Awesome collection of gear there, tons of fun. The Pioneer XDJ1000Mk2 are great value if you want to use Rekordbox and you can basically buy 2 of them for the price of one CDJ2000NXS2. If you have to play CDs and need HID mode and want touchscreen search, well you will need to spend the extra $$$ on the 2000s. The other options for Rekordbox would be the smaller and cheaper XDJ700 but they lack the centre jogwheel position displays which would be mostly beneficial for scratch techniques. There are also the DDJ1000 or DDJ800 controllers if you don't need standalone operation. The DDJ1000 might have better jog wheels than the XDJ1000Mk2 as they have tension adjustments and you get 4 deck control and 2 jogwheels and pads and a Pioneer club mixer all in one package for the price of one XDJ1000Mk2. You don't get the touchscreen or standalone operation though. If you only need 2 decks and happy with smaller jogwheels the DDJ800 is a great option, especially for home, it's more compact design would be more practical for most of us
Hey @TheDJLab I had a quick question for you! I just ordered a set of these and was curious about your statement regarding the SP1. When I was researching things I did hear about the potential to integrate this piece of kit as a way to bring the hot cues (as well as other features) out from "behind" the touch screen to physical buttons. HOWEVER, what I read has lead me to believe that it requires you to be DJing from a laptop vs from a USB. My question is from your experience is the above statement inaccurate and can I just grab an SP1 and use smartlink + a USB, or was I correct in my initial assumption that a laptop on export mode is the only way to make this happen? Thanks in advanced 🔥
Thank you for the informative video! Had a few questions...Is there an audible differrence between the two? For example, playing the exact same song and format on each player, CDJ 2000 NXS2 and the XDJ 1000 MK2? What about actual performance as well?
There are different song cards in these two units but personally at home I don't hear a difference but I have noticed on big systems you can tell is it really that big of a difference I really couldn't say performance-wise I feel the X DJs are just as well
I feel like th9is is a silly question. But can -1000s act like a controller would, in the sense of track layers? If I have only two XDJ - 1000s can I mix four tracks, if my center piece (mixer) has four channels?
You upgraded from your CDJ-2000s to the XDJ-1000MK2s, and this caught my attention. I currently have 2 CDJ-2000NXS decks and the DJM900NXS2 mixer. Been toying about updating my CDJs to these vs the NXS2s (crazy pricey for minimal upgrades from my NXS). My biggest concern is the build quality. I know the OG NXS can take a beating (I'm a mobile DJ), and want to know if things like the CUE and PLAY/PAUSE buttons feel solid, does the platter quality feel identical to the NXS... not so much how it moves/feels for scratching, but again, that build quality. I just want to make sure I'm not getting these for the features, but end up with decks that are not as "hardy" as the CDJ2000 line. Seeing as it's been 2 years since this was posted, how's long term quality? If I were to get these, I would also pickup the DDJ-SP1 or XP1 for faster access to hot cues and other things that are only on the touchscreen on these XDJs. Thoughts and insights would be greatly appreciated 😄
I am not a mobile DJ they don’t leave my place but I have lots of people that come and use them and so far they seem good enough for me. The jog wheel is not adjustable And they don’t have as high of a sampling rate as the 2000 nexus2. Me personally I have no issues with them but I do not take them out and hook them up to big systems and do gigs with them.
Same, might come down to Rekordbox vs Engine Prime software. I don't think you can beat the Denon for power and features for the money unless you don't need standalone operation and then the Pioneer DDJ1000, DDJ800 Rekordbox controllers or DDJ1000S Serato controller are great options.
Old question but 2 thumbs up so I'm gonna try to answer cause it took me for EVER to figure it out "LINK EXPORT mode". The "Rekordobx" button above the "link" button connects to Rekord box via Cat5 network cable (if your using XDJ1000mk2's then you need a network hub connecting both via cat5 with a singe connection from the hub to the laptop) but still requires RCA connection to mixer, with the mixer set to "line" for the RCA connection. B4 you hit the "RB" button on the XDJ 1000 MK2 you need these connections in place and you need RB to be in Export Mode. Doing this will show the link icon bottom left hand corner. First hit the link button on RB software which will show both XDJ's on the bottom of the Export mode screen, next you "LINK" the xdjs to Export mode by hitting the Link button followed by the "Rekordbox" button. if your music files are in the right location and analyzed correctly you will be able to scroll your collection on the XDJ screens and select tracks and get them to play. You could also use your mouse on your lap top and drop files into the decks on the bottom of the export mode screen. ***Note - I can ONLY get my music to work in this way if there is one copy of the file on my 2012 mac book pro AND it has to be a subdirectory of the "Music" folder.
