Toriyama definitely did not want to make a statement about not needing fusion. The reason why Goku defeated Kefla is simply because it's Goku. He's the main character of the show. He'll always get the best fights, he'll mostly be heavily involved in the most important victories.

I really like kefla. Her design is fire and she’s a female saiyan which we don’t get to see many of and to mention he’s a fusion too. Thats fire. Obviously she’s nowhere near gogeta or vegito but i hope we get see more of the universe 6 saiyans later down the road
And not to forget : she has awesome attacks . No basic ki blasts we saw 100x before , she uses her ki with a great sense of technique . Its simply a Joy to watch her attacks
She went LSSJ2 I think. They were mmming because Goku's attacks were being dulled by his own thoughts and we're softening the blow. Goku isn't given enough credit for the idea of the Kamehameha. Since he normally can't move for it, the idea was very clever. I always liked how Kelfa had the colors of Kale and Cauliflas energy or had the texture of Cauliflas energy but green like Kale
I still remember watching the moment Goku point blanked Kefla with the Kamehameha. I screamed out “EAT IT!!!!” One of the most badass moments in super ❤

Also, I'd like to point out that the triple repeat at different angles as Goku fires his Kamehameha is just a thing of beauty. Really the icing on the cake. Goku's Mastery of the Kamehameha never ceases to amaze me. *EDIT:* Goku: "Behold, the power of Ultra Instinct." Easily one of Goku's best lines. 🔥.
Kefla is a cool addition. Remember the Kais said that Potara fusion doesn't just combine their powers, it multiplies their combined power by dozens of times over. So it's safe to say that Kefla's power is somewhere around SSJ2 Caulifla and Super Saiyan Berserk Kale, multiplied by like 50-100. That is godlike, it's the Saiyan race itself that is OP in Dragon Ball! Vegito Blue easily beats Kefla, just by sheer strength, but UI Goku has to rely on martial arts mastery.

In 40 years this anime has been out, it's always so good to see someone use "Kiai"💯. The first time we ever seen this move used was Goku as a kid in Dragon Ball OG 💯. But it was Tien to make the move look so cool. The "Kiai" is when someone use sheer force to stop an attack. But as time when on through the series, people have used this technique to fire the Kiai as an offense like we just saw in this episode, when Goku did that Air Punch💯
This is easily the most badass Kamehameha in the history of Dragon Ball. Before it was Goku's Kamehameha to Cell during the Cell Games. But for me this one trumps that moment. The slide on the energy beam using a charged energy ball on Goku's hands....and then followed up by a point-blank Kamehameha blast to Kefla's face 🤣 Damn it's so good. *But tbh if we go outside of the Kamehameha attack, this moment probably ties up with DBZA's version of Vegeta's Final Flash on Cell. 😅

That's wrong. Gohan is just much stronger in the manga than he is in the anime. Kale was ragdolling Golden Frieza who was blue Goku level and Goku had to step in to assist Frieza because he was getting his ass beat. They then fuse into an even stronger fighter who Gohan ends up stalemating.

Ya this fight for anyone wondering was changed from the manga to the anime. Gohan fights kefla, and the both lose the fight and knock each other out. That fight would make more sense and it shows gohan being strong again and not shoved to the sidelines, an kefla not being as strong as a god out of nowhere. These 2 girls have less training that goku and vegeta when they used the earrings against buu and kefla is shown as stronger then vegeto here
Keflas fusion power can kinda make sense though and be possibly spirit bomb level. Like if cabba and vegetas base are similar safe to say goku and u6 saiyans are around equal in base too and kefla was fighting on par with blue. If you don't wanna talk numbers then it seems like fusion skips at the very least like 2 transformations in power. If you choose to buy into it then the rest still makes sense. Vegito spanking super buu ✓ gotenks going ssj3 and being relative to buu ✓ gogeta grinding Janemba into spices ✓ ssj4 gogeta bullying shenron ✓ Vegito splattering jiren onto the pavement talking mad shite the entire time ? So he made a point that I wanna expand on, he said kefla reaching that power was op in a bad way. In the manga version of this arc kefla didn't scale to ultra instinct power level or ssblue, ultimate gohan fights kefla to a draw knockout in the tournament of power and that makes more sense to me.
Anime is more accurate. Considering how Kale smacked blue, Kefla had to be at least stronger than blue kaioken 20x. Jiren is the strongest, way better than ultra plot armor instinct.

I think people really underestimate the power of the Potara fusion. Vegito in DBZ's Buu Saga was able to humiliate Buuhan (who was threatening the universe with his power alone). A Super Saiyan 2 and that Beserk form fused... It's gotta be far past Ssj3 power and into the Blue god forms. Kefla is also competitive and prideful. So, she's going to push herself as far as the fusion can go.

