I think a big misconception people have with this topic is that they think of masculinity an beauty being mutually exlcusive. Pretty boys that are popular with women all have masculine features. Sharp jawline, good frame, lean body etc.

I think the main point that this video is missing is that just because on AVERAGE men or women prefer a certain look doesn't mean it applies across the board. Effeminate depictions of masculine beauty have existed for at least thousands of years, dating back to Greek myths depicted feminine heroes/Gods like Narcissus or Apollo as the peak of beauty. You also see it in Christian murals of "beautiful" males who have long flowing hair, smooth faces, and narrow jawlines. This preference isn't just a new generation trend.
There's a good chunk of women who genuinely prefer feminine-looking men, just as there are some men who are attracted to petite women and some who prefer voluptuous women. We all fill in different niches, and you'll see all across the board when it comes to human characteristics that there are always "groups" that are outliers from the norm, simply because evolution prefers diversity.

Idk but I’ve noticed that women who’s preference are non masculine men almost always happened to be bisexual women. Ofcourse there are bisexual women that are the complete opposite (as in they prefer masculine men/feminine women) but I noticed a BIG chunk of bi women tend to have a preference towards androgynous and feminine men. I wonder if for a lot of those bi women, does their sexuality influence certain preferences on the opposite sex.

That's a very interesting question and I'd also like so see a video about it. As a bi woman myself I tended to like more androgynous men in my teenage years but now I'd say I like masculine men and ''womanly'' women more (as opposed to ''girlish'' women) - taller and with stronger features, even though ''womanly'' women can be very feminine too, but I guess that could be because I'm tall and have stronger features myself and that maybe influencing my preferences as well.

I somewhat like androgynous look in men but only to a small extent. I like some features like pretty hair or/and big lips but the rest (eyes, jaw) has to be masculine. So for me it's more of a mixture of some soft features with mostly masculine ones.

I think what matters most is not just looking masculine, but actually *being* masculine when selecting a long term mate. I know a lot of men who might have a pretty boy face, but they are very strong mentally and have masculine traits such as a dominance, discipline, being less emotional etc. yet I also know some men who have big muscles, square jawlines, who are very “feminine” such as being more submissive, being more emotional/ freely expressing their feelings etc. My husband doesn’t have a very masculine face, but he has a very masculine personality (protective, providing, tendency to be a leader, more dominant, deep voice etc.) which is why I found myself attracted to him, despite his more “feminine” features, like an obtuse jaw line etc. but don’t get me wrong, my husband is by no means a pretty boy either, so I guess that’s why the studies fail to find an absolute conclusion to this matter

A mistake many people make is that they think masculinity and physical attractiveness go hand in hand no matter what which is only true to an extent. A man who has a face that is generally masculine with a strong, square jawline but has slightly softer features like a slender, medium to small-sized nose, slightly bigger eyes and slightly fuller lips (with the emphasis on slightly) is seen as the most attractive to women and a good happy medium. Go too far with the androgynous look and he looks too feminine and weak à la Timothée Chalamet, Paul Mccartney, Michael Jackson. Go too far with the hyper-masculine look and he looks like a scary monster or gorilla and is too intimidating à la Arnold Schwarzenegger, Triple H, Mike Tyson. What women want is basically Michelangelo's David or any sort of ancient Greek/Roman sculpture (outside the impossibly tiny man-part, of course) à la Brad Pitt, Sean O'Pry, David Gandy. Women are biologically more attracted to these types of men because they look masculine enough to be fertile and protective of her but not too masculine so he still looks warm and inviting and would be a good partner and parent to her children that doesn't leave her right away for the next sexy lady.

