Nier Automata obviously didn't had the same budget, but damn Platinum did miracles with this game. Easily one of my favorite games ever.
It is on the previous console generation, that’s not even a matter of budget plus I am pretty confident Nier Automata had a decent budget.

@@FelixS. i get the generational gap, but even then (i played it when it came out), it's not graphically impressive compared to other games released at the time, say, Horizon Zero Dawn for example. But tbf, graphics wasn't really NieR Automata's strength, it was the story and its impact, that's what made it one of my fave games ever.
@@soulscyther666 That’s not necessarily defining for the budget though and tripleA games have an above „decent“ budget. I said Nier automata had at least a decent budget, it certainly wasn’t low budget. Platinum games doesn’t accept low budget projects and the project was funded by SE which is one of the industry’s big players.
One of the things I like about stellar blades combat is it really feels like Eve is growing, at the start of the game Eve is panicking during the drop when she is seeing the casualties of the 7th airborne, she gets stuck in the pod and needs Tachy to save her, she gets wounded and Tachy has to sacrifice herself to save eve and Adam spirits her away from the combat, her fighting is very slow and methodical making the game initially feel almost like a souls like game, however as the game progresses eve gets stronger and stronger gaining more abilities and mobility her hits are stronger, she starts getting special attacks and the game starts shifting from a souls like to almost a DMC game up to and including her getting what amounts to a devil trigger and she basically becomes a whirlwind of death and destruction
They should do a Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata cross over
We have a good chance to at least get a 2B outfit, just like they did in gravity rush.

my heart is on NieR: Automata because its just its own different game. you see all the artistic direction starting from character design/fashion, color pallete and color grading, UI, music, world's ambient etc its all directed perfectly. I remember when I play the game the first time it didn't remind me of any other games (apart of previous Nier game) but I just full dive into it.
Nier Automata is one of the best games ever. A masterpiece. And we need a 2B outfit in Stellar Blade asap 😂

Nier Automata needs a spinoff or remastered.
Reincarnation exists (existed) it's literally the sequel of both NieRs and it really expanded the lore even more. Sadly the game service ended yesterday so it's not playable anymore.

I fckn love Nier: Automata, the music is one of the best i have ever listened to, how 2B animations are so fluidly, each animation has a beginning and an end and each one of them has different transitions to return to the idle position, if u continue or not the next animation, the lore of the aliens, the fuckin humans crap corporation, completing all the endings was so amazing discovering more about the world and the robots, A2 and 9S gameplay and background...bro i cant explain, its just amazing....

Don't know why this whole comparison went into a few people trying to compel others why one is better than the other.
Nier automata came out years back and has clearly influenced stellar blade's creation massively. Of course it shares the good features we all love and miss from automata, of course we'll think of nier when we play. Its natural. From someone who hasn't even had the chance to play stellar blade, i envy yall. As a nier and drakengard fan for life, something this heavily influenced yet freshly unique is something I'd die to play.
And damn I'm getting reminded of how well platinum games handled combat in automata despite a terribly low budget.

@@kilikilio5321 i know what u guys are talking about, i 100 percent NieR a long time ago and also have been playing since the release, it's even my favorite game of all time, but still, like i said Stellar is better than NieR in terms of gameplay and graphics, that doesnt mean NieR gameplay is bad tho, cant say the same about graphics sadly.
Smaller budget basically, so Nier devs focused on what's important first, since they already know the game's true weakness from the first Nier game is the gameplay. Yoko already got the music and concept down. Graphics is secondary because Square Enix splurges on FF titles, not a sequel title for a cult classic.

well you can see what they put the budget into in stellar blade. i think her interacting with the water causes less distortion then cyberpunk originally did 😅😅 plus for some reason eve doesnt get wet at all.

