Insane for being down there without a mask. I stopped deep down in the silo to smoke a joint and immediately felt super sick by the air quality.

Asbestos. Bad idea to say the least lol. Radon is another potential concern for Titan 1 silos at least, but I haven't confirmed this myself. Asbestos is a major safety hazard with T1 silos.

Lofi Urbex that could be a good marketing ploy for him! Those “photos” are actually screenshots from a video if you look carefully, but I assume the realtor is probably holding onto it for whatever reason. Barry Hotchkiss asked around the same thing for his site in Washington state a decade ago, but over the years has lowered the price exponentially. His site is clean, but it’s not as maintained in its original state like the one in Bennett is. Bennett is the cleanest Titan 1 site in America, hands down.
The Aurora site was photographed back in 1968, just after salvage occurred. If it’s been sealed off, it could be even more immaculate than Bennett!

Used to go out there a lot back in the 80's & 90's. Fun place to explore! Back then not too many knew where it was and it was before all the graffiti that is now sprayed everywhere. We once rescued a dog from down in the bottom of the power dome. We returned her to her owners at 3am at the bar down on the Deer Trail exit off I70. They were stunned. Said she had been missing for over two weeks. Her name was Nellie (the Wonder Dog)! There was a rave there back in the late 90's or early 2000's. I didn't go to it, but it looks like it was a lot of fun! That being said, I do know 2 stories of people falling through the floor and getting injured. They were both being stupid, not paying attention, not being safe. Fun place to explore if you keep your wits about you. Might be more difficult now that the owners are keeping an eye on the place. If you don't use stealth techniques, you will probably get caught! Don't be a dumbass! Keep yourself safe!

Wow, I keep hearing more and more stories about this place. That's crazy a dog made its way all the way down there. The whole reason I wanted to document this place is so people would be able to enjoy it from their home, and not actually visit. The owners REALLY don't like people going there, and for good reason. It's incredibly dangerous, but I figured somebody had to at least make 1 good trip out of it to get it all on footage. At least now if anything ever happens to the place, like it getting sealed up for good, they'll be perement record of what was there. An absolutely facsinating piece of history

Fun fact; the cost of these silos to build in 1060 was supposed to be $29 million dollars. It went over budget to $51 million per silo. $1000000 in 1960 is equal to almost 11 million dollars in 2024 . A launch facility would today have cost $569 million dollars. They were in use for at most 5 years.
    Shocking? Yep.

It's amazing how much of an underground fortress it is. Very over built and over engineered so it'll be around for hundreds of years. Although it only had three years of military service before it was abandoned and decommissioned. I guess that $44.5 million spent is to learn how to many the next models better and more efficient.

@@brandondude1259 it honestly went very smooth, that being you must show up after 12am and walk about a mile in. I have given the spot’s location to a select group of my close friends who have checked it out on their own time without me and had no problems exploring and dealing with the owner. As for where I parked, I parked at the intersection of the county road and the dirt road that leads up the silo area you should see a collection of big power line holders right off the road near this intersection and that’s where I snuck my car into (Infiniti m56 to give you an idea of what can get down there off the road, don’t go too far just about 50-100 yards off the road ), on the walk up be sure to be silent and not show any light whatsoever. As for where the actual entrance was I was able to get an idea from looking a various videos that visit the site but you’ll know you found it when you arrive at a giant pit in the middle of the silo area where they dug into the ground to retrieve heavy equipment, at the bottom you’ll see a ton of tumble weeds that collect at your entrance clear the ones from the right side and you’ll find a dig out hole you can scooch into (a decent sized person can fit in it probably). From there let you extensive knowledge of titan 1’s guide you and be sure to have an idea of how the layout works but overall I can say that this relatively low risk as long as you a diligent and show up at the right time. If you need anything else lmk, I will say that launcher #2 is the most dry from what I can tell at the time I visited.