Gotta give it to Kefla, though: When Goku shot Perfect Cell point blank with a full powered Kamehameha, it blew his head off, but she somehow survived.
Kefla as powerful as Spirit Bomb is not a big stretch. She is using a berserker part of Kale and that form can increase strength almost with no limits. The only part of this fight which did not make sense was at the beginning when base Kefla outperformed God Goku. In general SSG is heavily nerfed. SSG was miles ahead of SSJ3 in the first arc and suddenly it feels like it is only a minor power up over SSJ3.
One of best moments, i just loved it! The best or one of the best Kamehameha's hands down. Super may not be perfect but moments like this make up for it.
Man... just when you thought they couldn't top a Kamehameha blast with style, they did it again. I think hands down that's my favorite Kamehameha, but Vegeta still holds the Title of All Time Favorite Blast with Final Flash against Cell.

Although I love this, I preferred seeing Gohan defeat Kefla in the manga. Still an absolute baller episode. So much animation in Super is trash, all stiff and weirdly shaped faces, until you get to around the Tournament of Power and it begins looking more like Z did again. Love the ToP, minus Ribreanne and all the love stuff lol, it goes on for too long.
no both fusions are powerful matamarise is just limited by time and that is 30 mins and the potara fusion is unlimited but that is only if kais merge if some else race merges it wont last forever but it will still outlast the matamarise fusions time limit.

Ya this fight for anyone wondering was changed from the manga to the anime. Gohan fights kefla, and the both lose the fight and knock each other out. That fight would make more sense and it shows gohan being strong again and not shoved to the sidelines, an kefla not being as strong as a god out of nowhere. These 2 girls have less training that goku and vegeta when they used the earrings against buu and kefla is shown as stronger then vegeto here
Keflas fusion power can kinda make sense though and be possibly spirit bomb level. Like if cabba and vegetas base are similar safe to say goku and u6 saiyans are around equal in base too and kefla was fighting on par with blue. If you don't wanna talk numbers then it seems like fusion skips at the very least like 2 transformations in power. If you choose to buy into it then the rest still makes sense. Vegito spanking super buu ✓ gotenks going ssj3 and being relative to buu ✓ gogeta grinding Janemba into spices ✓ ssj4 gogeta bullying shenron ✓ Vegito splattering jiren onto the pavement talking mad shite the entire time ? Coulda happened.

So he made a point that I wanna expand on, he said kefla reaching that power was op in a bad way. In the manga version of this arc kefla didn't scale to ultra instinct power level or ssblue, ultimate gohan fights kefla to a draw knockout in the tournament of power and that makes more sense to me.
I don't know if I said it made sense with the way potara works to Gohan's little to no time training but it makes more sense then this at least.
Anime is more accurate. Considering how Kale smacked blue, Kefla had to be at least stronger than blue kaioken 20x. Jiren is the strongest, way better than ultra plot armor instinct.

I think people really underestimate the power of the Potara fusion. Vegito in DBZ's Buu Saga was able to humiliate Buuhan (who was threatening the universe with his power alone). A Super Saiyan 2 and that Beserk form fused... It's gotta be far past Ssj3 power and into the Blue god forms. Kefla is also competitive and prideful. So, she's going to push herself as far as the fusion can go.

Kefla as powerful as Spirit Bomb is not a big stretch. She is using a berserker part of Kale and that form can increase strength almost with no limits. The only part of this fight which did not make sense was at the beginning when base Kefla outperformed God Goku. In general SSG is heavily nerfed. SSG was miles ahead of SSJ3 in the first arc and suddenly it feels like it is only a minor power up over SSJ3.
Base Vegito was stronger than SSJ3 Goku in the Buu Saga so it isn't that big a stretch. Fusion is just that good.

The power scaling of Kefla has always been to ridiculous in my opinion.
Man... just when you thought they couldn't top a Kamehameha blast with style, they did it again. I think hands down that's my favorite Kamehameha, but Vegeta still holds the Title of All Time Favorite Blast with Final Flash against Cell.

After goku gets pissed that Jiren fires the blast to his friends, Jiren fires the blast out of his hands and goku UI body reacts by using tiny energy balls AGAINST Jiren’s attack. If you know what to look for you’ll see if but most people have to slow the clip down to see. AMAZING detail in that episode

Although I love this, I preferred seeing Gohan defeat Kefla in the manga. Still an absolute baller episode. So much animation in Super is trash, all stiff and weirdly shaped faces, until you get to around the Tournament of Power and it begins looking more like Z did again. Love the ToP, minus Ribreanne and all the love stuff lol, it goes on for too long.
no both fusions are powerful matamarise is just limited by time and that is 30 mins and the potara fusion is unlimited but that is only if kais merge if some else race merges it wont last forever but it will still outlast the matamarise fusions time limit.
