This is why Trunks (the future version of him) is among my favorite anime characters ever. He’s not dragging out the fight like Goku to satisfy his Saiyan battle lust. He’s not taking too long to torture his opponent for his own ego like Vegeta. And there’s no loss of control like Gohan. He just comes in, gives Frieza this work and turns the so-called “emperor of the universe” into the world’s nastiest chopped salad. And he did it with hardly any effort at all. All hail Prince Trunks, the Saiyan of the Future. 🙇♀️ 🙇♂️ 🙇

# 001 Out of all the saiyans we've seen transform for the first time, Future Trunks to this day is still my favorite. I liked how when he powered up, he has the glow, his eyes go into the trademark green color, but his hair doesn't go blond yet. It's as if not only they're hyping this up but also draws in the audience disbelief that someone else can go Super Saiyan while retaining Trunks's mysterious nature. Then when his hair finally goes into the blonde color we all know and love. At that point, the realization finally sets in for everyone! It's as if it's emulating the entire transformation sequence from Frieza's perspective. From pure disbelief, to shock, and then the fear setting in. (or excitement in our case) The animators truly nailed this scene superbly.

I remember Funimation putting footage from this episode into the opening animation back in 1996. I had already seen pictures of Trunks, so that only made the anticipation for the next story arc greater.

Also I don't know if anybody else has noticed this but if you really look at trunks in certain shots he has his father's face just with different eye color and head shape. But the eyes the nose and the mouth are on point especially when he's angry