I love Both Games, i stayed for Nier Replicant and Automata cause of its story and Characters , and stayed for Stellar Blade for its addictive Combat, gameplay loop and bosses, while the story isn't bad and is engaging enough, it just doesn't come close to niers storytelling, but both games are amazing on their own way, i can't wait for Stellar Blade 2

Square enix is known for their graphical prowess. Kinda unfair but pretty neat to seat how much steller blade tried.
Nier Automata animation still look more fluid. There still some sense "stiffness" in some Stellar Blade animation. Also voice over and story of Nier is better.
Edit: Lot of people doesn't get it. When I said animation, I mean animation, how the character moving, attack etc. I'm not talking about combat or mechanic.
That's the difference between a mobile game studio who just made their first console game and a studio who's been doing it since around 2008
The games were just going for 2 completely different types of gameplay & combat. In Automata you could cancel out of any animation and perfect dodge any attack while Stellar Blade is more strategic and focused on attack timing like souls games. The main comparison between these games is the art direction, the world, characters & music.. not so much the gameplay & combat
It is. The visual difference in Performance and Resolution mode is like night and day. Resolution mode is unplayable though. That's why the gameplay has be slowed down. Stellar should have been a hack n slash.
@@BatMane95 which begs the question as to why so may youtubers said Stellar Blade was the "second coming?" It was a baffling phenomena. They said it would put an end to modern gaming as we know and would change everything. Anyone whose been around gaming long enough knew it would end up this way. They set SB up for a massive failure comparing it to games like Nier and Horizon 0 Dawn. It's a great game just not on par with the games it was being compared to two months ago.

Automata вышла в 2017м году, так что с момента ее выхода прошло уже 7 лет)
На год выхода даже у Nier была посредственная графика и геймплей, а в этом году Stellar Blade лучшая игра по графике и геймплею. Не спорю что Nier произведение искусства, просто не надо искажать факты если фанаты Nier, Stellar Blade тоже прекрасная игра. Просто Nier больше про рассказ, а SB про геймплей
@@Vengeance_Im нет, даже геймплей в Nier, имхо, лучше. Фича с переходом из 3д в 2д, внезапный переход в shmup и всё такое. Это очень хорошо разбавляет геймплей. В Stellar Blade же только унылая суходрочка мобов с посредственной боевкой и с отвратительными анимациями.
Соглашусь только с графикой, Stellar Blade в этом плане превосходит оба Nier'а.
Both are incredible titles. While SB boasts it's gorgeously detailed Eve, NieR has iconic 2B. The combat in both games are exciting to say the least. In Automata you can do some seriously cinematic sequence given that you have mastered the game. While SB has a more brutal and raw combat with QTEs. One thing that matters most is the deeper impact of the plot. And NieR wins clearly there. I'd buy SB in a heartbeat if it came in PC.

Stellar blade is a seriously impressive game for Shift Ups very first AAA game, from a studio that mostly pnly ever made mobile games like Nikke its mind blowing that they made something better than most of the other garbage coming out in recent memory. For me personally I think the game is an 8 but i can understand some 7s. Only thing holding it back was unfortunately the story and overall writing, which imo is the most important part of a STORY driven game. Having good gameplay without an equally good story is like having a good side dish with a 1 dollar walmart steak. The steak isnt terrible, its just there.
bruh you really gave replayability to stellar blade? nier has 27 endings and you at least need to play the game 4 times to get the true ending