From 14-20, girls seemed like they prefered tall, skinny(perhaps with abs), blond guys with cuter/a bit feminine faces. I also remember when I was like 15-16 the girls would see any guy over 20 and would be like "he looks old".
From early 20s onwards, women switched to preferring tall, muscular men, with masculine faces, dark hair and beards. Sometimes with a tan and tattoos. Also, a lot of them started dating older guys, not 1-3 years older, but usually 5-10 years older. I guess it comes down to the fact that a lot of men can't grow a full beard till their late 20s, and getting a good physique takes ~4-5 years of consistent training and let's be honest here most teenagers don't start working out at 12. Money might also be a factor as well.

Anyway, usually loving somebody has nothing to do with their appearance, at least if you really do love them.

Like these more ‘effeminate’ looking men may be associated with positive character traits from a woman’s pov like a Harry styles type so it’s possible that some see the opposite of that, traditionally masculine looking men, to be less attractive cos they may harbour views/ possess traits that women see as not aligning with the ‘written by a woman narrative’ not that it’s necessarily the case or that women believe the stereotype to be true all the time, I think that look just fits with the trend so it’s sometimes seen as appealing depending on the context but especially online

Though today most film stars of either sex don't look like models any more than then. A lot of those actors were gay and played slightly off-beat or sinister characters. Bogart wasn't really cast in roles for a handsome guy, he usually played characters that were a little bit sleazy or something and he had the face for that (no offence to the legend). I'm still more inclined with the notion that testosterone is immunoregulatory rather than immunosuppressive (or having harmful effects) thus the current idea of T ornamentation may be incomplete or flawed. A 2016 study states the immune effects of T for a wide range of immune factors and that "most [older] studies either focus on a few indicators of immunity, are confounded by phenotypic correlation, or are observational." Medical professionals know that a stronger immune response is as bad as a weakened one.
Other recent studies about severe covid infections state that men with low T are at very high risk 9f death while a study about stomach inflammation says that testosterone acts to regulate inflammatory response and may have a protective effect on stomach cancers. Inflammation is a risk factor for developing cancers and autoimmune diseases. This is the reason why women are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases and certain cancers. Also, men with lower T tend to have elevated estrogens which also coincide with aging and a slightly higher cancer prevalence in older men than both younger men and women in general. Fyi, estrogens are listed alongside asbestos and nuclear exposure for potent carcinogenicity.

I think, if it is true that more attractive women prefer more masculine men, that an obvious reason could be largely about ego/insecurity. Like you said, a beautiful woman may feel more confident that a masculine won’t leave her, or at least that she could find another one. I’ve heard many women say things like “I couldn’t be with a man prettier than me” or “I don’t think I would date someone who was significantly more attractive than me.” (I personally can’t relate.) But I think they know that even on a day to day basis, she may feel insecure next to him.
But I think a POSSIBLE less obvious reason could be related to familiarity. I thought of this only when you mentioned that attractive women also preferred feminine traits in women. I remember you saying in one video something along the lines of ‘there are beautiful people in every race, and beautiful people are much like their own race.’ Because you were talking about the traits that tend to exist in beautiful people across the board. Could the slimness that exposes an attractive woman’s feminine traits and her good genetics be familiar to her? And could her male relatives also have attractive masculine traits that are familiar to her? And might the opposite be true for less attractive women?

No. The main reason it that people can get a divorce nowadays. The only thing that kept people together in earlier times was social pressure and the law.
The main reason why women are more likely to divorce is probably because they don’t profit from marriage the way men do. Statistically men who are married are healthier and happier than unmarried men but married women are less healthy and happy and die earlier than unmarried women. It’s because usually men create more work in the household, expect their wife’s to clean up after them, and tend to contribute less emotionally to the relationship. They also often don’t contribute enough to childcare.

@@katybee3891 no it's not because of that, marriage doesn't benefit women because today they have unlimited choice and they always feel like they can get a better deal. Men on the other hand have a huge stress over finding a partner (unless you are very handsome) so for us is better to be in a long term relationship where we don't have to stress over finding someone to procreate with. It has nothing to do with housework or stuff like that.

