Woman absolutely can harrass men without their consent. I, a man, have been groped by an aggressive woman. It's not new. Pheobe Cates' character really gets no less writing than Billy does really as a character drive. You yourself commented on how he didn't stand up to his boss who was hitting on him, which may happen in business when someone's in a position of power, and I don't think he ever evolves beyond that as a character. Similar with her, which she does make it known to him he's going to be in trouble when she thinks he may have made time with his boss, but is focused enough to keep to the situation at hand. That guy Murray said nothing racist in this movie. Russia isn't a race of people.
My favorite part about this reaction is watching John bite his tongue instead of turning & saying "are you serious" so funny I had to watch it a second time..
What makes this sequel very special is that director Joe Dante was given FULL creative freedom to do whatever he wanted to make! Warner Bros. Believed he was the reason that made the original Gremlins successful. So as a result, he made what he calls it, “one of the most unconventional studio pictures ever!” and went full satire on this film!
From what I heard, he had no plans or desire to make a sequel unless he was allowed to do whatever he wanted. The studio said yes, gave him complete control (which feels so unheard of these days) and he did just that: did whatever he wanted and gave Gremlins not only a new coat of paint, but a whole new building to play in!

When he finally accepted, it was because they let him just go wild. He wasn't the only director to swear to never work with puppets again. Trey Parker and Matt Stone were put off after Team America: World Police, as well.
Furthermore, I think the whole movie is just his creative expression regarding not wanting the do the movie. The directorial equivalent of "fine I'll make your damned sequel... gonna make it fuckin stupid tho" 😂
There was plans to make a 3rd as well. It was going to be the gremlins take America kinda..... It was going to be set in Washington, and the Gremlins take over the Whitehouse and pentagon. Phoebe Cates's character is now working as a tour guide at the Whitehouse and to fit in to the holiday setting theme (1st Xmas, 2nd new year) it would be set on the 4th of July. It sounded like it could have been great and a definat escalation.......imagine Gremlins infecting government systems. Don't know why they didn't go ahead with it.
If I remember it correctly john Glover was going to be the President as his character was meant to be a parody of Trump crossed with another business tycoon.
This movie is so wild and hilarious. I love the Looney Tunes intro. And the part where the film seemingly burns up was so realistic, it fooled most of the audience into thinking the projector actually malfunctioned.
“Are we back in Chinatown?” - Nope, just crappy late 80’s / early 90’s NYC 😂 I highly recommend watching the Key and Peele sketch about this movie. I just found it today and it was hysterically on point.

I too saw it when came me and aunt we both love the first one when we saw the movie stopped I think everyone in the theater was getting upset until everyone saw the Gremlins then we was cheering having a good time.
I remember sleeping on the opposite end of my Gradma's Queen sized bed to where my head was right next to the box T.V., and suddenly I heard the T.V.s' DVD slot slide open, and then closed. All of a sudden, the Gremlins 2 theme was playing, and I opened my eyes to the main menu of this movies was on. She knew turning the movie on would wake me up. Man I miss those days, I miss my Grandma. 💚
Fun fact, the mid-movie scene with Hulk Hogan was replaced for the VHS release because it didn't make sense with the projector and screen if watching from home. Later when the DVD release came about Hulk Hogan pushed to have his original part added back in and for awhile there were two versions you could get with each of the mid-movie scenes. The alternate VHS scene involved the Gremlins playing outlaws in the old west and branding cows with a hot iron until John Wayne showed up to have a shootout with them. It can be found on TH-cam. Also it was supposed to be obvious that the Clamp character was based on Donald Trump but these days Trump is very different than he was in the 80's, so people might not make the connection so easily. The whole movie was meant to a parody and "bad" so that they wouldn't ask Dante to make anymore. And it worked.
Whoa didn't know there was a VHS version of the Gremlins stopping the film. I'll look for it on TH-cam. I heard in the novelization that the Brain Gremlin takes over the book for a while.

Howie played Gizmo in both movies of course and Frank Welker was the voice of Stripe in the first movie. The Gizmo voice was the voice Mandell had been doing in his stand-up comedy act, which eventually become the voice of "Bobby" aka "Bobby's World".

