    I handle a lot of questions on this week's Q&A. We start by talking a little Star Wars. Specifically, which is better? Revenge of the Sith or Rise of Skywalker.
    I speak about topics such as; my favorite comedy film, where I like to sit in the theater, my favorite hobbies and how I like my eggs. I also talk about wether or not I think the new Fantastic Beasts movie can be any good. Finally, I address a question I've seen come up a few times now. Is Marvel cinema? Whatever that means...
    Chapters:
    0:00 Intro
    0:10 Q1: Do you like the Star Wars prequels now?
    1:37 Q2: Revenge of the Sith or Rise of Skywalker?
    2:44 Q3: What's your favorite comedy?
    3:45 Q4: What's your favorite place to sit in the theater?
    4:50 Q5: What hobbies do you enjoy?
    7:56 Q6: Do you think Fantastic Beasts 3 can be good?
    8:53 Q7: How do you like your eggs?
    9:10 Q8: What was your first R-rated movie?
    10:29 Q9: What food(s) do you dislike?
    11:38 Q10: Defend Terminator: Dark Fate!!
    13:54 Q11: What is the worst comic book movie?

    Adam you should 100% watch the 80s Supergirl movie. Its simultaneously “so bad its good” like Catwoman and surprisingly well made. The great cast makes it worth your time. They elevate a weird script into 80s cinema gold. Trust me man, fun for the whole family.

      @TonyPaulazzo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Came here to say the same thing, the cast are excellent, Faye Dunaway and Peter O'Toole ham up their villainous characters like there's no tomorrow, Supergirl is played really sweetly and the sfx hold up surprisingly well (tho' it has been a long time and I was probably more forgiving back then), but practical effects age far better than CGI. Seriously, worth a watch!

    A fun thing to do if you are not happy with your own LEGO designs, is to get into modding. Build a set that you have instructions for but with your own color scheme, theme... Batman's Millennium Falcon? Harry Potter's Hulk Buster? Everything is possible...

    If a movie movies audiences, it’s considered cinema, it doesn’t need to be HIGH ART or something like that, it just needs to be movingly emotional to be memorable and interesting
    So yes Marvel IS cinema, yet DCEU fans would want their movies praised to no end, so Marvel deserves that praise too (not that it doesn’t on it’s own but people can be two faced about this stuff and it’s annoying)

    I would pick Revenge of the Sith for sure. But it might be because it was the first Star Wars movie I saw in theatres. Loved it then and love it now. Rise of Skywalker is just a disaster because of Last Jedi ruining the characters and it just seeming so totally predictable. Nothing from it comes close to the Order 66 scene, with John Williams’ amazing score, one of the all time best Star Wars moments.

    15:17 Marvel movies are like rollercoasters or theme park rides for the most part. Sure, they can be fun and entertaining at the moment, but with few exceptions, I have never thought about a Marvel movie I've seen two days later or two weeks, two months, or two years later. They're very shallow and surface entertainment. There is little to no depth in terms of thought-provoking themes. They can be fun as hell though and are worth seeing on a big screen for the full cinematic experience, but far too many of those films these days are interchangeable or forgettable once one has left the theatre.
    As I always say, the best movies ever made are the ones you think about several months later or many years, even decades later because the characters, stories, and themes or cinematography or soundtracks resonated with you.

      It's interesting that people are isolating Marvel movies. Is the umpteenth live-action Disney remake "high art"? What about Jaws 3D? Or another Star Wars spinoff? I agree that there's a label delineation between most Marvel movies and a Scorsese / FFC / Spielberg et al flick. I just think that same label applies to most Disney films atm. Also, the second part of Scorsese's thesis, that the MCU was "killing" cinema... How does he know? Where are the stats to back that up? Maybe the MCU encouraged people to be more avid filmgoers.

    Man, I know I've probably seen Terminator first, but I always say RoboCop. We're around the same age. I always remember ED-209 blazing that guy and Murphy getting his limbs blown off. I also, remember when the bad guy was, standing over Lewis, undoing his pants, I knew something wasn't right. Possibly could have been my first memory of sexual assault in a movie, even though it didn't happen. Then later RoboCop asks the woman if she was raped. Talk about a movie that was dark and comedic at times. Rode the line perfectly, in my opinion.

    I think what Martin Scorsese meant by MCU is that they're just movies to enjoy not Oscar bait well made films. But one Marvel movie that should be considered cinema is Logan (2017). That film is art! Not my number 1 favorite Marvel movie but it is the best made Marvel movie.

  • @ozy667
    @ozy667 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes they are cinema, but that doesnt mean anything really, The room is cinema, any movie is cinema. The actual question should be are these movies good? Does a movie with a generic plot, with dialogue filled with bad referential jokes for children, with no actual meaning or any focus at all on writing other than excuses for the same predictable half an hour battle with the villain of the week, is a movie like that any good? There are not even consequences in these movies, since they are all safe movies, they just keep getting back to the status quo as if nothing happened time and time again, Thanos killed half of the universe and what happened? Puff they are all back by the next movie. These movies are shlock, products to sell toys and merchandise and nothing else really, there is nothing wrong with liking trash tho, just dont deny its trash. "Fun" trash, but trash.

    • @ninjanibba4259
      @ninjanibba4259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If people are emotionally moved by this “trash” as you call it, then it’s clearly more than your comprehension, it doesn’t matter if it’s product on surface level, what’s below the surface is what people enjoy and it’s not all action, there are real flaws and arcs the characters go through and it’s earned
      So to call it trash is subjective to someone like you, doesn’t make it so
