What is an “Overbite”?

An "overbite" is commonly known to the layperson as front teeth that stick out (buck teeth).
But this "sticking out" is actually called "Overjet" to dentists and orthodontists.
There are 3 main reasons for overjet: 1) Front teeth/jaw are too far forward; 2) lower teeth/jaw are too far back; and 3) a combination of 1) and 3).
Depending on the severity of the case, overjet can be fixed with orthodontic treatment and elastics (commonly known as rubber bands).
Elastics can be used with both braces and Invisalign (Note: I will upload another video demonstrating elastics with Invisalign.
If overjet is too severe, a combination of orthodontic treatment and jaw surgery may be indicated.

But if you have an overbite and your dentist is like “teeth are perfectly fine “ we’ll they are right because your teeth are straight but you have and over bite that’s a type of an over bite that you can have that does not need braces

Overbites have a range. There is too little overbite, too much overbite, and an overbite amount that is just right. 👍🏼

Hi 🙂 Yes, the last bite in the video is realistic. It’s a pretty severe overjet/overbite. Some of these cases could require jaw surgery to correct.

I have a over bite but it’s none of those Yippe
( you can not see my lower teeth but since I lost my front teeth first there were always the largest so I rested my back teeth together causing my back teeth to stay little and my front teeth to continue growing. So when I put my front teeth together there’s a gap 😅

You are correct that the proper technical term is overjet. Most people who do know that word call it an overbite.