I love The Howling also I like Howling 2 for Christopher Lee, Reb Brown, Annie McEnroe, Judd Omen and the beautiful Sybil Danning and Marsha Hunt with or without clothes.
Yeah, I think it was that sketch that made more folks aware of this movie. It's a pretty insane pitch and all of that crap is actually in the movie, lol!
One of the few sequels that improves on the original in just about every way imaginable. Dante was let loose here and the more he indulges in breaking the fourth wall and satire the better it gets.
The rules also need some clarification: 1. Sunlight is deadly to the gremlins, but bright artificial light only stuns or scares them(dim artificial light is fine). 2. Only pure liquid water will cause the multiplication, so something like juice or snow will not affect them. 3. The "after midnight" effect is in play wherever the sun is down at the moment, the sun will nullify the transformation effect with food.
Last Action Hero is an underrated film that needs more reactions, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the T1000, Tywin Lannister, Danny DeVito as the voice of an animated cat, many more and starring every trope and Action sequence from the 80-90’s. A Truely Amazing Movie that was WAY ahead of its time.
It's funny because in the 90s we all thought this was a incredibly funny over-the-top parody of Trump, but now in the present some people don't even get the connection because the character is seemingly just too nice.

@@HollywoodandWine101 Puppets are a wayyy better idea than CGI. CGI can either go right or terribly wrong. Also, puppets would make it seem more realistic and that’s what they used originally.
Don't quote me on this, but I heard that the director of Gremlins was so offended by the fact that the studio asked him to make a sequel to original, he made it as ridiculous as possible. My guess that explains why they never made a 3.

See, the hilarious part about Clamp saying what he sees is a teddy bear with suction clamps on car windows is literally the first time i saw Gizmo when i was 4...in the window of a car in my town. With the headband XDDD i loved him inmediately and always got happy when i saw that car. I miss that car. I saw Gremlins 2 opening night and the audience went nuts, when they thought the actual film broke, then clapped when they realized it was a joke! The DVD version replaced the film breaking scene, with the gremlins taking over the tv broadcast. I can’t remember correctly, but I think they inserted John Wayne footage, in place of Hulk Hogan. The Abe Lincoln story was a spoof of the original movies Santa story. 😂 Next movie she’d probably have a horrible 4th of July story! 🤣 This movie was supposed to be a live action Looney Tunes cartoon. That’s why they started the movie with the Bugs Bunny short.

Fun Fact: The NY accent is basically an Americanized British accent. They have similarities because of when England/Britain etc came to NY. So, you basically hear remnants of the original accent.

Apparently there's an animated series ; Gremlins Secrets of the Mogwai. I've yet to see it but it goes back to when Mr Wing was 10 years old. It was released in 2022
Both Gremlin films are so freaking enjoyable but I do love part 2 a bit more. Love that Gremlins break the 4th wall in both films and Gizmo is just tooo adorable. Both are dark comedies but part 2 somehow felt bigger. There's an animated show that is a prequel to the movies called " Gremlins Secrets of the Mogwai " with Joe Dante as consulting producer.
Its funny you say he is very Gizmo is kinda ET like, when gremlins was essentially a reworked ET sequel that ultimately went to in a different direction.
Not sure if you guys know but Howie Mandel use to do a similar voice in his own cartoon show “Bobby’s world” about a young kid goes out into the world has little adventures. It was very cute. Rides around on his big wheels.
The bad ass gremlin with the stripe, his name is Mohawk, he's Stripe's descendant and new leader of the gremlins, buuuuuuut he doesn't give a shit about leading the New Batch, he's a rebel, a drifter who wants to do whatever he wants including bullying Gizmo.

Im soooooooooooo glad you guys are watching this one. It's one of the greatest movies ever made from the 80/90's. 1 or 2 stop motion but nothing CGI and everything is practical
I saw this movie in theaters summer of 1990. I was 10 years old and it’s still remained one of the best experiences at the cinema. my friend and I were just so blown away at how different it was from the original movie. And I don’t think we fully understood the concept of parody back then, but we knew that’s what this movie was. Very underrated film and sequel.
I miss movies like this. I grew up on over the top movies. Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies, Burt Reynolds in the Cannonball Run movies, The Ghostbusters Movies and Gremlins. I enjoyed all the craziness, fun and mayhem of these movies. Thanks for taking me back to the fun times I enjoyed when I went to the movies.

