- Today's movie reaction is Encanto. It was a really fun watch, but what I really enjoyed the most was the message behind this film. Enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

"No YOU need to stop!"
Say that to your abuela. I wanna see you do it
Oh I would get the chancla and more
Why do you want to watch him die?!
Somone said that the true miracle is having an abuela admit she's wrong.
*boromir* "one does not simply walk into a Latina abuela and tell her she is wrong"
@@marcusfridh8489 I 1000% believe that 😅😅😅
What always pissed me off is the fact that Mirabel is stuck in the NURSERY just because she has no gift. She's a TEENAGER, give her a room ffs
As much as I want her to have had her own room, seeing that Antonio is the only family member who isn't plagued by psychological damage, having her in the nursery and taking over the bulk of raising him was a very good thing.
@@HenryLoenwind Yeah...but then once he had his room she would have been alone in a tiny room (compared to the others) until the next baby came along and then would be stuck sharing with a baby again
The positives & negatives of staying in the nursery are both true. But I saw another comment that pointed out the ultimate clue of what Mirabel's fate was all the way at the start of the movie, & it's the nursery's location, which most people don't pay attention to. The nursery is in the center of the house on 1 side, exactly opposite to Abuela's room. Makes sense right, since when Casita was built Abuela would need the nursery as close to her as possible? So the fact that Mirabel wasn't given a separate room with a different door meant she was already in the room she needed to have! In the center of the family, watching over them. So right from the start, the house was trying to tell everyone that Mirabel was the one best suited to be the next matriarch, & the matriarch doesn't get a "gift" that makes them focus on 1 ability, 1 role in the family & town. The matriarch needs to be the center that keeps them all together. So she needed to have the boring little room which would make her subconsciously want to go out of it & interact with all the family.
@@tamarasmith9060huh, that's actually a really good way to look at it, thanks!
Lin Manuel Miranda did the songs, he's also responsible for the music from Moana AND the Musical "Hamilton"!
def need to watch UP next!
Bring the cleanex tissues
Another movie you should check out is "Equlibrium" with Christian Bale, it has some action scenes that will melt your mind. As much as I would like to, I won't say anything about it so I don't spoil anything, but to quote my brother the first time he saw it "HOLY S***!!!".
You need to hit up “Book of Life” next. Another day of the dead tale.
This is not around with your beautiful story with gorgeous visuals but the soundtrack is banging
Encanto 2
Plz react to the Selena series
A lot of people think her wiping her hands on her dress messed it up.
Creators disproved that…. She just has sweaty hands when she’s nervous
A lot of people also think Dolores is the true villain because her power is actually terrible when you think about it. When your hearing is so sensitive that you can hear someone's eye twitching, being able to hear everything within a mile radius would be a nightmare. She should've been able to hear the cracks but didn't back up Mirabel's claims. She even admits multiple times to hearing Bruno in the walls. She's also the only one not smiling in the family door picture at the end when the miracle returns.
The theory is that she wanted the miracle to die so she could go back to normal hearing.
@@Arkainjel she could hear everyone's secrets and blackmail too Abula probably wants to hear every gossip in town
Isabela gets a lot of flack because this movie is from Mirabel’s POV so people are unable to see Isa as anything other than the way Mirabel views her. But isa is the first of the grandchildren so Abuela puts a lot of pressure on her to be perfect and that probably increased after Mirabel didn’t get a gift. I think Isa resented Mirabel for being able to just be herself
Also imagine the pressure to marry and have five, six children just for the good of the family. That's... A lot.
There is also the fact that Isa looks a lot like Abuela Alma did when she was younger, and Mariano Guzman looks so much like Abuelo Pedro. We see her saying over and over what a perfect match it's going to be, but it's clear that this wasn't Isa's choice of husband, it's _Alma's_ choice. Somehow, it seems like she got it in her head that Isa HAD to marry Mariano because that's the only way Alma and Pedro can get their happy ending.
I think Dolores is the oldest, the first one. But Isabela looks a lot like young grandma. And Mariano looks a lot like abuelo, that´s why abuela wanted them to marry, and that's why there is so much pressure on Isa to be perfect, as she was seen as a reflection of Alma. So everybody says that Isa's gift is perfection instead of being growing plants, because all of her efforts go towards being perfect, and flowers make a perfect aesthetic.
For me, I think the saddest moment in this movie that makes me ugly cry every time is the flashback of Mira as her door disappears. Her precious little baby face looks so confused and sad and then she turns back to Abuela with this devastating look of shame. That baby was FIVE and her go-to reaction was to feel ashamed because it must be her fault, and now she hasn't made her family proud, etc.
Ugh, just soul-crushing.
Man, poor baby Mirabel's face is just crying out, "Abuela, what did I do wrong?"
The most gut wrenching part for me was the "I'm fine, I am totally fine. I can sit on the side while you shine." Just trying to stay happy and okay so she doesn't burden anyone or look weak. Only to just be completely awash with the I'm not fine in the following line. I tear up every time
@@desimosi579 The final lyric gets me, too: "Am I too late for a miracle?"
