Thank you! LMAO! Yes you did that was my cue to my daughter to use her inside voice while I was recording lol we were playing with beanie babies in between sets haha
I love the idea of repurposing the spare tire location while also keeping the weight low. Wish I had known of this before getting my rooftop water setup.
You’ve got me convinced this is the only way to go. Love to see a setup where you connect two of them together though the Boondocker looks like it’ll sort my issues. How do you fill it? How do you know when it’s full?
Yes this is the way! The new boondocker is sick! I would definitely get the boondocker you can fill it without having to take the tanks off. Right now I take the tanks off refill and hang back up.
That’s a really awesome idea to carry 6-12 gal of water and save space. Do you mind providing a parts list, especially for the parts used for the tank? Thanks in advance!
planning on buying myself a 6 gallon one but have a quick question. what size of spare mounting ring you needed if you do need em? SMALL MEDIUM or LARGE? I do also have a toyota 4 runner 5TH GEN...TIA
Awesome! They just released a new model called the boondocker, check it out! It’s sweet. I believe it’s a medium for the 5th gen’s. Shoot them an email and double check!
Thanks for the comment! The tanks are awesome, especially when your packing a ton of gear and don’t want a big water tank taking up all your space in the back of your truck. Or worry about water spilling on things. But to each their own! Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
Nice job man! Did I hear a Dad snap when you were trying to connect your hoses to the pump at the end of the video?

Great job! Looks like your gonna need NIAGARA Two-Way Hose Saver Shut-off Adapter to connect both tanks.
Thank you! That’s a great idea 🤙🏼
i need me a link to all the items you used for the spigot build.. thanks man!
Please please please
I’ll see what I can get for you!
@@bfm_overlandany update on the spigot?
Whats the ID and OD of the washer?
Great video. I was thinking of doing something similar before my trip to Big Bend last year, but I ran out of time. Maybe in the future...
Any issue with venting the tank while using the pump? Is it strong enough to pull a vacuum?
@RussellPecot no issues yet! I was ready to drill a hole on top and put a rubber plug but it seems to be working well without one.
How’s the water pump switching on and off ??
It’s 12v hard wired to my battery

Do I have to have the spare tire off in order to mount the 6 gallon spare tire jug or can I mount it with the spare tire already mounted?
Yes sir, spare tire needs to be off!
How do you vent for air with that tank? It shouldn’t flow unless there is an air release to replace the water with air.
I originally had a plan to drill a hole on top and put a rubber plug, but I haven’t had the need to lol don’t ask me but it works
Does the water get hot after long trips? Any issues freezing?
No issues freezing so far, did 2 nights in single digit temps and it was ok 👍
Water does get warm in summer, especially here in s. Texas
What did y’all think of the build?
Came out great! I need something like this on my truck now
Thanks man, Let me know if you have any questions!
Can u provide the link on the spigot n fittings tnx

@@jhorelteves3239 you just need to get larger washers I found mine at lowes
Thats a lot of work for a water tank. The pump is cool but the tanks are kinda dumb.
