Hey Jason, great video but $700 isn't really budget for most people, could you do another video on true budget cameras under $300 perhaps, maybe try to search the used market and document ur journey in finding a used camera under $300. Thanks!
ZV-E10 MK I is a no brainer at that price. it shoot a great video if you have a steady hand, and it takes great photos that still looks sharp even when you crop in!
Very nice getting confirmation that I bought, almost, the right things as a beginner. I started a few months ago and I have the a6000 and the 30mm prime 1.4, so almost the same. The combo rocks.
same, I had the a6000 for a while but with kit lens. then i bought the sigma lens. SO much better than my samsung A54, which i will no longer depend on with pics.
The A6100 was my first camera ever. It really was the perfect budget camera to start out with! only reason I upgraded was for the picture profiles in full frame and newer cameras
I just started out this year with a NEX-6 and no idea if I would enjoy photography. Despite my desire, after taking it out a few times, all my shots were 'blah.' But then I took it with me a GT3 auto race with a rental lens and was suddenly was hooked. Now I want the fastest, latest, greatest Sony camera on the market and to quit my job to do motorsport photography even though out of 100s of photos only a handful were keepers (due to my general inexperience and a fast moving subject)!
It so good to see this videos for beginners. I just bought recently a Sony a6700 with a Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS lens and this video gave me the courage to start making those videos that I bought this camera for. Thank you!!!
These cameras are good for learning purpose. I have Sony a6400 and with the Tamron 17-70mm it gives almost perfect results that I wanted . Still learning to shoot with slog but grading 8bit is just hard. My advice would be if you have the budget , just go for a 10bit camera it will make your life way easier.
Even though I bought the Sony A6700 last year, my old a5100 remains my most used camera. I don't do video so the 1080p limit is no issue, and it's so much smaller than even the A6100, it's the best everyday carry ever. I wish Sony would release the A5700. Same ultra small body, 26mp sensor (or the 40mp one they sell to Fuji), no EVF (but a built in flash), no IBIS (because not everybody does video), with updated autofocus / color profiles, all for less than $1000. 🤩
in my country here, a6100 is discontinue and 0 stock brand new, and somewhat less used. while the a6000 you can still find unopen box, brand new, used easily. the other budget choice will be the zv-e10. but personally i will recommend a6000/6100 for that extra viewfinder.
I stretched my budget for 1000$ and contemplated between older full frame and all the brands of apsc. You'll never get good results a high end camera with a not good lens. So factoring in the lens not just a camera body. I wound up with a used a6400 with the Sony 18-135 lens which is great and just recently got the tamron 17-70. fantastic camera for the budget. And if you look at rtings the a6400 has some of the highest dynamic range and sharpness of the apsc lineup i.e compare to the canon r7 for the price. I only shoot in raw and I process in Lightroom so to me the a6400 is just a no brainer.
In my place a brand new a6100 cost $600 roughly where as the a6600 comes at $700 roughly (during sale and offers). I myself wanted to get the a6100/6400 but when I saw the price the a6600 was a no brainer. All of these prices are body only, and personally I do think that IBIS in a6600 brings in a huge difference, allowing you to use manual lenses.
@@archan_ghosh yup, that is one pricey body but the ibis is damn good... With tamron 17-70 mm that also have lens stabilization it might go even lower, even with a6400 that lens can go as low as 1/40 handheld, 1/20 while sitting...
Jason, you forgot to mention the crop factor that is inherent for APS-C cameras when used with full frame lenses. That 35 mm will never give you that '35mm' look like you were saying. It is a 52,5 mm on these cameras. You need about a 24mm lens on an APS-C camera to get that '35mm' FF look.
@@JasonVong Wanted to point out the same thing but I give you that that it makes sense to keep it simple here. Nevertheless wouldn't it be a better option to look into something like the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 for the 35mm look?
Still loving the ZVE-10 after two years. With the pancake ttartisans 27mm 2.8 it is tiny, light, sharp & cheap, if you don’t mind vignetting on the wide apertures. I use some nice full frame glass on it in the video studio.
A7iii is getting cheaper and cheaper, got mine new for $850 which is a deal here in Mexico. A7iii is just so superior to many cameras and does everything
I say getting a used a6500 over new a6100 is much more worth it for photography. And as for video camea the fuji xm5 is also great option . Its kinda unfortunate that there is not real budget option for a hybrid setup 😢.
Honestly the best option for a beginner on a reasonable budget is the A6100/ZV-E10 with Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. I don't think there's a better option than that.
I like the Sony A7c (original)...only thing I dislike is the side flip screen...I don't use my film cameras for video...Cell phones are good enough...The Sony cameras are for my street photography here in Bangkok.

