I know this site well. There was a missile malfunction in 1962 causing the missile to collapse. They sent the Atlas to Convair in California for repair. I would say by the time they could repair it, the Alas system was close to being obsolete. That site sat unarmed for a while before it was decommissioned. A great item there is the large yellow missile tilt erector at the gate entrance.

At 14:00, that's a gamma-ray detector up on a pole, to detect an atomic flash. Most of these underground missile sites were deliberately flooded when abandoned to discourage urbex. The Nike missile site in Lumberton, NJ had its underground batteries flooded, and then they built the public works buildings on top. The surrounding barracks, radar installation, and offices had housing developments built over where they used to be.

I am obsessed with these old missile silos ever since getting to tour the Atlas F silo near Wilson, KS!
Would love to see more of them! We followed the maps and found a few that were completely flooded, but haven’t ventured to an Atlas E site yet! Kansas native and history nerd here 😁

Such a shame to see these bases flooded, and damaged like this.

It's a Hydro Power Facility. I bet there is an Aquifer below it.

I know right where this site is. Driven by the entry way into it. Always wanted to go look at it but do know who owns the land.

I would love to see this site. Does the owner allow people to visit? I would love to purchase a raw site like this.

I have NEVER seen this site as raggedy looking ad this video made it seem... U went when it was literally raining like 15 minutes before. This place is damn near bone dry everywhere u guys filmed on an average day. Just sayin

I do not believe we made it look like anything other than how it was.. I show things as they are with no intention on presenting anything in a negative light. I would have loved to come on a nice day. Maybe I will in the near future. I still think it was an awesome place to visit. Wet or dry. Like i said, I would not mind a revisit with maybe some drone footage also 🙃