The way I've always interpreted the movie is that Mirabel is going to take over the role Abuela holds.
The original miracle didn’t give Abuela a gift, she was just who kept the family together. But someone else will have to take that role when she's gone, and the magic knew it would be Mirabel.
That's why you mainly only see Casita interact with Abula and Mirabel. And why the vision depended on Mirabel
Exactly. She now gets the Master Bedroom as she is the head of the Household. I want to see an official follow up short video... I would love a whole movie but I would be satisfied with a short!
She didnt get a gift, becourse she is the gift. The true heir of the candle. The heir to the role of Key master.
@@marcusfridh8489 I love that even though she technically is the next candle holder, she isnt because the candle went out. She is the new holder of the magic and she doesnt need the candle because she is the new gen and has her own version of the candle (i think the doorknob/ front door)
@@OfferedThoughts A follow-up short story? How about this storyline:
3 months later, it is the day of the yearly town meeting of the heads of all families. We start in the town square, where Abuela asks, "Where's Mirabel? Luisa, find Mirabel!" Luisa runs off, relaying the request to other family members until all of them are spreading out and looking for Mirabel with their gifts (Antonio sending out animals, Pepa writing in the sky with clouds, etc.). In the end, all of them find her, and they proceed to the town square, where Mirabel asks Abuela what's up. She gets told that it's her job to represent the family. She's confused and flustered, but all her family members nod. As she enters the assembly hall, the family breaks out in song. "We trust you. You gave a new foundation."
A bit too much on the nose, but that's why nobody ever asked me to write a Disney movie... ;)
I love how the family powers are all based on classic family dynamics. The mom with the 'healing' cooking, the cousin who hears every bit of gossip, the teen who's constantly mimicing his parents trying to figure out who he is, the strong older sister carrying the family burdens, the uncle who had some family drama go on that you were too young to know about. I think its neat how they managed to get pretty common superpowers derived from something so simple
I love that though out the movie, Pepa was the harshest of Bruno, but at the end when he was reunited with the family, Pepa was the first to hug him
She wasn't angry. She was hurt. She just wanted her brother back. She expressed anger because it's easier for her to deal with than grief.
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for 'Encanto'. 'We Don't Talk about Bruno', besides being a great song, is a wonderful musical pun. There is a medieval musical form that starts with several individual melodies, which are later sung together, blending perfectly. '...Bruno' follows this musical form, which is called a 'madrigal'.
Also, look carefully in the background during Dolores' section of '...Bruno'. You'll catch sight of Bruno on the balcony.
The animal you're thinking of is a capybara.
Notice that the story Abuela tells at the beginning is a sanitized version. We see the truer version during 'Dos Orugitas'.
Antonio guiding Mirabel to the door of the rebuilt Casita is a mirror image of Mirabel escorting him for his Gift ceremony.
Mirabel didn't get a door during her Gift ceremony because she didn't need one. Casita had already chosen her to be Abuela's successor as Guardian of the magic, and her door is the door of the house.
people can say whatever they want about Lin Manuel but you cannot say he isn’t a brilliant writer, cringey yes but aren’t all us theatre kids😂
Right!
Louisa's song always makes me cry. I was babysitting my cousin who put this on an my gosh i was trying not to bawl while they sat beside me
"I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service" had me ugly crying right there in the theater.
@@pompe221 When I first heard that line, I think I sat there in shock for about 5 seconds before I started tearing up.
There’s a fan theory that Antonio wasn’t planned. He’s 10 years younger the Camilo and Mirabell. They think after the failed gift Alma didn’t want to wait for the next generation to see if there would be more gifts
I feel like he would have come along sooner if that was true, though. There's five whole years between Mirabel not getting her gift and Antonio being born. Maybe the decision to have another kid was partly influenced by it, but I don't think it was the sole reason
@@CoRLex-jh5vx it could have taken some persuasion to do it. They may have been happy with 2 kids
@@JulieShockalso the triplets would’ve been 40 when Mirabel didn’t get her gift, it may have taken time for both the convincing and for the conception.
For at least some segments of We Don't Talk About Bruno, the filmmakers hired dancers to create and move through the choreography, to give the animators a visual reference. So much work went into this movie!
If you look at it. She was true with what she sang about, she did move a mountain, she helped flowers grow, she healed what was broken.
How is he not crying during Dos Oruguitas? I was sobbing the first time I saw Encanto.
He was tearing up!
Mirabel is voiced by Stephanie Beatriz, Rosa from Brooklyn 9-9 and Isabella is Crazy Jane from Doom Patrol. Bruno is John Leguizamo and Mirabel's dad is Wilmer Valderrama.
And now she is voicing Vaggie in Hazbin Hotel
It’s sad how quickly people forgot about this movie. When Strange World came out, everyone was comparing that to Puss in Boots 2, forgetting Encanto’s existence
If you haven’t checked it out yet another good animated film inspired by Mexican culture it The Book of Life.