I’m a little masculine in features so I think I go for whatever I’m “missing” in looks in order to aim for better looking children, which is maybe a slighter build in men..I have pretty wide shoulders so I don’t go for super wide shouldered men etc. I’m not slim and frail so I don’t need a thick burly man..this would make more thick burly, hairy lol children..it’s a matter of balancing the ratio. My family runs short n stocky so I go for tall n slim..but that’s just baseline looks, and society, personality and experiences all affect it too..

@hello33 attraction is instinctive. Instinct exists for biological functionality. I don't want more kids (I already have 3) but my preferences for women still reflect the biological function of sex. I am attracted to women of reproductive age. I can love a woman who has run out of eggs but I can't desire her.

I regret the conceit this may reveal, but to answer the above question, this one does.
I'm postmenopausal. Significantly improving my health and vitality has brought my libido back with a vengeance. I've gotten and still get, more than enough male attention for my looks. My first husband was good-looking, fit, and eye-level with me. We had a strong-enough relationship but I constantly fantasized about bigger, more masculine men. My late (second) spouse was tall, strong, furry as hell, and had a luscious deep voice. As much as I'd like male company again, I can't get excited about anyone with less than my late mate's size and other sexual characteristics (fur, voice, etc.) I tried to dismiss these preferences most of my life, trying to "settle for." I'm good in my own company and I'll stay on my own rather than settle again for anything less. It's not fair to the man, either. Everyone deserves 100% love and admiration.

Masculine women say they love feminine men; people say that they're being a mother to their partners.
Feminine men say they love masculine women; people say that they're gay.
The only options people expect/accept/support is masculine men loving feminine women. People do not owe you any kind of background for their personal relationships and they don't have to be fetish based. Stop putting people into boxes just because you don't know any better.

I had a video request: most of your videos are about exploring what beauty is. I understand that achieving that ideal beauty is mostly either through genetics and proper habits from childhood or through expensive surgeries. However, attaining those as a teenager in a third world country is practically impossible. Therefore, I would request you to make a video that provides a 'cost-effective' detailed actionable plan and habits for us. A video that talks little about theory and more about what to do to make the most out of my situation. While I know that all of this isn't very effective compared to surgeries and habits from childhood, at least I'll have something to do.

Yes it's typical, ugly women love masculine looking men, in other words ugly men, hot women love hot men in general. The logic is simple, an ugly women will feel insecure being with a hot man, they don't want to be with a guy hotter than themselfs, unless you're very confident in yourself to date hot men. But being alone as a women is impossible, you have to pull apart from soceity to do that. You'll agree with this if I speak womanese. "Men are perverts" nearly any women is hot for men, just as long as she's feminim inside and out, just have long hair, and a skirt, (iconic silhouette of a female) and act feminim and you'll find love. A girl I used to date was deformed, she sort of looked like a man, but she wore makeup, had a wig and wore skirts this completly changed her look, but by doing this it boosted her ego becasue lots of men started to flirt with her, eventually she ended up cheating on me, and I'm like a lameduck still grinding without success.

I'd say some factor depends on the value someone places in the aesthetics, not only of the other person but of the couple too, It is undeniable that two similar looking people make a better couple looks-wise than the old myth of the 'pair of opposites' (fat and lean, very malculine and very feminine, very young and very old, beautiful and ugly etc), of all my girl friends the ones who tend to go for more masculine looking men are usually the same ones that say they don't care much about looks, while my more art-leaning, beauty-driven friends tend to like feminine boys and/or women, wich happens to be my preference too, i can't say for sure but there seems to be something going on there, that the more beauty-driven people (perhaps the very feminine beauty canon for both men and women in art influences too) tend to prefer the most graceful, elegant and feminine and hence generating a preference for less masculine men and women, seems to be a common trend for this kind of people, i also read something aboutw women in positions of power or yearning for it going for younger boyish looking men that they percibe as more controllable, tho i don't think in those cases the decision is driven by how pretty the guy is
