I must say, there is not a whole lot of home built sawmills that I would take a chance on but I would give good money for that mill. Very nice and heavy duty. great job

It's like a table with two legs and takes a good craftsman and in this case, a lot of steel to build one. I applaud you.

    What a beauty.
Imagine buying a 6x6 x10 feet oak beam at Home Depot !
And you can make some honest 2x4 lumber.
    Hats off to Dad.
As Mart Twain said as he got older he found his father was smarter and smarter.

Really good looking mill you have, lots of great idea's, I love the window for the depth of cut, also looks like it's pretty heavily built too

That cantilever design has never made much sense to me but you did a fine job of it.

Nice. Looks plenty stable. If the axle tube isn't a thick heavy gauge it could bend sticking out so far. We have a twin axle trailer that hauls a medium size tractor that the springs sets about a foot inside the Hubs. All 4 tires are getting swayed out from the axle shafts bending at the springs. But it's a great looking machine and the I beam deck will stand up to a lot of use and the occasional dropping a log on it. It looks like it's probably a fresh build. The slow return will kill tons of useful time. If y'all can get it returning really fast it'll surprise you how much of an increase in production you'll see in the same amount of time. I love seeing homemade stuff made from salvaged parts and materials that can compete with expensive factory machines. KEEP it UP👍💯

this is probably the first homemade mill that I have seen that is perfect for my own needs, any chance at some close up pics and dimensions?

No problems with anything of that kind. It cuts very flat. Driven by a Jeep Cherokee power steering pump, hydraulic motor, and a forward / reverse valve using a chain / cog drive system from one end of sawmill to the other. Thanks for asking!

great ideal useing the power steering pump...i hope you take the time to do a much closer up video because i can see many people benfitting from your ideals ....about how much does it weight just wondering...but that is one good looking machine ...liked the scale window

Very nice design, except for the guarding over the belt driving the hydraulic pump.

It looks great, it would have been nice to see how it works and maybe some plans (at a price) I think a guard for the belt and the saw blade might have been a good idea, arms and legs are useful for getting about :) :) :)

A great looking machine. Would have liked to get a better look at it but the video work was terrible. Was the camera strapped to the family dog?

Kool mill. Now that I'm more crippled I wish mine had a seat to ride on.
How does that forklift do in the off pavement? I know they do well on gravel ,but never seen one in a sawmill environment. I've needed a forklift for a long time , but haven't built or traded for one yet.

What did your Dad find more satisfying, building the sawmill, or milling the lumber?