22 of them are joke endings that you get for eating a fish, killing pascal early, or going the wrong directions in certain places, uninstalling your OS etc. These can all be achieved in a singular playthrough.
Calling route A and B endings is like calling the end of the chapter for a story the end of the game, route A and B are better described as chapters from different character perspectives, while route C covers the final half of the story and is completely different.
After getting ending C you can just use chapter select to go back to the final boss fight and then get ending D and E.
And before you argue "Well the credits roll at the end of each ending" You can do all of this without ever starting a new game as you just hit continue. So it all occurs on the same file, therefore it isn't starting a new playthrough.
Stellar Blade has more enjoyable combat, which inherently contributes to replay value as well as a ng+ mode that unlocks a new difficulty as well as 30 additional costumes, in addition to the 2 endings you didn't get from the first playthrough. So at minimum that's at least 3 playthroughs for all endings where as with Automata you only need 1 complete playthrough and chapter select to 100% the game.
@@gibbygibbstein7858 you're rating replayability based on combat it seems. As someone who prefers story, characters and music, automata is more replayable for me.
Stellar blades story and characters are it's worst part and having to go through that again and again when I'm just not invested enough is just kind of draining.
Automata has such an excessively well written story, narrative, characters, etc that you can constantly and consistently find new appreciation and value in what it does and conveys in replays.
Also consider this; automata was designed as a story to be replayed to get the full story. Have you considered how different replaying that completed story is?
Have you considered the insane amount of side materials that are out there for automata that contain Canon lore with very important details on the characters and world?
Playing Automata knowing all the details from the side materials actually elevates the emotional impact of the game to insane heights even beyond the crazy amount of depressing, sadness filled suffering the games story is as a first time experience.
I would go as far as saying that automata can genuinely be played for the 1st time twice. It's really a whole different experience replaying it with a whole and complete understanding. Especially if you have a complete or at least robust understanding of the entirety of the DrakenNieR verse/series.
The quality of writing is absurd in Automata.
@trevorveillette8415 I get that not everyone values story and gameplay the same, but where NieR excels in story Stellar blade excels in combat.
You can't really play through Automata multiple times for all the endings, since you have to complete all 4 main routes on the same file to complete the story anyways, if you dont have A, B, C, D, and E then you haven't actually completed the story, you've completed a chapter of the game.
Now, if you're going for 100% completion and platinum
Personally I don't consider endings A, C, D, and E to be different playthroughs because they all occur on the same file and tell different halves of the overall story and are needed to get the game's ending, the "playthroughs" are better described as completing chapters and not the game. If someone only did route A, you would tell them they didn't actually beat the game. So it can't be considered a full playthrough, because it isn't. I only consider B to be a playthrough because it's just route A from 9's perspective.
With Stellar blade, you're looking at one playthrough of being close to 100% and 2 additional playthroughs. The game also added ng+, which added to the game, and they're also adding boss rush. This and the game being more enjoyable combat wise gives it more overall replay value to me than NieR did even if NieR has a better story.
When it comes to single-player games, I generally value story over gameplay, but once I've experienced a story, I've experienced it. I have no reason to play a game again solely for the story, which is when the gameplay actually starts to matter more to me, because if I revisit a game I usually do it for the gameplay.
I think completionists and gameplay freaks get more value out of SB than NieR because SB seems to incentivize you to actually play multiple new playthroughs for things like the platinum trophy, new costumes, and new skills.
@@deadpool3302Most of Nier's endings are joke endings and most of them are just sequels of the story and the actual ending except for the Emil one, B and the alternative ending if you choose to use A2 against 9s in the ending.
Nier automata is slightly better overall, storylinewise and also Nier has easier fishing gameplay, Stellar blade just has better physics, water exploration and graphics, but think if Nier was made these days like a brand new updated game it would still be king. Stellar blade took inspiration from Nier so it's not entirely unique or original but it is a great game that's almost as good as Nier automata as a whole.

Eh. Honestly think good graphics can hurt tone and mood of the whole game. It has a fantastic artstyle that makes it timeless. Artstyle usually overcomes graphics in game quality. Fun fact is that the soulsborne games including er, have below average graphics. Yet it all looks so good and well put together because of its fantastic art direction. Nier, in a similar case, has fantastic art direction that just suits the game and narrative perfectly. Wouldn't want more or less imo.

@@drunksquirrel2051 No, it’s definitely not necessary. It does help with understanding some references about the history of the world though. Then again, if you want the full picture about the game’s world and lore, you’d also need to play the Drakengard games. I didn’t play those other games before though and I’m pretty sure a lot of other people that loved Automata didn’t either

Personally I like the whole series including the Drakengard games but it's only worth it to play Drakengard 1 if you really want to know the origin of what caused Nier's world to be the way that it is.

