the armor vs healing part. Not even my 53/53 pogo hopper didnt finish control warrior off(spirit of the shark op)
Armor is worlds better than healing. Even armor generating cards are worlds, universes better.
pharaoh's blessing is way better than dinosize. you have to dinosize a 1/1 or something small to make it 8 mana +9/+9 which is still bad for the cost. the board state is rarely set up so that a vanilla 10/10 is good unless you're pushing lethal, and 8 mana cards in a mid-range deck need to be super impactful. pharaoh's blessing is rarely better than steed, but the things it does are way more valuable than the things dinosize does at 2 less mana.
I fail to understand where the paladin archetype is headed... It seems that even blizzard is unable to find the right direction..

The difference between otking with Amet and otking with Storming Knight is the fact that with Amet you can play double divine spirit double boar double topsy for 56 damage.

I hope there will be tempo oriented meta now. I want my scheme tesspionage to continue to work. EZ wins vs warriors, midrange hunters, 50/50 vs aggro & mech hunters and 70/30 vs other rogues.
Big issue is mage, that is just insane value. Other thing is paladin. The rest of the matchups are pretty OK to beat.
When Activate The Obelisk quest was first shown, I immediately said that this card was UTTER GARBAGE but I got ran over by others online.
The card as a card alone is good but has not enought support cards to make a whole deck which makes it garbage for now.

I think the quest priest deck would be more like current mech paladin. You rope a dope your opponent. You don't need a fast zoo start if your plan already involves absorbing a bunch of damage.

Control priest with catrina and mass rez, psyco pomp. Can run quest with it or combo
Dog made Ankha Rogue work by just having her as the lowest cost card with Witchwood Pipers, which worked very well. Granted, pre-release isn't much to go by, but he pretty much never lost.
I can't wait for the review of the expansion for him to say "Wow, I totally underrated these cards."
He said himself that he would love to be wrong about these cards.
So what about Wall Priest? I remember that being a thing early in the Rise of Shadows but dropped off because Control Warrior. That said, Psychopomp is damn good for any revive styled deck, Reviving a Archmage Vargoth with it stacks the graveyard with copies of Vargoth to rez with Mass Rez, Holy Ripple, Penance, and Plague of Death gives the Priest some better control tools, and Grave Horror is still a potentially free 7/8 with taunt.
Maybe there could be a degenerate combo deck where the Priest keeps resurrecting the 0/5 Oblisks that randomly blasts targets for 5, keeping the board by using Embalming Ritual as a auto rez.

Adding power word shield to amet makes it a 6 card combo instead of 5, being infinitely worse.
The amet combo and the storm wind combo are both 5 cards for the 28 damage.

I almost can't believe how down Trump is on priest. A lot of these cards are amazing, and someone will make a playable deck out of at least some of them.

I think you are really underestimating the Anka Mecha'Thun deck. You put in the Quest, you put in the card generators and you are set for having tempo and value at the same time. And you dont have to fear getting outvalued by the strong control decks such as control Warrior in the end game cus you just draw a bunch of cards till your deck is empty, you throw all of your drawn cards from other classes at your enemy, some of which may even be strong deathrattle minions which are 1 mana 1/1s, then you whip out your 1 mana Mecha'Thun backstab it and win the game. Sometimes you might even be able to cheat it out way earlier with Myras unstable Element.
From these ratings i can conclude that Priest is going to be so OP that Blizzard will delete the class in the first week of the expansion.

lolroco I like a "revolving door" priest myself. A faster, lighter wall with cheaper stuff and Spirit of the Dead to add length to the deck. With the quest it's gonna be Tier 2, no question.

High priest Amet otk can actually get you 56 potential damage. You dont need Power word shield at all, just two boars and two topsy turveys plus the amet with divine spirit. Threatening 56 otk dmg makes it worthwhile imo

I agree with Trump's rating of priest mostly. I think Amat is just good enough though to support priest on his back. I feel if Otk doesn't work out (which makes sense considering we have deck's which go into 30 armour) he'll just be run in a normal topsy turvy priest deck and used to set up board with a bunch of high health minions so you can finish them next turn. (Also the main reason Amat is better tha stormwind champion and power word shield the Amat is because Amat requires one card to pull that combo instead of two and he deals more damage overall).

We used to use the word package to refer to groups of things when I started in sales a decade ago to entice stupid people into thinking something was more valuable than it really was. Now I hear streamers use it to refer to literally any random group of cards you want. "1 health minion package", "zoo package", etc and it makes me sad for how desperate they are to make this dying game sound more exciting than it is. Especially hearing it 30+ times in one video.

I reaaaaally disagree with most of the priest ratings. Trump is woefully underrating zoo priest, from the quest to the 3 3/3 reincarnate with the 1/2 reborn.
Also the reason people consider running Amet and not stormwind knight is because amet is playable as a card on its own, meaning you don't have to use the OTK in a game where it won't be needed. It's not all about the OTK potential, it's the fact that amet is versatile.
Lol so how exactly is zoo priest going to beat out token druid and zoo warlock which are waaay ahead of the curve when it wastes its turn 1 playing a quest ? And even if it does play a turn 1 minion how exactly is a hero power that relies on having minions be damaged work in a zoo deck. There are just so many problems with a zoo priest deck that people don't realize. I remember zoo was being hyped up with that 3 mana destroy mana crystals give your minions +3/3 too and that card saw 0 play even though lots of people rated it 4/5 stars.
@@shaolinfang3520Firstly the spell you're referencing was a 3 mana spell, not a 1 mana quest. Second, the quest is much more active and active faster than surrender to madness, given that all you need to do to activate it is heal minions. And three, priest can easily achieve the quest by including cards like circle of healing (which sees play in minion based priest decks as well as standard control), and cards within the set like the 2 mana 3 damage/lifesteal spell and the neferset ritualist - a card within the set that's extremely powerful yet no one seems to remember for some reason. Being able to actively heal and buff minons you've placed on the board is something that other decks simply cant do. As to how it beats token druid and zoo warlock, you have the 2 mana slightly weaker holy nova which stomps all over token druid, and simply having larger minions than zoo warlock will give you the edge out to trade with them. Zoo priest will be a skill intensive deck, but that by no means makes it a bad deck. It will at least be tier two.

Why does everyone think sir Finley of the sands is an aggro card? I think there is a good chance that a control deck can pretty easily come out of paladin using Finley and a couple of the fetch cards

Yeah, I agree. That is why I don't like this new system of reviewing that much. By putting cards into a single bucket/group, you lose a lot of nuance which shows in the review.

Wait, why does Psychopomp have to be in the zoo package? I remember Trump reviewing Psychopomp as good even if it summons itself, because you get a Scarlet Crusader plus a 1-mana 3/1. But if it summons anything bigger, it’s just instantly better. I feel bad for all the players who are going to continue playing their favorite Priest deck in this expansion but won’t know which new cards they should sub in because everything is rated on how good its Blizzard-intended deck is at rank 1 legend instead of how far it can help you climb in this ranked season.
