The one common thread for all 3 of those championship seasons was exceptional defense. I had forgotten how solid this team was defensively. Especially throwing Nate out there in the outfield.
There were a few moments where it just felt like it was the Giants year that would have gone the other way in another year. -- Kinsler's ball in Game 2 that hit off the top of the wall and bounced back on the field instead of over the fence. -- Torres' double in Game 4 that scored Renteria not hopping over the wall for a Ground Rule Double to strand Renteria at 3rd. But honestly, the moment for me was when they won the first game despite Timmy being so shaky to start. Going into Game 1, I was nervous and I was a complete pain to be around when Timmy was struggling early. But I remember going to a friend's house to watch Game 2 the next day. He asked me if I thought the Giants would win and I just said "yeah," which was pretty rare for me. I just felt that if they could overcome a shaky Lincecum and still win big, Cain would get the better of CJ Wilson in Game 2 and they'd be in the driver's seat. After they won Game 1, my only moment of uneasiness in the series was Posey flying out deep to right to end the 6th inning in Game 5. The way Lincecum and Lee were throwing, it felt like a run or two would do it. And after seeing how well the ball was carrying in that park (ie: Posey's Game 4 homer and Renteria's Game 5 homer), seeing a ball fall just short of the wall momentarily felt like a bad omen. Not so much.
@@SeanBialaszek You should do all games, including the losses because it adds to the drama. It'd be great to see the giants struggle and have it seem like all hope is lost for the 2012 giants, but they make the remarkable comeback.

When Huff hit that HR, that's when I first knew that the Giants would win the world series.
