    Hey Thomas, I started doing these by hand back about 2004. High flow TB's weren't available back then. For getting the screws out just mill/grind the peened end of the threads off. The screws will come right out. Then, you can red locktite and a center punch to flair the end of the same screw again. Also, JMHO. Leave some of the tab at the top of the bore. It keeps the airhat/filter assembly centered. Good job man! I like your ambition! I think I sold somewhere close to 175 of these on ebay back then.

      Good to know thanks man. I may have to check out the ebay route. But I don't want to cover myself up just need to make some extra money to fund the projects.

    Very nice work! I did mine a couple of years ago with a band saw (NOT RECOMMENDED) and a die grinder. I did notice a small gain in power and a huge improvement in throttle response. I am sure with some other engine mods the power would be better.

    • @thomasbeyer
      @thomasbeyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing wrong with getting it done with the tools you have. It's definitely a worthwhile mod.

    Are you essentially making the hole the same size from top to bottom. I was wondering when you said about not damaging where the throttle blade sits if you were leaving a lip for it to rest on .

  • @mattjacobs2922

    After you grind the expansion off holding the throttle lever how do you re-attach the lever? Are you drilling and threading the end of the shaft? Spot welding? I started to flip mine and the thought of drilling and tapping the hardened shaft made me think twice. I have a lathe even. Riding the bike to work in march doesn’t sound appealing should anything snap. The shaft or tooling. I agree with a previous comment and had already ground the expansion off the screws and dimpled the screw upon installation. Without the mention of the screws stripping I probably would have done exactly that with at least one of them. Thank you for that. I got a crazy idea while punching the screw dimples about how intake systems benifit like a golf ball from dimples. I have no idea if it works any better since I never ran it in between stock and this. ⬇️

    • @thomasbeyer
      @thomasbeyer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Grind the expansion off. knock the shaft out with a punch. rotate shaft press back together and then blast it with the welder and quickly into a bucket of water before the plastic starts to melt.

    Whats the turn around time. Ive got a v8 tb that i modified to fit my truck when it was still a v6 with the linkage rod. The modified one is the only i have that will work with my truck and cant have it down for too long as it's my daily. Also have complete good v8 off a 97 motor. Would you be willing to take money off the work in exchange for the 97 tb?

  • @JJ-md7gi
    @JJ-md7gi ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can also: before loosening the screw. take a Dremel and cut the end of the screw off flush. Then with a burbit or drill bit grind a little more of the screw end out. This usually allows the screw to come out without damaging the threads.
    However I will say the vise grip idea is also a good one. I am just suggesting another option.

    • @thomasbeyer
      @thomasbeyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      IV done it that way and it does work but it's way faster snapping them off. Also IV had them make it out and when putting it back together the screws are so soft it stripped out when I got a tad too aggressive tightening it and then it wouldn't back out after lol. The new screws are much harder.

    Hey Thomas it's Brevin, about the supercharged jeep.
    After looking through online I can't find any MPVI2s that aren't from sketch websites, which I'm pretty sure is the only HP tuners that works for JTEC. Mines a 98 so it falls under that category. Is there any other route that you know of for "tuning" for my setup? I saw the Split Second Fuel Timing controller that's used in these 4L applications, the FTC-1. I believe it has a fuel enrichment setting where I can hook it up to the upstream O2, to where it adjusts the air/fuel going to the computer, richens under lean, conditions. With that and the Honda map sensor, does that sound like a possible way to go?

    • @thomasbeyer
      @thomasbeyer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey buddy. I know your a good bit away but is bringing it to me something that's possible? The split seconds seem to work I do not have personal experience with them tho. Some people say they are great and some blame them for why their jeep blew up.

    • @Cheddarrat77
      @Cheddarrat77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @thomasbeyer definitely isn't, im in FL, uninsured no tag kinda just a backyard project. Ill look into some other options for fuel management. Considering you got yours running with just the map sensor and the big injectors, I think it'll ultimately end up running without a tune, and the only thing I'd be worried about is running lean. I'm not at the point of tuning yet either just figuring everything out a little before I get to it. I think ill end up trying the split second in the end, hoping to get everything as close to plug and play as possible. I ended up getting those injector caps to make them longer too, super happy with them. I'll let you know what I come up with once I get to that point. Still waiting on some parts but it's getting closer 👌

    Have you had someone put one on a 3.9? Would you accept a 3.9 core?

    • @thomasbeyer
      @thomasbeyer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes iv had someone put one on a V6. The throttle cable has to be changed to the V8 style or the V6 throttle lever needs swapped onto the V8 throttle body. Last time I did one the guy sent me his V6 and a V8 throttle to do the job. No I won't accept the V6 throttle body as a core.
