Thank you so much for coming to our rescue! We were so lucky to’ve been able to pull into the lay-by and so grateful for your help and friendliness making a stressful time much easier for all of us, Fred (the horse) and the dog!
My partner and daughter are horse people. I'm a mechanic and never fail to be amazed at the mobile scrap yard on wheels that is the average horse box. Almost all are run on zero maintenance. A lot of horse boxes are Iveco's. As I say there's a reason for that. They are a cheap truck. They're cheap cos they're crap. Great job as usual Steve.
This was an interesting one, was also interesting to see how the highway crew can bring the M4 to a stand still to keep things as safe as possible for a situation like this! Love the videos Steve.
Even though I am not an American, I have watched Ron Pratt's channel for many years now. I clicked on another video of yours (an artic first and the bus next), as your lorry is similarly coloured to his, thinking it was his video. I enjoyed that video and have enjoyed this one. I will subscribe immediately after leaving this comment. Two observations I have made (based on watching two videos mind...). One being that it seems far easier to tow European lorries in terms of removing the drive shaft and attaching air lines. The second is that each time, the person rescued has left a message of gratitude here in the comments section! I don't know if that is the norm, but it is certainly nice to see!! Similarties between you and Ron is that you are both nice people, courteous and very professional.
Reminds me of time we broke down in our horsebox just outside peterborough Showground on our way to Suffolk! with our Heavy Horse (Suffolk Punch) , we Had to shut the road too! they didn't want to do it until they realised the size of my Punch! was a long day for all as on the way home 2 bridges was shut so we had to go the long way!
I imagine your breakdown was also because of a reluctance to spend money on preventative maintenance. It costs hundreds of thousands of pounds an hour to close major roads. Still, it’s not your problem, hey?
So I learned a new term today, "horsebox!" I always wonder what would happen if a vehicle transporting horses were to experience some peril. That went very smoothly. We'll want to make sure yo get plenty of batteries! Thanks for the cool video!
I am impressed that the Highways Agency would close both lanes of the motorway. It takes away a lot of the stress for the horses. Which is obviously much more ideal for the owners. Although I am sure that many motorway drivers would not be happy if they knew. I am surprised that the HA would do this. Full credit to them for doing so.👏👍🤝😊🥰
@@911HRW Hard to explain simply but in like the USA its usually the state department of transport.. its sort of a group or govt agency tasked with keeping the motorways (highways) running... maintainence, responding to incidents, accidents and so on
There’s only 2 occasions you will see the M4 completely shut down, 1 is horse box transfer and recovery and other is for police to search for doughnuts in there “police incident”
Love the vids so far man. Funniest is how i came upon your channel purely because of having the same name as me XD. Greetings from belgium and it's interesting to see what you get up to with the recoveries.
@@HeavyRecoverywithSteve went past 5 times I'm a bulker artic, feeding one of our bagging plants. Saw the fuel van there on my last pass. Thought it was more than a lift and shift!! I ll give you a flash next time I see you. Stay safe.
Hi I have two questions for you. First 1, do you tape the reges before recording and second question is that is the number plate lights your put on connect to your truck ones or do they just flash hazards
Hi Christopher, yes i am having to cover number plates and blur or cover company names to enable to film.Trailer board i use is wireless and gets its signal from truck lights.
Just came across your channel last week and hooked love the videos but one thing that annoys me is why when your at a breakdown on the motorway etc can they not Red X the lane next to you....also the amount a folk that don't move over out a respect is shocking #staysafe
Thanks very much for watching and welcome , they Red X lane closure got to be inforced more with these Smart Motorways people breaking down on them our like sitting ducks, until Highways Agency arrive.
As far as I can tell iveco bought ford cargo and it seems that they Co branded them for several years. Similar to daf which used to be Leyland daf in the uk

Hi Steph, you're very welcome, I'm glad it went smoothly. Me and Paul pleased we could be of assistance, take care.
Hi from NZ. Glad you.your horse and dog were OK. Bloody horseowner's nightmare! They don't stop the traffic here.

People slag the wombles off but they do a cracking job and keep recovery drivers safe.
You'd be hard pressed to get the highway patrol here in the US to do that for you maybe stop one lane if you are lucky.
You made traffic news on radio 2 this afternoon!

Hi Neil, Highways have to shut both carriageways just in case horses get spooked and jump central reservation into other lanes of moving traffic.
Who’s the Highways Agency?
@@911HRW the highway agency

Well done Steve😁
Another top vid Steve ! Waiting for that wrecker tour and spec info. But interesting one this time !! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Coming soon!
Great work as always, enjoying seeing your videos! Really interesting to see how you deal with animals when they're involved in a recovery
Thanks for watching!
I used to hate working on horse boxes, especially when the box is above the cab so you can't tip the cab to get to the engine properly.
really like your vids I wish I could watch all your vids I watched 4vids
Great video as always Steve
Glad you enjoyed it

Police incident is usually a person on a bridge.
Great video Steve, love the rig very well set up, keep up the good work mate 👍 watching from New Zealand 🇳🇿

Great video thanks. It didn't look to take long at all to load that, I guess a second pair of hands helped.
Thanks for watching, yes team work, Paul's a top bloke and always willing to help out with loading we lucky to have him.
Was that you with the bin lorry in the lay-by at the top of Reigate Hill Thursday afternoon? Was going to beep. Truck look great.
Hi Neil, yep that was me mate. Dustcart had leaking fuel tank so was waiting for fuel drain company.

The rescue horsebox, I noticed it had both a Ford badge and an Iveco badge on it. What's up with that?