Plus, if I remember right it was either produced or directed by Guillermo Del Toro
Encanto is from Colombian culture though not mexico
encanto is not mexican culture it's colombian

I never thought of Abuela saying “The magic is STRONG, and so are the drinks.” as her calling Mirabel drunk before, but honestly that makes so much sense and I like it lol.
Mirabel didnt get any gift, becoursr she is her own gift to the family, she is the rock, when the rest of the family and casita is in chaos. And she is the heir of the candle. The key master of the other family member's gifts.
If you're looking for another great animated movie w/ Hispanic roots, defs check out The Book of Life. It's such a great film, and so beautiful!
The Matriarch is *the* most important part of any family. It is also the most stressful and the most thankless. All that a Matriarch does, all that she sacrifices so that others can be happy. Cassita and the Candle needed to ensure that Mirabel could handle that awesome responsibility. A matriarch's magic is showing everyone else their own. No one could do what they do without them!
Recommendation: If you are looking for another great story with some good songs try Hercules. Yeah it is in *NO* way similar to the myths. However considering it had to be adapted for families it's understandable how Disney took it. The Muses however...on freaking point!
Mirabel said in her song "I'm ready!" and the magic said "bet"
Damn, R.I.P this channel, cuz you know bro flipped a table and gave the boss the finger with how hard he quit after this emotional Rollercoaster 😂
Bruno is Tino of the year
One of my favorite design details is that Bruno sees the future, and his color is green. The only other green thing in the family is mirabelle's glasses 💚
@34:57 The waveback. 🥰
Also, all the fist pounding 🤣
I love Luisa's song, its like its was made for me. All the pressure... 😭
Loved your insight into Mirabel's "gift" - subbed!
You probably could have watched it in Spanish. I've seen the movie, and reactions, so many times I know most of it anyways, even in a language I don't speak. I think there's a fair share Encanto reaction enjoyers that are the same.
This is my first time watching you, but I was so excited to see how you would react to my favorite scenes. The ending always makes me cry when they finally see Mirabel for who she is. On a random note, you remind me so much of someone but I can not figure out who 🤣
01:04 - 01:09 🤭 26:38 - 26:48 Everyone assumes abuela...am I the only one who recognized Isabela immediately?Look at that hair!!
Casita is possibly my favourite Disney adorable "animal" sidekick. Also if you want "Try not to cry, level: Impossible" check out my favourite movie from Studio Ghibli: Grave of the Fireflies. It is set in Japan in 1945...
Hint: during "We don't talk about Bruno", look for him on the balcony when Delores is singing her song!
In regards to other animated movies. I love Treasure Planet, Fern Gully, Titan A.E also anything from Stufio ghibli :D
Just subscribed after being entertained by the angry table banging lol
I highly recommend reacting to the Saban's Power Rangers Movie from 2017. staring Ludi Lin who played Liu Kang in live-action Mortal Komat , Dacre Montgomery who played Billy in stranger things, Naomi Scott who played Jasmine in the live-action Aladdin movie, Bryan Cranston who played Walter White in Breaking Bad, and Elisabeth Banks who played Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games. pleasee
Road to El Dorado is a great movie with great music if you havent seen it 😊
Now you have to watch “the book of life”

Obviously I love animation, so I'm glad to direct people to my faves. I avoided a _lot_ of the older ones (Aladdin, Little Mermaid) because, honestly, they don't hold up as well on rewatching. This is 90% to do with the voice acting, which was usually done by people you never heard of because it was 'for kids' and no one put serious money or effort into it. Even The Secret of Nimh suffers from this, but the story is pretty danged awesome and an example of a _well done_ kick-ass female character. Aladdin has three well-voiced characters, but none of them are the _main_ characters, which is unfortunate... still, I think _maybe_ it could be added to the list. Ooo! Lion King. That one's pretty well done as well.
I hope you have a great time exploring these movies. :) And I hope lotsa other people vote for them because it's hard to find single people reacting to them (not that they don't have significant others, but that they're alone when they react, which I prefer, not into crowds or even duos reacting, I find it too distracting).
Adding A Goofy Movie because it’s wonderful but very underrated.
Lilo and Stitch
An American Tail (and it’s sequel)
Enchanted (semi animated)
Great reaction, had a fun time seeing your thoughts on it! Keep up the good work
19:02 "He might need to work with some top artists." 😂 I'm dying. Lin-Manuel Miranda IS a top artist.
"You guys have probably seen this movie" Oh...you have no idea how many times I've watched this movie...
Mirabel’s power is to be Super Basic
children are brutal. lol
Bruno can tell the future so the family and the village assumed if they get their future told by him it will be all good news and when it wasn't they assumed he was a bringer of bad luck.
I love this movie! Dont know if you noticed but Pepa was like 50 when the little boy was born. A lot of people think that the grandma made her have him cause Mirabel didnt get a gift.
40 something not 50
You should get on the uk reactions again bro, like the sidemen, beta squad, niko omilana etc. Your reactions to those were the ones I enjoyed the most
