Jess, soon to be Dr. Cliffe- I am a veterinary professor in the US and I just wanted to say how awesome these vlogs are. You're answering questions that I myself wanted to know the answers to before starting vet school also. Wish you all the best with your education and career!!!!

I've been a veterinary receptionist in Ohio (USA) for a few years now and started watching these videos out of curiosity. I'm learning so much and already understand patient charts so much better than before. It's helping me to communicate with our doctors and clients more efficiently as well! Thank you!

@hi My high school actually had a Career Technical Education course for Vet Assisting. We have dogs on campus to practice hands on activities (no cats bc they're too unpredictable) and in my final year, we had a barn nearby that is willing to let us work with the horses there. Besides getting the certification in high school, the only other way I know to get it is to learn from a licensed vet and take an exam when you cover all the material. I'm really lucky my school had this program 😊
This is such a helpful video!!!!! Especially the radiograph part. When I help techs rn, I literally have no idea what they are talking about and just hold the body parts they tell me to 😂
I'm a nine yr old and still decided to watch this but I have a great reason why! :) I've kind of always wanted to be a vet because I love animals and I want to learn some veterinary things to get a little bit of a head start for when I go to college to learn to be a vet, also because I would want to know what to do if something were to happen to my dog or my grandparents dog or cat.
This was ABSOLUTELY GREAT and HELPFUL thank you so much! Im starting my first semester in August and I'm super excited and nervous! Thank you again, excellent video! Best wishes!!! :)
Hi I’m Rylee, I’m 11 years old and i love animals and i have a special touch with animals my family says.I want to be a vet when i grow up. i love your vids! I subbed, thanks for so much info!
I’m 19, currently a freshman in college and my major is veterinary medicine. I’m not really sure what kind of career I’m trying to pursue, but I’m interested in the treatment of exotic, wildlife animals and livestock animals, and of course your domestic small animals. I wanna do it all! Lmao. Something fun and high paying. Right now, I’m currently in the process of receiving my CVA (certification of veterinary assistant) and it’s been great. My concern is trying to figure out the direction of where to start on my veterinary journey. This video was really helpful in most aspects and explained a lot. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey! That is so awesome. I totally understand where you are coming form - I don't know which direction i want to take my own veterinary journey in honestly. Just go where life takes you, and take all the opportunities you can :)
Rn im almost 13 and ever since i knew about having a career i wanted to be a vet. When i got older i was thinking abt other jobs like air hostess and hospice but veterinare sparked my interest once more. Im watching this video and outless othet because im unsure if i want to follow through with veterinare in the future. I just want to know a bit abt what i may be getting into....even though i dont understand anything. Gl future me
@@jesscliffee it’s inner hind leg so I think medial! Not sure why in particular though. On a different note - is there any particular specialty you are drawn to? What do you see your career in vet med looking like (as of today) once you graduate?
Yes thats so cool, thanks for telling me about that technique :) Hmm, I definitely prefer small animal medicine at this point, however I do love some aspects of large animal medicine, but in terms of speciality I'm unsure - I'm enjoying both surgery and pathology at this point so either of those could be a route I go down. But right now I'm just going with the flow, and hoping to start off in a mixed animal practice. I also love the idea of exotic/conservation medicine (wildlife, zoos, interesting pets e.t.c), which could be something I explore in the future :)
I'm 12! And I'm really interested in becoming a vet as I work very well with animals and my face lights up whenever I see them, thank you so much for this information! I am really excited to learn this and use this when I hopefully make it into vet school, I subbed and liked and have bookmarked this in case I need a fresh reminder! thank you so much Jess!
Thank you! This has been very helpful. Your videos and experience gave me a very good idea of what to ask questions about and to learn and what to get out of shadowing! This has been immensely helpful, thank you!
haha at my placement the vet asked me about what was wrong with the X-ray and I was soo confused cause I didn’t know😂 great times! super helpful vid thxx so much!
Hello Jess, could you make a video about all the terminology you can about careers, my basic language is Spanish, but I want to learn them in English too, greetings
I am a drop out student who is going to take programs that can help me get a highschool diploma, and get into the program to become a vet assistant. Thank you so much for this video it make me learn more about animals when I try my best to help them through a long rough time.
Thank you for this video, i'm glad to find one that's not american! im from AUS not NZ but i think they're more similar than US ones. :) I'm starting my bachelor in animal health and science in 2022 and i'm so excited but also scared. I have done a cert in animal studies and know some BASIC BASIC stuff like TPR's and we had to memorise certain ranges but i still feel like i know nothing. So thank you for this video!
Im in 7 grade and ever since I was little i dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and im trying my best to learn early in life about how to be one for my future and the things you talked about where really helpful ty very much❤❤❤ Btw does anyone have a recommendation for videos that teach helpful things like this one??
I just finished my 5th year and had no practical experience for several reasons. I'm now 23 and I've been going to a small animal clinic and I just started gaining some practical knowledge. I don't know, do you think I'm late? How long should it take me before actually working at start gaining money? One of these reasons was focusing on studying to get the highest grades possible and during vacation most clinics around me didn't have a place for me to practice. Thank you Dr. Cliffe!!
I'm a freshman in highschool. I just want to know more about veterinary medicine but thank you so much a lot of good information!

I've kind of always wanted to be a vet because I love animals and I want to learn some veterinary things to get a little bit of a head start for when I go to college to learn to be a vet, also because I would want to know what to do if something were to happen to my dog or my grandparents dog or cat.
Go for it!! Goodluck to you :)
I'm doing Bvsc &AH , I'm going to be a veterinarian, your video is very helpful, thank you❤️

Hi I’m Rylee,
I’m 11 years old and i love animals and i have a special touch with animals my family says.I want to be a vet when i grow up. i love your vids! I subbed, thanks for so much info!
thank you !
i'm vet tech from israel . love this video.
This video was unimaginably helpful so thank you for that!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for watching!
Just go where life takes you, and take all the opportunities you can :)
please make more videos like this one!!!! i enjoyed it so much
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad I could help :) So exciting for you!!
Gl future me
You have no idea how helpful this was!! Thank you so much, really enjoying your videos :)
I'm so glad! thank you so much!! :)
loved this video!!! can already tell that positions are going to haunt me in vet school too 🤯
I'm so happy!! Haha yes can be super confusing!
We use medial saphenous for blood draws on all of the kittens in our rescue (I foster and volunteer a ton). It's just easier with squirmy tiny babies.
Wow thats so interesting! Medial not lateral? Never heard of it, thanks for the information!! :)
@@jesscliffee it’s inner hind leg so I think medial! Not sure why in particular though.
On a different note - is there any particular specialty you are drawn to? What do you see your career in vet med looking like (as of today) once you graduate?
Yes thats so cool, thanks for telling me about that technique :)
Hmm, I definitely prefer small animal medicine at this point, however I do love some aspects of large animal medicine, but in terms of speciality I'm unsure - I'm enjoying both surgery and pathology at this point so either of those could be a route I go down.
Thank you so much for watching, I am so glad this helped you :) I wish you luck on your journey!
Same!
Thank you! This has been very helpful. Your videos and experience gave me a very good idea of what to ask questions about and to learn and what to get out of shadowing! This has been immensely helpful, thank you!

This video is AMAZING and so super helpful, thank you 🥰
I just finished my 5th year and had no practical experience for several reasons.
Cliffe!!
Thank you! This video was really helpful.
Very professional. I love your sharing
I just took so many notes from this video thank you❤️