It is known that when Christopher Lee took the role of Dr Catheter in this movie, he apologized to the director Joe Dante for appearing in The Howling 2 which was a sequel to Joe Dante's movie.
I love The Howling also I like Howling 2 for Christopher Lee, Reb Brown, Annie McEnroe, Judd Omen and the beautiful Sybil Danning and Marsha Hunt with or without clothes.

One of the few sequels that improves on the original in just about every way imaginable. Dante was let loose here and the more he indulges in breaking the fourth wall and satire the better it gets.
The rules also need some clarification:
1. Sunlight is deadly to the gremlins, but bright artificial light only stuns or scares them(dim artificial light is fine).
2. Only pure liquid water will cause the multiplication, so something like juice or snow will not affect them.
3. The "after midnight" effect is in play wherever the sun is down at the moment, the sun will nullify the transformation effect with food.
What about the gremlin with the puppet and has a picture taking of him and he poofs into a skeleton?
They even poked fun at Kate's childhood trauma story from the first one because of how alot of people considered it over the top.

It's funny because in the 90s we all thought this was a incredibly funny over-the-top parody of Trump, but now in the present some people don't even get the connection because the character is seemingly just too nice.

I would be down to see a Gremlins 3 someday. I’m honestly so surprised they never made a 3rd movie. It’s been talked about, but still has never happened.
From what I’ve heard it’s in pre-production and that the directors wants to use puppets still instead of dog using cgi .
@@HollywoodandWine101 Puppets are a wayyy better idea than CGI. CGI can either go right or terribly wrong. Also, puppets would make it seem more realistic and that’s what they used originally.
Don't quote me on this, but I heard that the director of Gremlins was so offended by the fact that the studio asked him to make a sequel to original, he made it as ridiculous as possible.
My guess that explains why they never made a 3.

See, the hilarious part about Clamp saying what he sees is a teddy bear with suction clamps on car windows is literally the first time i saw Gizmo when i was 4...in the window of a car in my town. With the headband XDDD i loved him inmediately and always got happy when i saw that car. I miss that car.

I saw Gremlins 2 opening night and the audience went nuts, when they thought the actual film broke, then clapped when they realized it was a joke! The DVD version replaced the film breaking scene, with the gremlins taking over the tv broadcast. I can’t remember correctly, but I think they inserted John Wayne footage, in place of Hulk Hogan.

Apparently there's an animated series ; Gremlins Secrets of the Mogwai. I've yet to see it but it goes back to when Mr Wing was 10 years old. It was released in 2022

Both Gremlin films are so freaking enjoyable but I do love part 2 a bit more. Love that Gremlins break the 4th wall in both films and Gizmo is just tooo adorable. Both are dark comedies but part 2 somehow felt bigger. There's an animated show that is a prequel to the movies called " Gremlins Secrets of the Mogwai " with Joe Dante as consulting producer.
Its funny you say he is very Gizmo is kinda ET like, when gremlins was essentially a reworked ET sequel that ultimately went to in a different direction.
The Secrets of the Mogwai animated series on Max is very charming as well. 💚

I saw this movie in theaters summer of 1990. I was 10 years old and it’s still remained one of the best experiences at the cinema. my friend and I were just so blown away at how different it was from the original movie. And I don’t think we fully understood the concept of parody back then, but we knew that’s what this movie was. Very underrated film and sequel.

I miss movies like this. I grew up on over the top movies. Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies, Burt Reynolds in the Cannonball Run movies, The Ghostbusters Movies and Gremlins. I enjoyed all the craziness, fun and mayhem of these movies. Thanks for taking me back to the fun times I enjoyed when I went to the movies.
Gremlins 1 is a better overall "film" imo, but Id be lying if I said I didn't absolutely LOVE this sequel! 💚
