My mom passed from cancer in 2012 on April 21st. She was a die hard Dodger hating Giants fan. This was one of the most emotional times of my life. When Scutaro was looking to the sky when it was raining I did the same and thought how happy she would be. Glad she got to experience the 2010 championship.
It really had everything. Barry Zito's Redemption game, Vogelsong at home, then Matt Cain in the Rain. I was at this game at when it started monsooning, I've never heard the crowd be louder
@@stevenschiro1838 I was at the game too. It’s the game where I realized my Giants jacket was not waterproof. Brings chills back to watch these replays!
I'm so glad to know there are others like me...with a passionate dislike for Joe Buck. No joke, I muted the TV every game, and listened to KNBR Kruk and Kuip or Jon Miller
Man I remember how crazy the rain was that day. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it pour that much in the park. It made this win that much more epic. If I can summarize the 2012 season for the Giants in one word, it would be clutch. Everything about the Giants that season was fantastic. Matt Cain’s perfect game, Buster Posey’s fantastic MVP year, The Giants domination in the All Star game and this playoff run. Finally sweeping The Detroit Tigers who were pretty scary that year, but they had no idea what was coming for them in the World Series. Got the Giants were so much fun to watch in the first half of the decade. I’ll never forget their heroics and heart. All they needed to believe was in themselves. Thank you Giants for these great years.
That rain was euphoric, when does it really ever rain that hard in the city that time of the year ?! Not religious but that was definitely a sign from the “heavens.” I remember going outside after the game to embrace the rain when it came through !
The Giants were down 2-0 to the Reds, going to Cincy ( where the reds hadn't lost 3 in a row at home all season ) and swept them, down 3-1 to the Cards, with Zito going in Game 5, swept them and went to the Series and swept the heavily favored Tigers. What a great 2012 Post Season.
The more years that pass, the more I am impressed and so thankful for these three playoff runs, most especially 2012 with the 6 elimination game wins, followed by the World Series domination. Boring to non-fans, but oh so satisfying for us fans.
Thanks for the nice replay. After game six on Sunday I decided that I had to go to game seven. Bought a ticket online that morning. The skies opened up with a downpour in the ninth and credit to the umps they let it go. I have never seen baseball played in rain like that, everyone was soaking wet. If Holliday had gotten on I wonder if they would have called for a rain delay. A great memory and an amazing postseason for the Giants!
May not be the most popular opinion for a Giants fan to have but I think AJ as an analyst is actually pretty interesting and insightful. Wouldn't be at all upset if a network gave him a a shot at prime color commentator sometime.
We gave up Boof Bonser, Francisco Liriano, AND Joe Nathan for a 1/2 season of mediocre AJ. Of course, Giants fans were bitter. Nathan became a great closer and Liriano was a decent starter-The Giants would shuffle through closers like Armando Benitez until Brian Wilson showed up.
Honestly the fact that the Tigers were so heavily favored was confusing. Good 3-5 hitters but no depth in the lineup. Good starters but a really shaky bullpen. And it's not as though they were some regular season juggernaut. They won 86 games, fewer than either the Giants or Royals 2 years later in a series that was generally (and probably correctly) panned as matching 2 simply decent teams that just got hot at the right time.
My pops and I watched every single Giants game during this season. We didn’t miss a single episode. Watching this game live was just amazing. Always had our backs to the wall and kept winning elimination game after elimination game.
I remember being at this game with my parents I was probably 13. The rain was like nothing I ever experienced before or after also ominous too because it was raining like the 9th literally all day before the game but stopped long enough for them play. My favorite memory with my parents glad we all got to watch our team make history.
No offense to the Cardinals (whose fans must really hate the Giants), but this was the best game I ever attended. I had the worst seats ever that weren’t obstructed, but ironically that meant I was under a short overhang, so dry and happy. This video missed the iconic moment of Marco Scutaro just reveling in the rain.
Almost all the analysts picked the Giants to lose every series in almost every playoff from 2010 to 2014. The 2012 team was by far the best, but their slow starts in the NLDS and NLCS fooled analysts at every turn.
Here it is Oct. 8, 2024 and I'm reminiscing about the Giants 3 World Series Titles a decade ago and more. Meanwhile, tonight the Dodgers lost to the Padres 6-5 and trail 2-1 in the 2024 NLDS. L.A. won it all in 2020 ( 60 game regular season ) if you can really call that a title. So, since 1988 ( Dodgers last real World Series title ) the Giants have won 3 and the Dodgers none!
Although Cain didn't have his best stuff, he definitely got out of jam after jam after jam throughout the game. I much prefer a pitcher who can remain calm when there's runners on base rather than a guy who shuts down lineups, but gets frazzled when one person reaches base.
I love the editing, you can barely tell that McCarver guy was there. Next up on the agenda, figure out how to get that Buck guy out of there LOL Seriously though, it would be nice if you could get the KNBR guys voices on there but I know that would be tons of work.

Lex, my mom passed from cancer in 2012 as well (in February). I am so sorry for your loss and I hope the years have at least helped to dull the pain.
They needed to win 3 games and the pitching gave up 1 run in those games. Wow
It really had everything. Barry Zito's Redemption game, Vogelsong at home, then Matt Cain in the Rain. I was at this game at when it started monsooning, I've never heard the crowd be louder
And there was no doubt that they were going to take games 6 and 7. The crowd knew it, and both games the Giants were in control early.
@@stevenschiro1838 I was at the game too. It’s the game where I realized my Giants jacket was not waterproof. Brings chills back to watch these replays!
1 run? I didn't realize that. However I just had a feeling they would win.
With a manager who knew how to use them to the best of their abilities at exactly the right moment for each. Masterful job.
Hearing the joy fade from Joe Buck's voice as the Giants crush the Cards will put a smile on my face until the day I die.

Cardinals 2nd team with more rings
Picture perfect ending to this series. The guy who tried to take Scutaro out is the guy who makes the last out lol. Perfect.
And makes the last out to Scutaro, too.
It’s sad to think about how many more hits he could’ve racked up in the series, had Holliday not taken him out in the first

The most iconic moment after the game went final, was that shot of Marco Scutaro held his head up and hands out, letting the rain fall on his face.

Good times. That Giants roster. Wow.
Dominant offense, spectacular defense.
Pierzynski being the only guy to pick the Giants to win sure is something.
Something negative happen between AJ and the Giants too right? It's been forever since I followed baseball but I remember there was something going on

Kozma couldn't field a baseball to save his life this series