I think for someone starting out, not having S-LOG is not a huge deal unless they really wanted to get into color grading. In that case, I wouldn't recommend either of these and suggest a6700 straight away for 10-Bit.
@ with my a6400 i can use s-log and create stunning videos with color grading that doesn’t have banding, even if there is not banding youtube will compress the video anyway
a6400 is slightly better than the a6100. It has picture profiles. Other than that, the slight differences from the ZV-E10 mentioned in this video are the same
Ive had an a6400 for about 2 years and somethings wrong with the shutter, when I go to take photos it'll double shutter and make an error. I've committed to photography and love it a lot so I think I'm going to save my money and upgrade. But I don't know if I want to upgrade to an a6700 or go full frame with the a7iii. I do car/motorsports photography and toy/miniature photography for the most part. Any recommendation on either?
It has a much much smaller sensor so it won't have the same amount of dynamic range these cameras does. However, it's still a fantastic pocket camera that will do just fine in daytime and in areas with lots of lights! For low light, bring a tripod!
Sir i am your follower from india sir i wanted to buy a full frame i am getting nikon z5 for 910 usd and a7c mark 1 at 1365 usd please suggest me sir 😢
It's not a thing. People who chase gear render older cameras obsolete because the AF systems in the new ones, as well as some technical settings like video bitrate/formats/profiles, are getting better. But realistically for casual use, even a 2010 camera today would fare insanely well. In fact, it would fare better for photography than both of the cameras from this video, for half the price too (lens included). However, finding one in a good condition is a challenge.
@ I think the ZV-E1 is my end game tbh. I couldn't care less about bitrate or higher MP. I've seen it with my own eyes. You CAN get away with 6 MP on full frame and it'll still beat a 48 MP phone camera. My storage is always full too
Sony a6400 is my first real camera but I regretted it a bit. I really hate Sony color profile. My choice was either Sony or Canon or Fujifilm. But when I found out a filming equipment rental company was selling A6400 at the cheapest ever price I've ever seen, I immediately grab the opportunity.
I have a clothing brand, I want high quality video and photography content. Would any of these cameras work for fashion content? I also want s24 Ultra Samsung
You don't have to buy a "budget camera" if you have a mobile phone. I think everyone has a mobile phone or has an access to mobile phones. Anyone can take snapshots and start photography with any mobile phone camera.
where's the link to the recommended lens's video? every single video this guy does he inevitably will say "click here" and point to some empty space in the frame and literally nothing is there or appears there

It has a much much smaller sensor so it won't have the same amount of dynamic range these cameras does. However, it's still a fantastic pocket camera that will do just fine in daytime and in areas with lots of lights! For low light, bring a tripod!
Where do I find the microphone attachment relocator
That's important idea 🎉
0:06 Portrait of Lady on Fire insta vibe (yeah Vivaldi)
i bought a very cheap sony zv e10 but it waS in a very good condition
I started with a Panasonic Lumix S5 II X 😅
Why not Canon EOS R50?
What about Fujifilm XM5?
We need to start reporting anybody calling a $1000 camera, budget 😭😭
Im looking to buy the fujifilm x-m5.
"Budget" is the word dude.
I got my zv e10 for 310€ in a sale. They had put the wrong price:)
Sir i am your follower from india sir i wanted to buy a full frame i am getting nikon z5 for 910 usd and a7c mark 1 at 1365 usd please suggest me sir 😢
Think I'd get a Panasonic s5 brand new at 999 including the 20-60mm that and its better video and image quality
I will never recomend a camera without an EVF !
What about 2024 Fuji m5 ?
I already bought X100Vi as my first camera 😅
awesome camera to start with as well! but definitely not budget 😅
I was the 500k subscriber!!!!!
"3 to 5 years" uhhhh I don't remember planned obsolescence being implemented in cameras. Is this a thing? Are cameras the new phones?
My storage is always full too
$500 as a starting price? yeah that sounds inviting.
Change that color profile! No need to stay stock sony.
I have a clothing brand, I want high quality video and photography content. Would any of these cameras work for fashion content? I also want s24 Ultra Samsung
But a6100 has old micro USB port 😔
You don't have to buy a "budget camera" if you have a mobile phone. I think everyone has a mobile phone or has an access to mobile phones. Anyone can take snapshots and start photography with any mobile phone camera.
Pretty sure the next update to the a6000 that isn't an a6700 is gonna be called a6200 and a6450 cause a6500 is already taken 😂.
where's the link to the recommended lens's video? every single video this guy does he inevitably will say "click here" and point to some empty space in the frame and literally nothing is there or appears there
Strange. What device do you normally watch from? In any case, here's the direct link: th-cam.com/video/vdureGyO7_8/w-d-xo.html