I wonder you got in. The Titan-1 Base in Deer Trail is 725-B; it's on private property and the owner is heartily sick of "visitors" and their attendant liability risk, so he's "forward" on calling the cops - several ''tourists' have been arrested, and the local cops are just as sick of them so they're all charged with felony trespassing. Look at all the holes in the floor - these sites are f'ing dangerous, you could fall down any of them and never be found. And many of the pipe junctions were insulated with asbestos, and when they scrapped-out the sites they just broke that stuff off and dumped it on the floor - the air is full of it. Please do not trespass, especially somewhere as dangerous as these sites - the life you save could be yours.
A few discrepancies in your description; the fuel was stored in the missiles, the LOX was what they pumped in. This stuff boiled-off continuously, which was why it was not stored in the missiles; they kept it in giant thermos tanks in the bottom of the LOX silos. They could launch one missile every seven minutes; the guidance system couldn't deal with more than that anyway, and in the fifteen minutes from first launch, Soviet ICBM's could be there. The missiles were radar-guided with a 3.8 Mt warhead - the same warhead the Atlas had - inertial navigation systems were just becoming available, but the Atlas F's were the duty systems and the Titan 1's were just being introduced, so the Atlas F's got the inertial nav systems and the Titan 1's were radar-guided. For a tour of a Titan 1 site with actual lighting, youtube Ehren Hotchkiss, who grew-up on a Titan 1 Base; she takes you on a 4-part tour, but she shoulda' worn sunscreen while doing the above-ground parts...
The Titan 2 was being developed - it used hypergolic propellants, they react on contact with each other and are liquid at room temperature so they were stored in the missile. The Titan 2's all had inertial navigation systems that ran continuously, so no warm-up needed - the standard for the Titan 2 was that within 58 seconds of the alarm sounding, they would be lifting-off. You can youtube the Arizona Missile Museum to learn about the Titan 2 - you can even take tours and stay there overnight (it ain't free though). The Titan 2 carried a 9.3 Mt warhead - the biggest the U.S. ever put on a missile - and the one in the Arizona Missile Museum has a big hole cut in the side of the warhead and a glass roof on the silo, so the Russians can see it's a dud from space and it isn't counted in the START Treaty.
Titan 2 was a lot heavier than Titan 1; the Titan 1's were lifted out of the silo by an elevator, but the Titan 2 was too heavy for it; the Titan 2 lit-off inside the silo and then flew out. Titan 1 silos could not be adapted for this without spending (likely) more than it would cost to just make new Titan 2 Bases; and besides, the Soviets knew where all the Titan 1 Bases were and were likely targetting them all. So these sites, for the horrendous amounts they cost, were only active for about three years - from ~1962 to ~1965.
A waste of money? - I prefer to call them "the best investment Uncle Sam ever made", because guess how the Soviets found out where the Bases were? Uncle Sam told them, so they could verify the sites' existence with recon satellites. What else happened in 1962? - the Cuban Missile Crisis. Vladimir Lenin said "Probe with a bayonet. If you find steel, stop; if you find mush, keep pushing." So at the height of the crisis when fingers were hovering near buttons, "somebody" told Nikita Khrushchev that there were the Titan 1 Bases with three missiles each, plus all the Atlas E and F Bases, the B-52's and what-not, and they were all operational, fully manned and only a phone call away. In the light of which, he decided that Uncle Sam's gut was good steel, and maybe it wouldn't be as smart to launch a nuclear strike against the U.S. as he might've thought it could be - and World War III didn't happen. Yet...
I wish somebody would put one of the sites back together as a museum - Bill Gates, Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos "might" be rich enough... If you want to learn more about the Titan I sites, chromehooves[dot]net has lots of info. And for learning what the Soviets were planning to throw-back, look up the SS-18 - which has the wildest launch system imaginable!

We have several sites in my area because of the close proximity of Hanford and the grand Coulee dam. I have actually been to one of the 3 sites in our area. Of course they are all on private property. My wife and I are photographers, so of course we have ways of finding land owners. It's all public information. So my words of wisdom are give landowners the consideration and ask for permission. 9 times out of 10 you will get permission unless if it is actually something dangerous

I'm an avid cave and technical wreck scuba diver... We get ded if we get hung in a ship wreck such as the Doria, etc... Word to the wise.. Get yourself a light you do not have to tether to a remote batter... It would really be a bad day if a light's power line snagged and you lost your balance.. Very bright headlamps are easy to find, and cheap compared to what I use under water... Regardless... Thanks for the tour! Be safe!
