Likewise, I had this on tape. It was a great doco - good to see the boys chattin' together. My fave bit: John's tall archaeologist reaction to Terry's "I've had more woman than either of you two!"
For ten seconds from 1:56, Chevy Chase encapsulates his entire career - starts off promising and amusing, milks it for a bit and then runs the joke dry.
@ThePythonfan They didn't split up outta anger. They just figured the show had run its course and wanted to go on to do different things. They were always friends.
@Nogger86Germany Yes I thought so too!That's why I thought it was nice to see them so close. And no problem. I didn't clarify what I wanted to say in the 1st place... :D
@Nogger86Germany Oh now I see what you meant!Well considering the fact they hadn't seen each other (formaly at least) for a few years it's a sweet hug of two friends that hadn;'t seen each other for long and missed one another.And from what I understand from all the Pythons' interviews is that they don't miss each other much.It's nice to see it's not true.They're friends above all.Well bottom line is I thought it was cute,sweet or whatever you want to call it.Maby amazing wasn't the right word
This is clearly the Americanized Version of a BBC 1989 TV Show called "monty python 1989 memorial to graham chapman full TV show" which is viewable here on TH-cam..... The interviewer is well known in the UK but was certainly not at all known in America to be shown on American TV. Some Famous British Comedians who were interviewed for it are also left out here cos they weren't known in America back then, although some are now, particularly Stephen Fry. Also this version leaves out the Clips of Graham Chapman's Memorial.
Monty Python's comedy was first and foremost mocking the conventional, stiffling, structured construct that was and is English society. If you look at such sketches as "Upper Class twit of the Year" there is a contempt for certain strata of society. Secondly, Python was a satire of comedy-it was satire of comedic forms both in terms of television and humor itself. Mixed with the stream of consciousness of Gilliam's animation and you have a classic.
@ThePythonfan Oh, okay i get it;) No, you're right, that is in fact cute. I almost thought they had lost contact to each other or whatever since you considered, it was not normal to hug each other. But all settled know. Thanks.
Creo que esto se corresponde con los veinte años de la creación de los Python. 1989. Por esos días Graham Chapman ya estaba muy enfermo. Murió ese mismo año.
If you thought the Chevy Chase show was good, your opinion on comedy is irrelevant. I just googled "enjoyed the chevy chase show" in quotes. Two results. One of the was a joke about how bad the Jimmy Kimmel show was when it first aired.
@erictheangrypenguin Chapman was, as Cleese said, an adorer of Bad Taste so I think he'd enjoy these Comments. Not that I'm putting down your Comments, just saying that overly sensitive People would get all their Knickers in a Twist, but they are what he would like, I think so anyway. I was going to say he was "unwell after using a Dirty Fork"!
WOW that Mike and Eric hug is amazing!

Loved the opening title portion of the video. Great joke!

@ThePythonfan
yes, i know But why is that amazing? Were the two in some sort of a fight or something?
And how about that full minute of dancing? Comedy gold, right? I don't think ANYONE wouldn't be entertained by that.
He's getting better

He wasn't in the 30th anniversary, though.
It's the Australian broadcast version.

Wha is that?
Then why was the Chevy Chase show so bad?
1999, not 89.
Benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python by two TV stations!
@spittingimage4005 Pushing up the daisy's
@ImaginaryNightshade Oh come on now, im sure he gets better from that! I had a case of "Death" about a month ago and i got better.