Stellar Blade has better graphics and fan service. I hope it comes to PC soon. But Nier Automata is on a different level, it's not really a game, but a deeply philosophical theatre play, a great piece of art.
Animations are also better in Automata, more polished, 2B feels like Trinity from The Matrix. Eve seems little more than a sex doll by comparison.

Nier Automata does better considering the technical limitations of the release platform. uses the environment in a complex way and is more inventive. You believe in this world, because the functionality of invented things is visible not only in battles.
Stellar blade has a place to be, but it is rather contemplative and no more. it is better not to think about the meaning of what is happening. Content for the sake of content.

니어 오토마타는 저의 인생게임중 하나 입니다. 스텔라 블레이드도 마찬가지입니다. 니어 오토마타는 스토리와 음악 엉덩이가 기억에 남습니다. 전투는 아무런 전략도 긴장감도 없으며, 그냥 버튼만 누르면 될정도로 형편없고 그래픽은 평범했습니다. 유리했던점은 이전작품들과 연결점 스토리텔링의 유리함을 가지고 있습니다. 스토리와 음악때문에 계속 플레이 했지만 플레이는 엔딩을 볼때까지 너무나도 지루했습니다. 제 주위 친구들은 니어 오토마타를 이야기하면 오타쿠 엉덩이 게임이라 생각하고 스토리도 호불호가 너무 갈리는등 찬반양론이 많습니다. 오글거리는 중2병 감성이라 얘기하기도 합니다. 나에겐 인생 게임이지만 그건 스토리와 음악에 관해서이고 니어는 한번 클리어하고 다시는 손대지 않습니다. 스토리의 감동은 있으나 플레이의 감동은 없습니다. 전투가 밋밋하고 재미없기 때문입니다. 그러나 스텔라 블레이드는 벌써 5회차 진행중이며 플레이타임은 100시간을 넘겼습니다. 스토리는 니어의 압승입니다. 스텔라의 스토리는 일반적인 액션게임 정도로 평범합니다. 하지만 게임 자체가 너무나 재밌습니다. 계속 플레이를 하게 만듭니다. 전투의 메커니즘은 충격적입니다. 새로운 액션을 개척했다고 봐도 무방합니다. 기존에는 소울라이크처럼 아주 어렵거나, 베요네타와 니어, 데빌메이크라이 처럼 너무 쉬운 2가지 측면만 있었는데 스텔라블레이드는 그 중간을 절묘하게 갖추었습니다. 그러면서도 굉장히 화려하고 도전욕구를 불러일으킵니다. 스텔라 블레이드는 시프트업의 첫 작품입니다. 다들 이점을 너무 간과하는군요~ 니어 오토마타는 그전 작품들의 업그레이드 버전입니다. 앞으로 스텔라블레이드는 더욱 발전할것이고 탄탄해질 것입니다. 스토리는 점점 굵어져 갈것이고 연기는 자연스러워 질 것이며 그래픽은 더욱 다듬어질것이고 액션은 더욱 발전할것입니다. 몇몇 사람들은 스텔라블레이드에 너무 냉정합니다. 관대한 시선으로 봐주길 바랍니다. 둘다 좋은작품입니다. 그리고 댓글을 보니까 플레이도 안해보고 추억에만 잠겨있는 사람들이 너무 많습니다. 멍청한~
Both looks good. Played Nier automata. Stellar Blade disc might just sit on my shelf. Would be nice if the game had some dialog rather than not saying anything the whole time.

I remember when reading the description in stellar blade first trailer 5 years ago and thinking, heeeyy this is just a copy paste of nier automata story, we definitely can see how heavy is nier automata influence on stellar blade but iam glad while the story and soundtrack is far inferior, the combat feels different and more challenging, and of course better graphics, its new gen console after all
hope Stellar Blade & Nier Automata are at the same Universe but different Galaxy, one day both will meet each other, Awesome

Honestly, games got so similar in their realism attempts at one point i stopped really noticing anymore. Plus, it seems rather pointless to compare the physics between two games, both of which use wholly unrealistic physics to begin with to portray super human characters XD