Just wanted to confirm--I don't need a Pioneer DJM mixer to be able to pull files/playlists straight from Rekordbox via XDJ 1000mk2 (as you demonstrate in the video) as long as I have the XDJ 1000mk2 unit hooked up to the computer via USB, right? Trying to go for A&H or Denon for the mixer instead of DJMs... Thanks in advance.
@@TheDJLab I see. But I can still nonetheless connect XDJs to Rekordbox that way and pull all the files from there live time without having to have a pioneer mixer, right? I'm settled on getting XDJs, just wanted to make sure I won't get screwed there by getting a Denon or A&H mixer along with them. Extremely helpful, thanks so much.
D2 or Z2? NI Z2 mixer would just work as a regular mixer and you may be able to midi map some Rekordbox functions to the buttons. The NI D2 would be a little out of place but you could make it work. Maybe use the D2 for stems mixing in different bass lines and drum loops with your XDJ1000Mk2 playing the tracks but I think you may not be able to get them to sync as Pioneer doesn't support Ableton Link, you would have to beat match by ear and also use your tempo information on each device. The Pioneer DJS1000 sampler would be a better partner for a pair of XDJ1000Mk2 decks
I could see someone with a NI Traktor Kontrol S8 using a pair of Pioneer XDJ1000Mk2 so you could use Traktor and Rekordbox in the one big setup. As the S8 mixer section works as a standalone mixer, if your laptop crashed you could just switch over to the Pioneers or if different DJs prefer one ecosystem over the other
No HID support is a bit of a bummer if you want to use the XDJ as a controller for other DJ software but totally understand that Pioneer want us to use Rekordbox. If you need HID support you either need the the XDJ1000Mk1 or the CDJ900NXS or CDJ2000NXS2 the 2000 is double the money of the XDJ1000Mk2, so you would want to be earning the $$$ from your craft to justify it or just be determined to own their top piece of gear. The 900 is quite old and doesn't have the touch screen, otherwise that would have been a reasonable option. I would personally be more inclined to go for the DDJ800 controller and a pair of XDJ700 if you want to experiment at home. You can basically get all that for the price of one CDJ2000NXS2. If you want Serato, a Denon setup would be my choice X1800 mixer and two SC5000 which will give you a 4 deck setup. If you want turntables but only want DVS and don't spin any real vinyl, the Rane 72 and a pair of 12 controllers or if you need real vinyl a pair of Reloop RP8000Mk2 would be awesome
I am seeking help by anyone who could give me a few solutions about my problem with my player. 1. How can I make my track show on the whole screen and not just on the bottom. It just irritates me that I see other people on TH-cam having that enabled or whatever but for some reason my tracks don't do that. 2. Bars fors matching songs don't register and they just stay blank making me match all by ear. 3. For some reason i can't connect it to rekordbox normal way, I need to put it in performance mode and only then I can use it but even then the sound doesn't come out of my speaker. And yes I downloaded all the drivers updated software for the players and rekordbox and went into settings and set it all up. I hope this reaches some of you that can help me and I would appreciate it so much!
Can someone answer this for me. Will this xdj analyze my files when I put a USB in or do I have to analyze files on rekordbox computer? Pls someone help
you have to analyze youre tracks with rekordbox software and export youre playlist to a usb-stick.. the xdjs will play youre tracks too without analyze but then you can only use them restricted, cant see the waveform as an example
I believe the Denon SC5000 & SC5000M will do that and even recognise your cues & loops from Rekordbox, Traktor & Serato too and also works as a controller for Serato. Pioneer Rekordbox software should be still superior to Denon Engine Prime software but Denon's hardware is very powerful and great value. If you don't need standalone operation the Pioneer DDJ800 & DDJ1000 controllers are great products for Rekordbox and the new Pioneer DDJ1000S if you want to use Serato
The xdj will analyze the files automatically, don't worry, you don't have to analyze them in rekordbox on the pc because the rekordbox on the players is the same software as the one on the pc
