I fully relate to the pains of being a cat parent, my Bonnie jumped on the kitchen top the other day and collided with a piping hot electric kettle. Did it stop her from doing that? Absolutely not 🙃. There's a reason she probably thinks her name is "are you fed up with your life?"
When it comes to Heartstopper, I like how first Nick called Charlie "mon amour" in the Louvre and then almost told him that he loved him after the prom and Charlie's still like "oh, I don't want to pressure him into saying I love you, too" I mean, dude... 😀
I absolutely love this clip! I have watched it so many times already and it always brings a big smile to my face! Nick and Charlie are just so adorable! The wait until October 3 is absolutely killing me. Knowing what will happen from reading the comics has made my anticipation so much worse because there are so many scenes that I can't wait to see and I know Joe and Kit are going to be phenomenal!
The teaser was just enough to keep me satisfied for now. I hope they never stop looking at each other the way they do... it's beyond adorable. Oh also, I like the short hair a lot! I know it's not what you wanted but I think it really works!

I’m hoping (and pretty sure) that this is an edited down version of a more fleshed out scene. I really want to hear Tori say “He’s obsessed with you”
As an editor, I would bet my left foot that this scene is cut down to fit the pacing of the promo and song. It is WAY too fast-paced to be the actual scene in the show. Particularly because it’s probably the opening scene!
I’m actually wondering if we might get this scene intercut with some others of the rest of the Paris squad getting ready for the beach. That would be a fun opening!
This video killed me! For multiple reasons 😂. First and foremost the clip is PERFECT and your dissection of it was PERFECT ❤ Thank you for jumping on it and doing it for us in such timely manner 🤗. Thank you for including the comic pages (may I point out that you didn't notice that Charlie's hair is doing the same thing as in the comic where a little flick sticks out from the back of the cap 😊), and for pointing out that non readers wouldn't exactly know how the I love you text was left, so the clip gives them some peace if mind.
This video has so much more quality content though! 😆 Darla's kitchen worktop acrobatics and fiddling with the toaster 🤭 is priceless.

Thom, your comments are so REVEALING. In this day and age of sensory bombardments we have to watch a scene 5 times to get all its details ingrained on our battered hard drive (aka brains). Thanks for the detailed recension of this clip AND its minute comparison to the book version: so illuminating 💡👍.
I loved the Darla interruptions: stealing attention is a feline specialty and always will be. Rubbing cheek and upper jaw bones is a sign they’re making their territory. She probably senses you pay more attention to your morning toasts than to her when you prepare for breakfast 😂
I actually think Charlie wears short sleeves more frequently in the comic than he has in the show. In this scene in the comic he’s just wearing short sleeves, in the show he’s got his cardigan! In the comic he also wears short sleeves on some of their days out in Paris, while on the show I think he always wears an overshirt or a thick sweater, except when they’re in their hotel room/in PJs.
I'm so happy we got this scene from the comics, it's the best way to highlight this season honestly. Charlie is stressed, they are still both in love with each other and Tori is tired of Charlie not realizing that him and Nick are perfect couple goals. ALSO this is kinda lame cause it from people posting pictures from them filming which does spoil stuff, but that looks like their beach outfits so that means we get this moment on the beach date, which means this episode is gonna Destroy Us! :) Very happy for Jenny that she doesn't have to wear the giant wig and gets a cute little haircut! lol A shame show watchers will not get the hilariously cute Oliver moments but it'll be worth it for all teh cuteness and emotional rollercoaster we will be on. I don't know if i can wait until October for this cause i NEED IT XD

13:25 It is possible that they made a U.S. version of the books. I was a book editor in the ‘90s. When we bought books from other English-speaking countries, we often edited them to be slightly more Americanized. Like changing “vest” [darn autocorrect] to “tank top.” I don’t follow AO’s interviews about how they wrote the books, so I might be wrong about Heartstopper in particular. I’m just noting what we did when we bought the U.S. rights to a book. (Edited to fix typo)
From what I understand, they absolutely did make a U.S. version of the books with different word choices ("jock" instead of "sportish sort of lad" is one example that comes to mind). In this video, I'm going from the web version of the comics posted by Alice on Tapas, so I believe it's the original UK? But I could be mistaken about that, of course. :)

I've been stressed out for MONTHS because I saw leaks of the beach scene (it's almost impossible to avoid them at this point) and saw that Charlie wasn't wearing a cap. I was so disappointed, thinking that we wouldn't get that scene. BUT WE GOT IT! Screw leaks, they really spoil the fun. 🙃
Also, excuse me but the way Nick looks at Charlie in the doorway. The smile, the crinkly eyes. I've never seen anything cuter. I fully melted. 🫠
Is it too early to ask for the day off from work? 🤔 I keep having to rein myself in because I'm so hyped up for October, but I still have a whole summer to enjoy before then haha. 😅
I don't think having the little boy would work simply because of time. The story of Heartstopper has, so far, been about 3 months their time, but three years are time. So, unless you replaced it with a new little boy each year, it would be pretty obvious that it's been much longer than 3 months.
Absolutely! As I said, I completely understand why they didn't include Oliver - it's just a shame we miss out on some of the great moments his character gives us in the comics. :)
It might be just the camera angle but has Nick/Kit got taller since season 2?
I'd say Charlie is wearing a cardigan (affectionately known as a cardie) rather than a jumper or sweater. If Nick's garment is supposed to be worn under a shirt I'd call it a vest but if it's meant to be worn by itself as here, I'd call it a tank top.
Interesting! I've always thought of "sweater" as being the broader category and "cardigan" being a type of sweater, though that may be a specifically regional thing. Either way, Charlie's sweaters/cardigans/jumpers are always great!
@@thom_is_trans I'm starting to wonder now how typical my usage is, but for me a cardigan has buttons down the front, a jumper is a thin, light garment with a V neck, and a sweater is heavier and thicker with a round or roll-up neck.

I think this particular scene is the one place where the absence of Oliver actually does make the scene less, somehow. That interaction where Oliver almost tells Nick is adorable and very realistic to the dynamic of having a much younger sibling (I speak from experience) who has no filter. But it's still Heartstopper, so it'll still be amazing. I can't wait!!!
I have read all 5 volumes of the books so i have some idea of the story line in season 3. I have heard that Oliver Coleman is not going to be in it. Nick's mum plays an important role in the story I'm wondering how it is going to be handled
I’ve read that people think the aunt will be the one to talk to Nick instead of his mum since Olivia won’t be there. I’ve also heard that she does want to be in S4 if she can.
Maybe it’s because I watched S1 of Heartstopper first and *then* read Volumes 1-4, but I’m not really an Oliver fan. I absolutely love Tori and Charlie’s relationship. The actors’ sibling chemistry is perfect. I’m glad it’s just the two of them.
