Why your med school doesn't matter?

In this video , "why your med school doesn't matter", i go over the small differences between DO and MD and why where you go to medical school doesn't matter. This is a video for all those who are interested in Anesthesiology and Anesthesiologist, or medicine in general. YOu can see that there is not much difference in the two degrees ultimately because the DO and MD residencies are basically the same.
My name is Dr. Karen Francois and I am a 5th year Attending physician based out of NY. These stories will chronicle my life with Anesthesia, as an Anesthesiologist and home life with my husband and 3 children. Through these glimpses into my life I hope to inspire and motivate young women or men into seriously considering Anesthesia as a career choice.

I always thought STEP 1 was a way to put everyone on an even ground, so will residency programs begin to focus on rank?? By the way ur channel is like a big inspiration to me. I want to be anesthesiologist and seeing someone like me doing what u do keeps me pushing through Orgo rn😊

It’s going to make committees have to look closely at the whole package and will definitely make the process a lot more detailed. I think ranking is also falling away from favor at some institutions..only time will tell, but keep pressing forward! Orgo was the hardest part of premed in my opinion! 💆🏾‍♀️ you can do it! Very nice video, how important would you say a person's medical school (MD) is in getting accepted at competitive residency programs?

It definitely matters some, but your performance in the medical school can speak volumes. If you do very well in med school, get inducted into an honor society for example, that will set you up for your 1st choice residency..it worked for me!
